"What kind of hour do you call this?!" Hanzou demands, when he arrives to drag Tsubasa out of custody. He was perfectly polite with the policemen, of course -- quite apologetic for the trouble his 'daughter' caused them -- but now, as he grabs Tsubasa and hauls them out of the holding area, he's angry. "Tsubaki, you've gone too far, this time! Assaulting an officer -- you're just lucky they were willing to drop their charges!" And of course that's not their name, but he all but hollers it through the precinct. It's not information they ever wanted Shinjiro to hear; it isn't up to them, either.
"I'm sorry, father," Tsubasa says, trying to keep a grimace off their face as he grasps their upper arm.
"Come with me," he says, darkly, as he leads them out, his face hot and flush with anger. "I don't trust you to get home on your own."
And if they manage to toss a glance to Katsuya Suou, as they're steered out of the building, it's...
Well, even if they're scared, there's nothing anyone can do about it.
Hanzou is important, now.
They get into the car, with him, feeling quite ill; they wish they didn't need to strap their seatbelt across their chest, but they'd be in worse shit if they didn't. "Do you realise the position you've put me in?" Hanzou spits, and he hasn't strapped in yet, as he reaches over to shake their shoulder. ... he isn't particularly gentle, and Tsubasa feels their breath shallowing in their chest, quick and panicked. "Not only did I need to use my position to stop you from embarrassing me, I can't even discipline you after that goddamn piece of shit Sergeant Suou insisted they'd be following up with you!"
Don't cry, Tsubasa repeats, insistent, as they screw their eyes shut. Don't cry, don't cry... fuck, did Officer Suou really say that? Did he know what he was doing, or was he just being a stick in the mud? They told him what Hanzou did, so... maybe... shit, were his hands really that tied?
It oughta be that they'd never let their father march them outta there knowing what he's done, right?
It's a good thing their tan and concealer covers up the way their blood's all drained from their face, waiting for Hanzou to figure out some way to hurt them he can get away with -- not entirely registering that he's already done it, until he just shoves roughly at their shoulder and sinks back into his own seat. "Look at me when I'm talking to you, girl," he grouses, and they hear his glower even before they manage to look over to him. "You're far more trouble than you're worth. They tell me you weren't even sorry... tch, I bet you're sorry now. Look at yourself! You're pathetic! An embarrassment!"
Tsubasa glances at their reflection in the side mirror, only to realise their eyes are teary enough to be messing with their makeup. Seeing that, their breath hitches, and the tears roll down their face. "I'm sorry," they say, their voice choked, making sure to look to him again.
"What do you have to say for yourself?" He insists, as he starts the engine.
Tsubasa swallows, clutching their hands in their lap.
"... you're scaring me," they say, entirely too honest.
"Then think the next time you do something stupid," he huffs, though at least his eyes are on the road. "This is your own damn fault, Tsubaki."
He doesn't even care that they were trying to save Myunghon's life.
... at least he doesn't lay another hand on them on the way home.
