  • OOC Date: March 14, 2026

  • Summary: Niko finds Sudou having a solo pool party in the very sanitarium he recently escaped from, demanding to know what she got hurt for. Sudou mollifies her by explaining more of the plan in regards to returning the world to the Other Side, as well as the role Jun Kashihara plays in them. Absolutely no death flags are raised in the way the unlikely duo makes plans for future collaborations.

The days had passed since the Sanitarium was infected by zombies, and the good guys had charged in and they scuffled in the parking lot. It was a whole lot of fun. Then the police came and took away the bodies and helped people and now after a week the only thing left is the police tape on the front door. For those who choose to ignore what it says it doesn't matter.

In the lobby there is a fountain, a large one, very nice and ornate, and at the moment there is a pool mattress 'floating' in it. It might actually be floating if Tatsuya Sudou wasn't laying on forcing it to be pushed to the bottom, and Sudou's back to obviously getting wet.

Sudou doesn't appear to mind the wet though, he has a can of soda with a straw in it, in the little cup holder on the mattress, some sun block rubbed on his nose and is wearing some swim trunks...and the trench coat. It would appear the Joker Killer is taking a nap given the dark sun glasses and the rhythmic breathing.

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

What a horrible mess that must have been. Strega is aware of what went down, in regards to Sudou's breakout. It's something that Niko Kirisaki, in particular, may have sought to assist with, normally speaking. It's just that she's just a little sore right now, in more ways than one.

Police tape, of course, is utterly meaningless to her ilk. What matters more is, would the door be locked? Most would check that first of all, including Niko, under normal circumstances. But hey, place is fucked, no one's left to care, and she's not in the best condition nor in the best of moods. Ergo...

Sudou's rest is violently disturbed by the loud crash, following Niko literally kicking down the door. She feels a little better already, it's been way too long since she got to flex her muscles. The reason for which is immediately visible upon laying eyes on her, her left arm in particular.

Said arm must have suffered an injury of some kind, left to rest in a neat sling, held close to the body to keep it still. It cannot be easy for Niko, animated as she tends to be, to have only the hand and fingers were free to move normally. Not to mention the fact that this makes violence quite a bit more difficult, making it hard to do her 'job', such as it is.

But that's not the immediate concern. Especially not after Niko spots Sudou right there in the lobby, just... is he lounging? In the fountain?? Maybe she should just gloss over that part, she has enough to be exasperated about already.

"Holy shit, you actually did come back here. You really don't give a rat's ass about this being the most obvious place to come looking for you, huh?" At least Niko isn't out for blood. Though she does have a bone to pick, so to speak, as she's quick to point out with a gesture to her injury.

"You know, I broke my arm helping you last time." It's a microfracture, but still, broken bone is broken bone. "Stupid risks and consequences are one thing, but I want to know why. Got time to give me some answers, or are you..." She makes a face, at the scene before her. "...Too busy."

The door is kicked down and Sudou mumbles something awake. His eyes blink open blurry and trying to see through the shades to who caused it, some one armed person. He hadn't taken any arms, wait is it one arm? Sudou takes the glasses off and rubs his eyes for a moment as he hears the voice but while it sounds like Niko it also doesn't. Niko tends to sound like unicorn and glitter, this Niko sounds, well more like Umie.

Sudou finishes to rub his eyes and he sees Niko, "Oh damn Niko, you got your arm broke?! " Sudou says pointing out the obvious as he lets his sleepy brain catch up to what she had said to him. " Well you know, they'd be stupid to look for me in the most obvious place. Besides, the cops are starting to realize that they can't stop me. At least not the good cops." Sudou smiles as he picks up the soda and sips from the straw.

"Anyways you came all the way so you might as well enjoy the pool. I think there are some sodas around here somewhere. " The Joker Killer sits up a little more and points to a pile of empty cans, that are almost totally obscuring the remaining few cans still awaiting their fate.

Giving a moment for Niko to settle or not, her choice, Sudou tries to remember and fully process her question, "Are you asking me why you helped me last time? I think you might need a mirror for that one, but if you are asking what I did at the art museum, sure I can clue you in. " Still he hesitates for a moment before leaning back on the mattress, "So before I dig into it, why do you think? Remember be honest. "

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

Good thing that wasn't said out loud. Niko would not enjoy any Umie comparisons. Still, if she was really, truly, seriously angry she wouldn't even bother talking, so it's not as if there's been a 100 percent loss of goodwill here. She's just taking things a little bit more seriously than usual. She has her reasons. One of those reasons is pretty clearly visible.

"Had to go to a doctor and everything," she complains, even though she did get to meet a doctor who turned out to be pretty cool. Not gonna let on there was any sort of upside to this, though.

Sudou's reasoning for this being too obvious... sure, she can accept that much as valid. Not so much the invitation, that just causes her to let out a sigh. "Can't really 'enjoy the pool' like this, can I? Any doctor worth their salt would say that's a bad idea." That's the ticket, doctor's orders, nothing to do with the fact that even she can't delude herself into thinking this counts as a pool.

Soda, though. She might as well have a soda. Doesn't even take her very long to spot one, not caring about the empty cans she has to toss aside.

...she forgot about the difficulty of opening a can of soda with one hand for a moment. The way she ends up doing it is sitting down on her knees and holding the can between them while using her good hand to work the pull tab. Little awkward, and it spills a bit over her legs, but like heck was she going to ask for help with it.

Remaining seated on the floor, she gets back to business. "Yeah, that part is what I wanna know about. What were you trying to do with that painting? If you want me to be honest, kinda looked like that was all just a ruse to get that Jun guy." A pause, to take a sip of soda. "What'd you do with him, anyhow?"

<Pose Tracker> Tatsuya Sudou has posed.

Sudou looks around at the fountain and then back at Niko for a moment, he had considered her maybe soaking her feet, not a lot of swimming room. Still if it was doctor's orders. For a moment he sits and listens to her questions and at the mention of Jun, his mattress pops.

It is totally unrelated obviously but as Sudou tries to figure out the answer about Jun he slowly deflates to only end up sitting in the fountain water. " Um so Jun. " He starts and then looks away for a moment before he goes back to the first question, what was he trying to do with that painting. " So the painting, what was I trying to do..." Sudou rubs his chin as he looks at the water around him. Taking a moment he moves back his sleeve to show his mark. "I was going for the world record of giving the most tattoos at one time. " He chuckles at that for a moment before adding. "I was trying to spread my best friend's influence to all who laid eyes upon the painting. You see I found out that my dad does it for his crew by showing them a mummy, so I figured why not the painting. "

Looking at the water and running his finger through it, " Unfortunately they stopped it, I didn't expect that. Sides, seems it didn't work anyways. Guess I need a mummy. " Sudou says not quite getting back to Jun.

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

Soaking her feet might have been an option, if Niko was in a mood for it. Except that, Niko really likes to swim. Even had this been much of a pool, getting to do no more than sit there soaking her feet would only be an unpleasant reminder of what she'd rather be doing, but is now unable to.

There's some kind of metaphor about her life in there.

With no objections, she's free to do things her way, and get to the reason she's here. It would be hard not to notice the hesitation in regards to Jun. Is he really just going to avoid the subject, even now? What IS it about that guy and Sudou? Jin can find out information on just about anything, but nobody she knows has been able to piece that together. More than a little vexing, especially now that it feels she got seriously hurt because of that strange obsession.

But the painting, sure, they can talk about that first. At least it sounds like there actually was a plan beyond Jun, which does a lot to reduce her annoyance levels. "Huh. That how it's done? Weird shit." She does know about Sudou's 'best friend' the voices, and the tattoo being somehow involved. She doesn't really need to know more than that. Her interest is more specific.

"So how does any of that tie in with bringing things back to the Other Side?" That's always been what it's all about with her. Despite not having a Mark herself, she's always supported the idea. Just like the voices said she would.

Even so, she's not forgotten about Jun. She'll circle back around to that, if Sudou doesn't.

<Pose Tracker> Tatsuya Sudou has posed.

Sudou nods his head happy to finally be getting to where it was all going, the villain monologue he didn't get to give earlier. Standing up, the water barely reaching the midway of his shins (curse of a tall person), he begins to walk as he talks. "OH that's the genius of it. You see the idea is that if I gave my friend more friends then even if some of them disappointed us, then maybe we would get more to help with the cause. "

Sudou paces enough that he steps out of the fountain and onto the concrete side, "You see I am but a man army, and I do greatly appreciate all the help Strega has given, I recognize that if there were more of me I'd make better progress." Sudou makes a grand gesture as if to signify just how many people he thought it would be. " Then a small group of them being a part of the art world could continue to spread the painting around the world. More and more of me until we were all charting forward to fix the timeline. " Sudou pauses for a moment, " It, would have been glorious. " The killer wipes an imaginary tear from his eye as he thinks about what could have been.

Sudou's excitement deflates as fast as the pool toy as he sighs and just sits on the side, " So I saw the way the wind was going and I was at least going to kill a few people on my way out. That's when the consolation prize offered himself up. You see that boy, the one you can't understand why I am focused on. He is the real Joker, I am simply the stand in. "

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

Niko's happy to give a guy an opening for a good villain monologue. She knows how that is, she loves to go on a rant if people give her half a chance. And if one happens to be about her favorite topic, of course she's just as happy to listen in rapt attention.

...Even if she hopes Sudou wasn't talking literal copies. She could see him being cool with that, but Niko has an appreciation for people's individual uniqueness. One Joker Killer is cool, a dozen just makes the whole thing as confusing as it would be boring. Even if she can't argue how efficient it might be, for the purposes of bringing about the end goal.

"Bummer," she can't but agree. "Wonder why it didn't work. Seems kinda random, needing a mummy of all things for that sorta thing." She shrugs. "But what do I know, there's so many random things happening in this world. And so many of these weirdos just going with it, thinking it's all real. Fucked up, man." Really, how much more obvious could it be that things aren't the way it should be?

But the real bomb doesn't drop until the end. Here she was just thinking about multiple Joker Killers... and it turns out there were more than one all along? And one of them is that guy?? She doesn't make a secret of her confusion, staring blankly for a few seconds before shaking her head.

"Wait wait wait. HE was supposed to be doing what you are?" She considers a moment, unable to quite work out the full picture. "He seemed so boring though. Are you sure he would help? Could he?"

<Pose Tracker> Tatsuya Sudou has posed.

Sudou nods his head and considers how to paint the picture for a moment, "You ever know someone that says so and so is their best friend and the other person says that the first person is their best friend. Only for it to be understood between both of them that one of them is settling because their real best friend isn't around. Yeah thats the weird triangle I am in and I'll let you guess who is who here." Sudou looks at the ground with a heavy sigh, having been reminded recently just how true that really was.

"Jun Kurosu was an amazing leader and would have given Strega so much to play with. Unfortunately in this timeline, Jun Kashihara exists instead. Despite all my effort, he is ....a disappointment." Sudou frowns a little more at the ground, " So much time wasted. "

Looking up Sudou smiles at Niko, "I should have listened to my Strega friends. "

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

Well, that picture sounds an awful lot like the kind of thing that happens in school. Not really the kind of scenario she would have associated with being part of the adult world. Aren't they supposed to like... be adults about that sort of thing? Whatever, not her problem, at least that makes it easy to understand.

"Sounds like you got it rough, Ojisan," is the way she chooses to summarize. "Hang in there!" Even if she's simplifying, that's genuine sympathy, still. Not something the Joker Killer gets a lot of, she imagines. Nothing wrong with giving him a little encouragement when he's down. After all, she does need him to come through, where it comes to returning the world to the Other Side.

"Kurosu..." she muses. She'll need to look into that, but she'll be able to figure out how that name relates to Jun, later on. Harder for her to imagine Jun being anything but a disappointment, but still. If Sudou's saying it, she should take the possibility seriously. "Well, hang on, might still be something we can do there. Why don't you leave that to me?" Her grin is confident enough, if nothing else. "I can be very convincing when I want to be."

Naturally, she is all too keen to reinforce the vote of confident in his Strega friends, Niko giving a thumbs-up in response. "Hell yeah you should've! I'll--" Hang on, reel in that enthusiasm a bit. "...Well, right now I'm not gonna do too much of anything, but once I get the all clear on this arm, I'll be back to showin' 'em what for. We'll get this shit done right yet, don't you worry 'bout that!"

Looks like Niko's back to her normal self. In as far as the word 'normal' applies to her in any way. But then, that was never the hard part, was it? All it takes is telling her what she wants to hear.

<Pose Tracker> Tatsuya Sudou has posed.

Sudou smiles and stands up stretching, "Damn right I should leave it to you. I should have done that with a lot of things. " He glances around at the Sanitarium. " I got to do a thing soon at the aerospace museum, so I don't think you will get to help with that. BUT! But, after that I promise to work with Strega more and stop doing my own thing."

Walking over to the last lone can, Sudou reaches down and claims it, "You know. I think I am going to talk to Takaya of claiming this place for us. There are hundreds of room, a real kitchen and cafeteria, and if you ignore the blood stains it would be great. " Sudou peers around a little more.

Looking back at Niko he smiles, "Thanks for coming to hang out with me by poolside, I look forward to doing it again."

<Pose Tracker> Niko Kirisaki has posed.

Yesss, more faith in Niko, that'll give her all the motivation she needs. She did do her best to show how serious she is about her support, it's about time Sudou noticed she can and will get things done. "Done deal, I'll look into a few things so I'll be ready for action once you're done with your whatever it is!" Strega may be all about doing your own thing, she gets it, but she for one is looking forward to more actual teamwork.

Slamming back her own soda, she casually tosses it over her shoulder, adding it to the scattered pile. "Man, you know what, that's a great idea, no one's gonna want to be around here anymore after what went down. Solid hangout, bet they left lots of stuff behind that we could use, too." Who's gonna be bothered by a few blood stains, phsaw. As an afterthought, she considers, "Guess we're gonna need a new door then." That sounds like a whole lot of not her problem.

With a little hop, she's back to her feet in no time flat, using the good hand to make a fingergun gesture. "Any time, dude, same here. Looking forward to more funtimes with Ojisan~"

that sounds so wrong Niko are you trying to give people the wrong idea?
