Shinobu Shimizu is the middle of three sisters and lives a life that seems to be in a constant state of aimlessness, shuffling from one job to the next. It isn't uncommon to see her, for example, behind the counter of a fast food restaurant one week and moving boxes in a warehouse another, taking whatever job will pay her and drifting off to the next once it's run its course. As a result, however, she's gotten to know quite a few people and picked up a number of increasingly-esoteric skills along the way. Though she's a little rough around the edges and can seem harsh at times, Shinobu is an honest person who does her best to look after those around her. Her encounter with the demon of the Man-Eating Alley opened her eyes to the world's hidden dangers, and now she patrols Hirasaka Ward and beyond as both sidejob and self-imposed duty to keep people safe from the supernatural threats others can't see... though a part of her wonders how sustainable this truly is.

Background

Shinobu Shimizu was born on August 11th, 1983 to Satsuki and Kenzou Shimizu. She already had an older sister - though she would before long lose the title of youngest, becoming the middle child of three.

Her upbringing was a strict one - their parents demanding the best of their children. Shinobu found herself unable to measure up to those standards, so she got attention the only way she knew how - causing trouble. She stayed out late, got into fights, made questionable friends... maybe did a little petty crime. They disapproved, but at least it was something they had to deal with her for - though at the same time, she found herself dissatisfied.

In 1999, she would start her first year at Shujin Academy. She didn't fit their behavioral standard, but her grades were too good to just kick her out. They were eager to find some reason to get rid of her - and they would, when an incident eventually led to her getting into a fistfight at school. She was expelled and transferred to Akiyama High School, the reform school for girls. There, she met a lot of girls in her own situation... and faced with the same tough attitude she'd been showing to the world, she gradually mellowed out. In 2001, she would graduate at the top of her class.

She took a year to enjoy her newfound freedom and then, rather than go on to college, elected to try officework. She would last a year there before putting her boss through a table and quitting - from then on, turning her focus toward smaller, more temporary jobs she could pick up and put down at any time. Not the most glamorous or highest paying jobs, but they helped her get by. In each one, she's made a point of getting to know people as best she can, forming a widening net of connections.

In 2009, Shinobu moved to Sumaru City's Hirasaka Ward for a long-term job - and even after her contract was up, liked the place enough to stay there.

Persona

Lachesis - A shadowy woman in a hooded cloak, its hood pulled back to reveal her face. She carries a long notched measuring rod, bearing numbers on one side and symbols on the other that change and shift as one looks upon it.

She is the middle of the Moirai sisters in Greek mythology - the three Fates who preside over the destiny of mortals and gods alike. Lachesis is the apportioner, measuring out the thread of each person's life with her rod and determining their destiny.
