  • OOC Date: September 08, 2025

  • Summary: Kazusa and her friend Wakana make a trip to Tatsumi to take advantage of a promotion at Kenneth Arnold: the release of a new anime OST and a free art book, while supplies last. Also in line hoping to get an art book is Fuula, and the three of them (okay, mostly two of the three) get to talking.

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

There are certainly easier ways for Kazusa to get things than to go allll the way to Tatsumi to get them. The resons she is here are... complciated but they make sense to her. Basically, she's worried about being seen in Akihabara.

There's too many people there that might recognize her. Not to mention that her family's company has ties there.

So Kazusa is here incognito. Mostly. She's got straight black hair, purple eyes half-hidden behind a low pair of shades, a rich pink halter top, kapris, and sandals. Several silver bracelets are on each wrist, and she has a small black purse slung over one shoulder. She's currently waiting at the end of a line in the Kenneth Arnold, looking impatient.

Next to her is a much more relaxed girl, about her age with short brown hair, and a floral print dress. She has a backpack on, and she's chatting with the other girl.

There's a new album being sold today, and some signs advertise some special promo items being given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

Usually, Fuuka tries to avoid crowds. Usually, she wouldn't even leave the dorm today without good reason. It happens, today, that she does have a good reason - there's a new album releasing today at Kenneth Arnold, and she's interested in the promotional items being offered alongside it.

She missed the last event like this because it happened during her time in Tartarus. She promised herself that she wouldn't miss this one, so she made herself get up as early as she could.

...Saying that, though...

There are a lot of people here, aren't there? She's never been great with crowds...

Fuuka is near the back of the line right now, in a sundress of alternating shades of blue and light sea green accented with yellow, frills separating each layer. She's wearing white heeled shoes, and currently has her school bag with her.

She's a little nervous about being around so many other people, but at least there's only two other people behind her right now... even if she'd rather be closer to the front.

She steals a quick glance behind her - the two girls seem to know each other. Kazusa is here incognito, but it does make her stand out a little bit.

...Fuuka looks back to the front quickly, in hopes she wasn't noticed.

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Those two girls do know each other. They're chatting back and forth in quiet, hushed tones, though Kazusa, in the shades, is obviously the more impatient of the two.

"What's taking so long?" Kazusa grumbles quietly.

"Come on, Kazu-chan," says Wakana, next to her with a more upbeat attitude. "The clerks are doing their best."

Kazusa rolls her eyes. "I'd better not have come all this way for nothing."

Fuuka takes that glance back, and then looks forward, hoping not to be noticed... except she is.

"What are you looking at?" says Kazusa shortly.

"Come on, don't be like that," says Wakana in a hushed voice. "We're not at school." Wakana then leans forward to tap Fuuka lightly on the shoulder. "Sorry about that, my friend's just a little cranky because we had to get up early today. Are you here for the art book, too?"

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

Fuuka flinches as she's called out.

Oh, this was a bad idea. She should have asked Natsuki or one of the girls from the dorm to come with her, but she was too embarrassed to ask them to come with her for something so... unapologetically nerdy.

Asking the guys, of course, was completely out of the question.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare..." Fuuka apologizes. The girl in the sunglasses seems impatient and on-edge...

The other girl taps her on the shoulder and apologizes, and Fuuka shakes her head.

"It's alright. Waiting in line isn't fun for anyone..." She replies - and then, after a moment, nods. "Um... Yes, I am."

There's no point in lying. Most people in this line are, she imagines.

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Would it help Fuuka to know that she's not the only one in this line hiding a nerdy interest? Not that that person would ever admit to that being what she's doing, of course...

Wakana smiles as Fuuka says that she's here for the art book. "Us, too! I'm--"

"I'm not." Kazusa interjects quickly.

Wakana looks flustered for a moment. "W-well, what I meant to say is... she's picking it up for someone else." She casts a worried glance to Kazusa, who just rolls her eyes and then nods.

"R-right, so..." Wakana finds her footing again. "I'm Wakana Oosaka, and this is Kazusa Motojima. What's your name?"

Motojima is a name that might be of interest to Fuuka. They're a family-owned corporation, one that produces both home electronics and video games (and consoles), among a smattering of other things.

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

Wakana says that they're here for the artbook - but Kazusa says that she isn't. Fuuka looks toward her briefly, then back toward Wakana. She offers her a sympathetic glance and a small, encouraging smile at that flustered look. This situation - she hopes she's just imagining things, because it feels a little... familiar.

'Picking it up for someone else', though... Fuuka's not going to call her on it, on the off-chance that's actually what's happening there.

"It's... nice of you to do that." Fuuka says, leaving it vague as to who she actually means.

Wakana introduces herself and Kazusa - and Fuuka looks toward the latter. There's a look on her face that suggests clear recognition.

"I'm Fuuka Yamagishi... It's nice to meet both of you." Fuuka offers with a small smile. "Do you go by Port Island often?"

She looks toward Kazusa, then.

"I apologize if I'm just assuming, but... do you have any relation to the Motojima Corporation?" She asks.

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Wakana just gives Fuuka an awkward smile. It's a bit finnickyu this situation she's in, but she can't really explain...

It's nice of her, Fuuka says, and though it's ambiguous, Kazusa sorts. "Yeah, whatever. Wakana-chan just really wanted to come out this way. I'm here to check out some of the clothing stores."

"Nice to meet you, Yamagishi-san!" says Wakana cheerfully.

Kazusa, on the other hand looks at Fuuka and just gives her a reluctant, "Hey."

"Oh, not that often," Wakana says next. "We both actually attend Shujin Academy, in Tokyo. But we were coming out this way anyway, so..."

But then Fuuka asks that question. Kazusa's eyes flick over to look at Fuuka over the tops of her shades, and she stands up a little straighter. She brushes some hair behind her shoulder. "My father is the CFO of Motojima Corporation. What's it to you?"

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

Fuuka takes in that awkward smile, but she won't make her explain. She doesn't want to cause trouble - especially if she's reading things wrong.

"I see... Well, it's nice when you can take care of multiple things as a group." Fuuka replies, as Kazusa insists she's here to check out the clothing stores. She meets Wakana's cheerful greeting with a smile, and a nod toward Kazusa's reluctant 'hey'.

They're Shujin students... that makes sense.

"I see... Then, welcome." She offers. "I attend Gekkoukan, myself, but... you could probably already tell."

The emblem is on her school bag, after all.

Fuuka asks her question - and she can see the way Kazusa looks at her, and stands up a little straighter.

...Her first instinct is to flinch away. Kazusa isn't that much taller than her, but standing up straight like that makes a lot of difference - it's a little intimidating... But, she resists, with some effort.

"I was just curious. I'm... familiar with the brand." Fuuka explains. Anyone who's at least passingly familiar with electronics would be - and she's already past that level.

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Sadly, Fuuka's impression isn't entirely off the mark.

"It is!" Wakana agrees of doing multiple things, and as a group. (Kazusa is looking disinterestedly elsewhere.)

"Thanks!" But Fuuka is from Gekkoukan. "Oh, yeah!" Wakana agrees, checking out that logo. "I see it now. Do you ever make your way up to Tokyo?"

Fuuka doesn't flinch. But, Kazusa is looking down her nose at the other girl, now. "Do you want a medal or something? A lot of people are familiar with Motojima's products. Don't go thinking you can ask me for favors or anything."

Wakana's smile falters and then vanishes, and she looks to her friend. "Kazusa..." she says quietly, under her breath.

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

"I usually like to stay close to home..." Fuuka admits with a shake of her head. "But, there's a lot of things there I can't find anywhere else, so, sometimes."

Kazusa, meanwhile, looks down her nose at her. Fuuka can practically feel the judgment... It's difficult to take. Her hands fidget with the straps of her schoolbag nervously... but she manages to keep herself from fleeing the situation, at least.

"No, that wasn't my intent..." Fuuka replies, shaking her head. "I just wanted to know. That's all."

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Sometimes! Wakana smiles, "Well, if you ever see me out that way, say hi." She does not include Kazusa in that invitation, notably.

Fuuka stands her ground--or at the very least, doesn't flee. Kazusa stares at her for a few moments longer and then huffs. "Well now you know, alright?" She looks away, sparing Fuuka further attention, for now.

And akward silence follows, and Wakana looks nervously between the two girls. "S-soo... Yamagishi-san... know any cool spots to visit around here?"

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

"I will, thank you." Fuuka replies with a nod and a small smile. Kazusa, meanwhile, isn't offerine her that same warmth. Instead, she stares her down, that that silence is almost worse - for a moment, she feels like she'll wither away in the face of her judgment. ...But she huffs and elects to spare her, and Fuuka nods.

"...Alright. Don't worry, I won't, um... spread it around, or anything." She assures.

...Awkward silence... For what feels like an eternity, the only sound is the sound of muttering and shuffling steps from other people in line. Thankfully, Wakana breaks the silence.

...Cool spots...

What do girls her age think of as 'cool'? She feels so out of touch at times...

Don't say 'the bookstore', she reminds herself. That's a fraught subject for you, anyway.

"Um, this would probably be the coolest, but other than that..." Fuuka starts, consideringly. "Rafflesia at Port Island Station has lovely flowers, and Screen Shot Theatre is right nearby. If you're looking for food, the Iwatodai strip mall has a lot of good restaurants."

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Fuuka won't spread it around. "Good," is all Kazusa says to that.

During that Awkward silence Kazusa is taking glances towards the front of the line, to see how much longer is left.

Wakana should have probably specified what type of 'cool' spot, but oh well. But she is listening. "Oh yeah, I think I remember seeing that on our way over," she says of Rafflesia. "Screen Shot Theater... that's a clever name."

"Iwatodai strip mall... oh, that's that's off of Iwatodai station, right? We'll pass by there on our way back Tokyo," continues Wakana. "We should grab something on our way back, Kazu-chan."

Kazusa shrugs. "Fine, if you can't wait."

Wakana's enthusiasm is dampened for a moment as she looks to her friend, but then she looks to Fuuka. "Well, thanks for the recommendations."

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

Fuuka takes occasional looks toward the front, too... It's easier than looking back at the people she's talking to, and there's less chance of accidentally catching Kazusa's eye again.

"It is, isn't it?" Fuuka agrees, as Wakana comments on the name of the theater. "And, yes, it is. It's only a short walk, so it's really convenient."

There's another back and forth between Wakana and Kazusa, and that dismissal... Fuuka frowns, just slightly.

"You're welcome. I'm glad to help." She replies, offering Wakana a 'hang in there' smile. "I hope your trip back is a safe one... and that you enjoy the rest of your time here."

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

As it happens, the line is picking up. It looks like another cashier came on shift, so they can help more people now.

Wakana accepts the 'hang in there' smile with an apologetic one. "Eh heh... thank you very much, Yamagishi-san."

"Next!" calls the cashier. And look at that, the cahsier is looking expectantly at Fuuka. She's in luck: they still have those promo art books left to go with those soundtracks.

Wakana and Kazusa will also get called up in short order, and soon all three girls can get out of the store with the items they were looking for. (Or picking up for someone ele, in Kazusa's case.)

<Pose Tracker> Fuuka Yamagishi has posed.

"You're welcome." Fuuka replies with a nod. And then, there's a call of 'Next' and Fuuka realises - they've made it up to the front! She approaches the register, and in short order she has her soundtrack and artbook. She holds both out in front of her, looking at them with a relieved smile.

She's glad she was able to secure this one...

She stows them both inside her bag, and waits for Kazusa and Wakana to finish their purchases.

"I'm glad - it looks like we were all able to get one..." She says, relieved. "I should be heading back now, but... it was nice meeting you both. I'll see you around sometime...?"

<Pose Tracker> Kazusa Motojima has posed.

Wakana is all too glad to stop and talk to Fuuka a moment longer. Kazusa stops mostly because Wakana stopped.

"Looks like it!" Wakana says cheerfully, holding up her pair of soundtrack and art book. She gives Kazusa a gentle elbow nudge, and Kazusa sighs and holds hers up without saying anything.

"Take care, Yamagishi-san," says Wakaba. "Don't forget to say hi if you ever see me in Tokyo!"

Kazusa just gives a nod of acknowledgement, and then hands her two items to Wakana. "Here."

Wakana takes it and stashes it, and the two begin to look for the clothing stores next.
