Equipment
The Arcana System has a three-unit Equipment System, which can be used to customize and modify a character's statistics between battles without need for an upgrade application. These items include Weapons, Armor, and Skill Cards.
All characters have access to a limited selection of each to start, as well as 'defaults' for Weapons and Armor in case none are equipped. Further unlocks may be achieved via point spends, Monad rewards, or other benefits.
Inventory
- +inventory will show you your currently-equipped items.
Weapons
Weapons can add Attack to Weapon and Tandem attacks, Bonuses to statistics (St, Ma, Ag, Vi, Lu), or Passives to the holder. Only one weapon's benefits may be used at a time, but weapons may be renamed freely.
Relevant commands include:
- +weapons - Shows a list of available weaponry.
- +weapon/equip or +equip/weapon <name>=<desired name> - Selects a weapon from the database and gives it a desired name. Does not take ansi.
- +weapon/clear - Clears your current weapon in favor of the Default value.
Armor
Armors can add Defense to all attacks, Bonuses to statistics (St, Ma, Ag, Vi, Lu), or Passives to the holder. Only one armor's benefits may be used at a time, but armors may be renamed freely.
Relevant commands include:
- +armors - Shows a list of available armors.
- +armor/equip or +equip/armor <name>=<desired name> - Selects an armor from the database and gives it a desired name. Does not take ansi.
- +armors/clear - Clears your current armor in favor of the Default value.
Note that +armor commands take 'armour' too. We see you, non-Americans.
Skill Cards
Skill Cards allow a character to equip additional attacks. Typically these are Weak attacks, but as the game progresses, more powerful Skill Cards will be unlocked. They are in addition to your normal attacks, and can be switched between battles. Unlike free attacks, these cannot be renamed. However, they can be freely switched outside of battle. A typical character has one Card slot.
The following commands are relevant:
- +cards - Shows a list of available Skill Cards for your character. This list can be expanded piecemeal or with category unlocks.
- +card/equip <Card> - Equips a Card to your current form. This adds the attack to that form's attack list.
- +card/unequip <Card> - Unequips a Card from your current form. This removes the attack from that form's attack list.
- +cards/clear - Clears all cards from your current form's list. This will remove all card attacks from your current form.
Equipment Creation
A piece of equipment spends points between its equipment bonus and statistical bonuses. These are costed according to the following rules:
- 1 pt per point: Equipment Bonus. (Atk or Def.)
- 2 pts per point: A bonus to one or more stats. (+Agi or +Vit).
- 5 points per: level 1 Passives. Excluded are Quick Weapon and Heavy Weapon, as well as any passives that add attacks. One Passive per piece of Equipment.
A Tier 1 Weapon or Armor has 10 points to spend. A Tier 2 Weapon or Armor has 16 points to spend.
For Tier 1, the minimum Equipment bonus is 2, the maximum Equipment bonus is 6, and the maximum Stat bonus is +3 per stat.
For Tier 2, the minimum Equipment bonus is 5, the maximum Equipment bonus is 10, and the maximum Stat bonus is +4 per stat.
Put another way, Tier 1 equipment has a starting Defense/Attack of 2, with 8 points to spend between passives (5 points) and stats (2:1), and Tier 2 equipment is the same, but with a starting bonus of 5, and 11 points to spend on passives/stats. Maximums apply.
Equipment Acquisition
You may spend your XP, in addition to the standard Advancement benefit, on requests for the following:
- 3 pts: a custom Armor or Weapon of tier 1.
- 6 pts: a custom Armor or Weapon of tier 2.
- 3 pts: a single Skill Card of any Weak attack from the database that is available to your character type, Weapon attacks excluded.
- 3 pts: A Skill Card Category added to your list. These categories are listed below this section.
With each new Episode, or at player request, these points can be reset and new choices may be made. Greater Skill Cards and Equipment will be available in later Episodes.
Excuses to change these can be found in Monads or by plot or just through RP! However, we request that you only change your selections as needed, on the same rules as rebuilding your character. That is to say, if it's not working out for you you are free to redo your statistics, but we'd rather you not do it all the time.
You can also unlock special Equipment and Skill Cards via Monads or other IC events, though you can only keep up to 3 Monad reward pieces of gear at a time. Your inventory is only so big!
