"That's right, officer," the Woman from Parabellum nods, her hands folded over her cocktail dress as she sits in the interview room. Her husband's name is Imagashi; her name is in the file, but Kimitake doesn't really think of it, as he's speaking with her. "I saw it myself... the officer showed that man his badge, and said those other people were cooperating with him."
"Can you describe them, for the record?" Kimitake is a tall man with dark green hair and the Ijuuin's signature sharp and severe features; despite them, his voice is soft, and the contrast between the two grants him a certain appeal.
"There were a couple of women with short brown hair... one with short dark hair, and another with dark hair down to her shoulders, I remember both those dark-haired women were quite tall... oh, and there was his partner, too!" Imagashi-san frowns, as she recalls him. "That man gave me a really skeevy feeling... his hair was longer than any of the women's, earrings, and these impenetrable black glasses! I remember it clear as day!"
"I see," Kimitake says, as he makes another note -- assisting in the impersonation of an officer. "And what did the officer do which upset you?"
"Well, that partner of his assaulted a man who just needed to go to the bathroom! Grabbed him, physically! And that Suou-san, he didn't do anything! I was having a little cheeky listen, and I heard the officer himself saying that man's life was in danger! Oh, I thought it was terribly inappropriate for the police to threaten someone like that... but it wasn't until I spoke to my friend at lawn bowls that she recognised those red glasses of his!"
"I'm very disappointed than an officer would conduct himself in this way," Kimitake frowns, with all due concern. "Please rest assured, Imagashi-san -- we take these reports seriously. It may take a little while for all due process... but I'll give you my personal assurance that we'll hold our force to your standards."
"Oh, I'm just glad someone is doing something," the Woman from Parabellum sighs, smiling with relief. "Will that be all, officer? I must be back to pick the boys up from school..."
"That will be all," Kimitake smiles, to her. "Thank you for your time, Imagashi-san. It's thanks to concerned citizens like you that we're able to hold Sumaru to such a high standard."
He says what he needs to say, to get the interviews. The housewife's account isn't even the most damning one, as he packages it up for his folder, once she's gone.
"Assault of a citizen... that's police brutality, Suou-san," Kimitake clicks his tongue, as he sees that file when he's slipping his interview into the folder. "And all these accounts of standing aside and letting it happen, too..."
Leading the Investigators is Captain Shimazu, and he finishes reading the file, folding it back down onto his desk and sitting back in his chair. The door to his office is closed; his meeting with Kimitake Ijuuin is not a matter for the precinct.
There are many who would not object -- but Kimitake himself tries to keep his image clean.
Of the first amongst them who would, Shimazu taps the file. "You've collected a convincing case," he admits, to the man sitting straight and proper opposite him. "But with what there is here... by policy, I would need to issue leave with pay."
"Ah," Kimitake says, delicately. "Our final line of defence. I understand. What is your recommendation, sir?"
"I understand you recently adopted a daughter," Shimazu starts. Kimitake nods -- and the Captain goes on. "She attends Seven Sisters, yes?"
"That's correct."
"Then she'll be familiar with those targets," Captain Shimazu presumes. "Deploy her to retrieve Katayama-san. According to our records, she's connected to people close to the dutiful son... they'll come for her."
"She is... proving to be something of a blunt instrument, sir," Kimitake admits, with regret.
"Keeping your house in order is your own business," Shimazu says, and in their manner it is devastatingly direct. "If the children involve themselves, simply send them along with her. That man will find a use for them."
"As you wish," Kimitake bows his head, and tucks away some anger for later.
