  • Summary: Kimitake takes his wife onto daytime television to announce their wedding to the world... as well as to explain just who his mysterious fiancee is. Yua's secrets are revealed, but is she really okay with saying all this on television...?

A talk show host -- Hamana Higuma, a popular voice amongst daytime television watchers, some of whom even aren't housewives -- turns to the camera with a bright smile, as her segment on current affairs ends. Her bright shock of orange hair and the orange star-sticker on her cheek are just this side of acceptably out there, for an entertainer.

"And now, we come to our Saturday Special Interest story... Inspector Kimitake Ijuuin is a rising star in the Sumaru Police Department. We understand he's been planning a wedding for some time -- but he's kept the details tantalisingly under wraps until now! Join us, today, as we meet him and his fiancee together for the first time...! This is a big win for all our law girlies out there!!"

The camera pans long, to show a tall man entering the stage, his dark green hair cropped short against his severe features. At his arm is a woman, a full ten inches shorter -- and noticeably younger -- with an eyepatch across the left side of her face and long teal hair wrapped neatly into a bun.

It might be a little hard to place everyone's favourite(???) part-time teacher, Yua Ooshiro, when she isn't wearing a tutu; her lovely blue sundress is exquisitely-tailored, instead. She lays a hand at Kimitake's arm, as they sit themselves on the couch opposite Hamana, as close as one might expect an engaged couple to sit.

(Her left hand is splayed there; quite deliberately, her ring is plain to see.)

"Thanks for taking time out of your day to come speak with us, Inspector," Hamana smiles, warmly. "I know your work in Organised Crimes is far more important than our curiosity!"

"I don't mind at all," Kimitake smiles, warmly, to her. He makes an effective 'face' to speak to the media, so this kind of outreach isn't unknown to him; not only is he from a noble and respected family, he's honestly personable. "We've been looking forward to announcing our engagement. Besides, if I can convince your viewers to encourage their children to consider a career in law enforcement... I'll have more allies to straighten things out!"

He laughs; Yua laughs with him, and she certainly sounds amused by his levity by the way she giggles. Hamana laughs, too, personably.

"You've certainly kept us waiting," she observes, smiling. "We last heard you were planning this wedding last year! Now you're here, I think there's just one question on everyone's minds... who's this lovely lady beside you?"

Yua's cheeks flush, prettily, with the attention. "Um... my name is Yua Ooshiro," she introduces herself, bowing her head to the camera. "I'm... from Okinawa, and I work as a Health and Physical Education teacher, I'm presently running a program to help school refusers re-engage with their education across four campuses, I'm teaching them to dance..."

"I thought you looked like a teacher!" Hamana exclaims, brightly. "So, tell me -- how did you two meet?"

"Yua-san is my cousin Miho-chan's best friend," Kimitake takes over for Yua, who looks quite grateful for the intervention. "They've been inseparable since high school. So I met her, one day, when she attended a family gathering with Miho-chan... we were quite taken with each other, and fortunately, the head of our clan was able to arrange for us to come together more formally." he adds, bowing his own head for a respectful moment. "I'm grateful for the support of my Uncle, Miho-chan's Father."

"Ah, Miho Ijuuin -- now a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist! I understand she's only just returned from London after conquering both the Individual and Team Women's Saber bouts... and I hear you went on vacation with her, Ooshiro-san! But you know," Hamana leans forward, her crimson eyes shining. "We dug up something fascinating when we looked at the footage from the 2008 Games and the ones we've just witnessed. Back then, Ijuuin-san declared to all the cameras that she would find you, Ooshiro-san... and this time, she's assured us you were found. Everyone's very curious -- what did she mean by that?"

"Oh," Yua defers, glancing aside, "I don't think that's really... appropriate for my students to hear..."

"Come, now," Hamana assures her, "teenagers don't watch our program, I've seen our demographics!" And while that might be true, as far as broadcast television is concerned... it's 2012, and clips like these are uploaded to the internet. Conveniently, Hamana leaves that part out. "Will you really not tell us anything...?"

"Er..." Yua starts, glancing to Kimitake, for a moment; he places a hand over hers, and she nods, with a brief smile to him. "... well," she says, as she turns back to Hamana and the cameras behind her, "it's something of a serious story... is that really all right?"

"Certainly," Hamana encourages her, because serious stories drive engagement.

And it is a story, the thing Yua braces herself to say, though it rhymes with the truth. Kimitake didn't even need to coach her on all the details... though certainly he had some suggestions.

"When I graduated, I enlisted in the military, but... we were stranded at sea during a training exercise gone wrong," Yua explains, quietly. "Unfortunately, foreign smugglers intercepted our SOS... when they realised we were still trainees, without any government secrets, we became victims of human trafficking. ... that's why I found myself so drawn to Kimi-san, I think? Because... he does important work fighting for justice for people like me." She takes a moment to glance to him -- drawing strength from him, perhaps -- before she continues. "But Mimi -- um, Miho -- she never gave up looking for me. She used her wealth to help the authorities search for me, and... she's the one who supported me as I was recovering. I studied my teaching degree while I was getting better, and when I became qualified, they agreed to let me try this new program of mine... but you see, that's quite a serious story, so I've always been reluctant to indulge anyone's curiosity."

"Goodness," Hamana exclaims. "That certainly is serious... of course, we won't press you for details. Our viewers should feel privileged to bear witness to your remarkable journey of recovery! You're clearly a very kind woman, wishing to help children who've gone astray after all that..."

"Young people are safest in school," Yua asserts. "I -- heard many stories of people far too young -- who all too frequently met tragic fates after developing a habit of skipping school. I'm very concerned for tomorrow's adults, in this way," she says, her brow creasing, as she leans against Kimitake, and he puts an arm around her in silent support. "While situations like mine can't be helped, I feel that if I can convince even a few teenagers to attend school more frequently in hopes of joining my classes, I'll have done something important. They don't need to know why I'm concerned... to know I really care about seeing them, you know?"

"I see..." Hamana nods. "So, you had to leave your military career behind, but you still surely have a lawful heart. What a wonderful partner for an Inspector!" She smiles, introducing a brighter tone back into the studio. "I know what our viewers are thinking, though... do you two have any plans for children?"

"We do," Kimitake smiles back to Hamana, as Yua smiles, too. "I'm sure one day, soon, I'll be able to introduce you to another member of our family. Please wait patiently until then."

"Well, before then, there's the wedding, I suppose!" Hamana exclaims. "Tell me -- will we be able to get a glimpse inside?"

"We thought it would be wonderful if we engaged in some community outreach with our union," Kimitake smiles. "So we'll allow media into the event... and perhaps we'll even make sure Yua-san's students can come wish her well."

"My students are important to me," Yua adds, smiling alongside him.

"Ho-ho! Then, perhaps I'll get to be there...!" Hamana smiles, far more brightly. "Whenabouts will it happen, anyway?"

"Look forward to September," Kimitake advises Hamana, his smile growing a touch mysterious.

"Well, it looks like time for this segment is just about up...!" Hamana says, with an apologetic expression which soon turns back to her usual energy. "But what a privilege it was to get to know your fiancee, Ijuuin-san! I'm sure our viewers can feel a little more secure knowing someone with such pure devotion to their childrens' safety is teaching at school... and with you keeping our streets safer, too! What a dynamic duo, ladies!" No gentlemen: again, she knows her demographics.

"Thank you for having us," Kimitake says, entirely gracious. "I'm grateful to all the 'law girlies' in the community for your support!"

"Thank you," Yua echoes him, and then the lights go down. This might be daytime television, but the clips will certainly be circulating the 'net soon enough -- it's gossip about a teacher.

She stays diligently by his arm while they're making their way off set...

... and sits on the opposite side of the car to him when it's time to bring her home.
