>Jun-san, could we talk?? in-person. anywhere's OK!
One text and another led to Lisa Silverman trekking from school to Kaori, where she's still in her Sevens uniform. The perfume and aromatherapy shop is beautiful; it has nice cream-and-wood walls, a central pillar that's like a tree, and of course, the kind owner. It's very relaxing in here... which is good!
Lisa could use a little relaxing, even if it's more 'reflective' on her part than 'stressed'.
She's waiting in a corner looking over some displays, and luckily, nobody expects the idol to meet a boy at the aromatherapy shop!!! ...not that... she'd be meeting Jun for that anyway...
She manages to almost look unobtrusive, though. It's a lovely, sunny day out!
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
> All right. I have business in Rengedai; how about somewhere in there?
Kaori is the ultimately accepted-upon spot. After a brief stop at the Time Castle, Jun joins Lisa at the perfume shop. It's no florist, but it is a lovely place that he enjoys visiting. Part of the beauty of flowers is their scent, after all, and there's no better place for that than a shop named for it.
The door jingles as Jun enters, clad in his Kasugayama High uniform--with a nemophila flower tucked in his breast pocket. He hasn't been wearing any flowers for the past few weeks, not since the first time he and Lisa met at Yua's dance studio, and it certainly wasn't a nemophila back then, so this is new.
He glances around and quickly spots Lisa, however disguised she may or may not be. He approaches with a smile, raising his free hand in a wave.
"Lisa-san, hello," he says pleasantly. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting long?"
...Which might be a standard opening line when meeting for a date, but rest assured, he doesn't think of this as a date either. It's just polite to check.
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
It is pretty nice. Lisa ends up here a lot, actually. For some reason she feels a lot better when she's done here...
Jingle! Lisa looks at Jun as he enters, and waves. She's not particularly disguised; she mostly relies on luck. She waves back, smiling too. "Hi, Jun-san."
"No, no, it's cool," she says. "I like it here anyway, so I didn't notice."
It's very polite. "I'm glad you came out." Pause. "To meet me." Pause. "I mean, how are you?"
She seems a little... distracted. Or nervous. Or something along those lines anyway.
But she's making sure not to launch into it too quick, either.
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"This is a wonderful spot to simply look at products and wile the time away. Even if you don't purchase any of the aromatherapy packages, it's such a relaxing place to visit," Jun agrees. That's nice to know, that Lisa wasn't bothered by any wait. ...Hopefully she really wasn't waiting that long, though. An idol's got a busy schedule.
He pauses, though, at how distracted she seems. Her reply is a little disjointed. "I'm doing all right..." he says, a touch cautiously. "Is everything all right with you? You wanted to discuss something with me, right?"
He's not sure what she'd want to discuss with him, but if she needs help, he's certainly open to helping her. Not that she feels nostalgic to him or anything, but he has taken a quick shine to her, perhaps because Yua-sensei was the one who introduced them.
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"It is!" Lisa agrees. "And it's good for a lot of problems, too. They say it can cure anything, and while I'm not sure that's true, it's always been good for me."
She really wasn't waiting that long, though; she just wasn't paying close attention to the time so she isn't sure.
"Oh, it's fine!" Lisa says. "Er, I mean, I'm OK. I just... Yeah, there was something I wanted to talk about. I'm not sure if I'm looking for advice, exactly, or just... wanted someone to talk to about it."
"If that's OK."
Pause. "Since, uh..."
She glances around the room to make sure they're reasonably alone in this corner. She trusts Jun a lot more than she would usually trust a new friend. It's probably just because they get along so well.
"I kind of... kissed a girl the other day? And then invited her to the concert?" Her voice is low.
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"Of course it's okay. Even if I can't offer any advice, I'm happy to lend a listening ear," Jun says encouragingly. If it's boy troubles, well... certainly he can commiserate with those, even if he doesn't really have any helpful words about how to deal with it.
It's not boy troubles, though. It's girl troubles. Jun looks around the shop with her when she does, and when they focus on each other, he raises his eyebrows at the news. His gaydar is usually fairly good, but for some reason he hadn't expected this from her.
"Oh, my," he murmurs back. He remembers those two girls who invited Lisa to go celebrate with them after the show and wonders, "Was it anyone I was near in line? Or would you rather keep that a secret? Either way, please do go on."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
Girl troubles!! ...She does also have boy troubles, of course. But she hasn't kissed any boys recently, unlike this girl.
Lisa hides this part of herself pretty well--she hides a lot of herself pretty well, actually. But, his murmur back gets a nod. "Can't say," she says. "We agreed it had to be secret... and while she'd probably be OK with me telling you, I haven't asked."
"But yeah... It's like..."
"It's not like we're planning to date officially or anything," she says. "It's not what either of us is after. It's just sort of hitting me that it's a real thing anyway, though."
"Like... if I can't have a boyfriend, I definitely can't have a girlfriend, right?" It's rhetorical; she's pretty sure of the answer.
"I just realied that I don't really have anybody but her to talk to about it... I'm not even sure what Sheba and Mee-ho would think."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
'Can't say.' That's very fair. This isn't a society in which one can come out of the closet without being prepared for it. Jun might've been bullied in school over it, but he was prepared to defend himself too. He nods once in understanding. Ririka had her date there too...
Lisa explains the situation further. Not even her best friends and co-idols know, it turns out, but she needs to talk to someone about it. "And I'm definitely not someone who would judge you for it," Jun concludes. He doesn't ask her how she knows he's gay; she worked with his mother on SMILE, which means she almost certainly knows about her pro-LGBTQ+ campaigning and how she said she was doing it for her gay son.
"Well, there's nothing wrong about kissing someone of the same sex. It doesn't even mean you're a lesbian, necessarily," he continues. "You could be bisexual, or you could even be straight but bicurious. Sometimes you need to experience things personally before you know how you feel about them."
Not that he's ever kissed anyone, but Jun was very sure at a young age that he only likes boys. That gave him the freedom to not have to be with a boy first know that's what he wants.
"Still, it's true about the love ban. You could probably sneak around it more easily with a girlfriend, but once the truth got exposed, it would be a much bigger scandal."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
Lisa didn't notice Ririka having a date because her gaydar is as yet untested. Still developing. ...Not very good.
But Jun concludes, "Right. Your mom is so cool about this stuff..." And she's pretty sure Jun is gay. She had a whole embarrassing moment about talking on and on about it in front of an actually gay guy right there!
"Yeah!" Lisa agrees, and then makes sure her voice stays low. "..Mmm, yeah. Like... OK. You know how girls practice sometimes," she says, as if that's just incontrovertible fact, "I just kinda realized that um... It wasn't just practice, for me."
"Hai, hai. Bisexual," she says. "That's the word she used. I think that's it? I'm not like, all gay or anything, I like boys and all. But she was just... really cute, and we had this kind of chemistry, and..."
She sighs. "The love ban. I really miss that kind of thing, you know? Houshounah..."
"But um, right. I want to talk to them, too, but... Maybe not... before I get to figure out what I'm feeling."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
In fairness to Lisa: Jun knew that Ririka was going on a date with a girl in the near future, because she told him so. Seeing her with Ikumi, it just made sense.
He smiles when Lisa compliments his mom. He is proud of her--she's always supported him, but when she realized she still had blinders on, she didn't just take them off but hurled them into the horizon and started doing whatever she could to make sure he could find his happiness in the future. (Also, Junko wants to be The Mom Of The Bride one day, and if Jun is the only child she ever has, she'll take it. That's something she hasn't discussed with him per se, though.)
Girls practice sometimes. Jun isn't so sure about that, but he nods anyway. When Lisa confirms a minute later that she's pretty sure she's bisexual, and the girl she kissed called herself bisexual, he's not even a little surprised. The gaydar is immediately back in action.
"Wise. If you're afraid it might cause trouble, then you should at least be certain of how you feel before you start trouble," Jun replies. "It sounds to me like you are certain already, though." He pauses, considering her sighing about the love ban. "Have you had many romantic partners before?"
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
Junko... is very formidable.
Lisa's gaydar might be a little more out of whack than she imagines. But she's pretty sure it's a thing!
But, "Yeah. ...Well..." She nods. "I kind of am; I know I like her, anyway. And neither of us wants like, a serious relationship right now; I can't, and she's got... her own feelings, about that."
"A few," she says. "I had a few boyfriends since middle school, and I've kissed some boys at parties," she says, also keeping her voice low. "Just that kind of thing."
"...Have you?" she wonders. "Oh, is that too personal? I'm spilling my guts and all but you might not want to say..."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
VERY formidable. Like a Queen, even.
"Hmmm." Jun folds his arms and settles a hand on his chin. Lisa already said they don't want a serious relationship, but... it sounds like the other girl has some hang-ups about it anyway. ...Jun can relate, honestly. He wants a relationship with Tatsuya, but the two of them can't be together... Lisa's situation surely isn't nearly so dire, but it's still a love that can't be.
"Do you want to... kiss her again, even if you don't want to seriously date her?" he suggests lightly.
She confirms she's had some boyfriends and kissed some boys. That's another possible scandal; Jun hopes not, though.
Pink rises in his cheeks when Lisa asks him about his kissing history, and he straightens, startled. "N-no," he stammers. He glances away. "No, it's all right... There's someone I like, but..." The bittersweet softness in his brown eyes says it all.
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
Lisa has a lot of feelings and thoughts both about love and relationships... and frankly, she isn't sure she has time to date somebody with everything going on, even if it weren't banned. But..
"...Yes," Lisa answers, glancing to the side, a little red. "I do."
It could be a scandal itself, but probably Ginji's smoothed such a possibility over. He's very good at spin control! ...Somehow.
But as he blushes too, "Oh! Sorry-ia," Lisa apologizes for startling him, more than just for asking the question at all. "...Ah," she says. "So it's like that."
She sighs. "...I know it might not seem like I get it," she says, "Since I've got kind of the opposite problem..."
"...but there's a guy I like, too, you know. Not that he's ever at school anymore. And not that I could act on it if he was."
"Hearts aren't easy, huh?"
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"I see," Jun murmurs, watching Lisa avert her eyes with sympathy.
"I-it's okay," he adds when she apologizes. "It's only fair to ask a question like that after you've been pouring your heart out. Really, I should have expected it, all considering."
So she likes this girl she just recently kissed... but she also has a guy she likes. However, he's unavailable on multiple levels. Jun breathes a faint sigh. "Certainly not," he says gloomily. "The boy I like isn't around much either... He's got something very important he's doing. I do what I can to support him, but he wants to handle it on his own, so I hardly ever see him either."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"I need to talk to Sheba and Mee-ho," Lisa decides. That's what she thinks about that. But--
But now she's thinking about Jun!! "If you're sure," she says. "Still, I'm not... good at being gentle with all this," she admits. "It's easier to go all or nothing."
Very important...? "Wow... It's weird, that we have such important stuff going at our age," she says quietly.
"Ah, well, it could be worse," Lisa says, her voice still quiet but a little brighter. "You could be into Tatsuya Suou, like me!"
She couldn't give him the name of the girl, but she can at least share her crush.
"I haven't even seen him in ages..."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"If they truly care about you, they should accept you as you are--even if it might take them a bit of time," Jun says bracingly. Hopefully the two of them do truly care about Lisa. It can come to pass that one's friends are only friends as long as it's convenient; that's the origin of the term 'fair weather friends.'
All or nothing... Jun chuckles a bit. "It's not bad to have a forceful personality, despite what many might say. We can't live our lives only thinking of others; sometimes we need to live freely as ourselves." He's a polite young Japanese man--but he's still an Aquarius.
He doesn't remark on the age-appropriateness or lack thereof of 'important stuff.' He knows he doesn't know the half of it.
But then--
Ah, well, it could be worse.
"Oh?"
You could be into Tatsuya Suou, like me!
"..........."
Color rises again in Jun's pale cheeks, this time red instead of pink. As Lisa muses on how long it's been since she's seen him, he looks away, heart banging on his ribcage.
"......oh......"
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"...Yeah," Lisa says. "I'm sure they do. So I'm sure they will." Pause. "...It might take them time, but... Sheba's the one who smoothed it over when people found out I don't speak English. I can talk about anything else with Mee-ho. So..."
A forceful personality. "...Right," Lisa says, and smiles. "It's like that. My dad always wants me to be more 'demure', but..." She shakes her head. "Anyway. You're right!" And Lisa, a Taurus, might inevitable charge in...
But it could be worse! And then, suddenly:
"Oh," Lisa says, and tilts her head. "Oh?" she wonders.
"...Oh. Aiyah..."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"Then I'm sure it will be fine. True friends are the greatest allies one can have," Jun tells Lisa firmly.
It's hard to imagine straightforward Lisa as 'demure'--and this is without knowing her love of kung fu. Jun shakes his head a bit. It's always sad when one's parents' expectations don't match up with one's reality.
But then...
"Um." Jun dithers for a moment; then he sighs, deeply. "...Yes. I'd heard he was popular at his school, but... to think I'd unwittingly have a love talk with one of his fans..." Still looking away, he smiles bittersweetly. "Not that either of us could... be with him."
He almost said 'win his heart,' but he's not fully sure of that when it comes to himself. At the very least, a version of Jun might have done just that.
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Thanks."
Lisa does love kung fu. And dancing! And going out! And all sorts of things an idol shouldn't, but somehow a few of those have been turned into positives. ...For now, anyway.
Um.
"Yeah, it's... pretty funny," Lisa says without actually laughing at all. "Oh, you..."
"You're sure you couldn't?" she wonders. "...I don't even know that much about him," she admits. "I know... I have a feeling that he wouldn't just see an idol, though. There's something about him, I don't know what it is... But I feel like I've waited for him for a long time..."
"...I don't know," Lisa says. "I'm sure that sounds weird. How can you be nostalgic for something that never happened? It doesn't make any sense."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
Funny. Yes. Utterly hilarious.
Is he sure he couldn't? Jun doesn't answer that at first. He wishes they could, but... there's so much he doesn't know--so much he can't know, because he promised he wouldn't remember. "It seems unlikely," he finally decides to say. He looks up, though, as Lisa continues.
"...Lisa-san?"
A cold feeling spiders up Jun's spine.
Surely not her too...?
No--no, that's ridiculous, he decides, shaking his head. In everything he's seen and experienced so far, he's never had any indication that someone like her might be involved with the Other Side. He didn't even get a fleeting sense of déjà vu from her, unlike Tatsuya or Maya or even Eikichi. It could be that Lisa actually met Tatsuya in childhood, or something like that.
"Maybe he reminds you of someone you used to know," Jun suggests accordingly. (A part of him doesn't want to suggest that maybe it was Tatsuya himself that Lisa used to know.) "Or maybe the fact that he's so direct appeals to you. Certainly he's not the type who'd buy in to the glitz and glamor of an idol. And..." He looks away again, a certain warmth coloring his expression. "He is the type who makes you feel safe when he's near you... Like everything's going to be all right."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
It seems unlikely. "That sucks," Lisa says, but continues on to say...
She doesn't know what Jun doesn't share, of course; she doesn't know that she could be involved in such a thing, or even what could be there. Those things just don't happen; they're stories, and not stories she's read.
"...Hm," she says. "That could be," she says. "..." She looks at him, with that warmth. "...Hm..."
"...Even if it seems unlikely," Lisa says, "It's... nice, to see that kind of feeling. Maybe you've got more claim than I do after all anyway."
She likes him, but...
There's a beauty in that kind of feeling. And does she need it?
What could be wrong with her life?
"Anyway thanks," she says. "I'm sure all that's true about how he just reminds me of somebody. And for the other stuff, um..."
"Thanks."
<Pose Tracker> Jun Kashihara has posed.
"Aha... It doesn't matter what 'claim' I have or don't have if he doesn't want to accept it. Still... thank you, too."
Jun offers her a smile. "I hope we both find the one who's right for us one day," he adds. "As long as we're here right now, though--how about we enjoy an aromatherapy session together?"
It could be just the thing to lift their spirits, whether it cures them of what ails them or not. After all, can even Rumor-powered aromatherapy cure acute heartache?
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Well, that's true," Lisa says. "But I hope he does. ...Not that i'm necessarily giving up myself, you understand." Not until she knows what she's really feeling, anyway. "I do, too. And you know? That sounds great!"
It's worth a try! And even if it doesn't...
It will indeed still be nice.
