"You call that an outfit?"

Behind her back, people call Kazusa the Demon Queen of Shujin... and she doesn't care. Kazusa is rich, popular, stylish, and a star of Shujin's Rhythmic Gymnastics team. She has followers who hang on her every word, but for those who don't fit the mold of what's 'acceptable' she can be vicious and cruel. And of course, most people know her last name from the Motojima Corporation, makers of video games and home electronics. (Not that Kazusa would be caught dead playing a video game, mind you.) Kazusa does genuinely put in the hard work for (most) of what she has, and she demands excellence from those around her, but this can also lead her to being impatient and short-tempered for those who can't keep up. What most people don't know, however, is her cruel demeanor masks a creative and passionate heart, one stifled under the rigid expectations placed upon her.

Background

Kazusa was born to a family legacy: she is a daughter of the Motohima family, who owns the Motojima Corporation, a well-known manufacturer of consumer electronics, consoles, and video games.

Her grandparents, Shigeki and Kae Motojima, are two notable figures in Motojima Corporation's history. As a programmer and artist duo, they made some of the earliest arcade cabinets and console games, helping expand the Motojima Corporation's influence and standing. Kazusa dearly wants to follow in their footsteps, but has faced a constant rodeblock: her father.

Kazuki Motojima is not on good terms with his parents, criticizing their creative efforts and, by extension, his daughter's ambitions. He is the current CFO of the Motojima Corporation, and carries a no-nonsense attitude besides.

Kazusa entered Shujin Academy's system starting with her first year of middle school, and immediately joined the Rhythmic gymnastics club. She also met Wakana Oosaka, a girl who would become her best friend... and eventual semi-lackey. Kazusa's talents for Rhythmic Gymnastics gained her notice, as did her family's wealth and status, combined with an on-point fashion sense.

She became popular... but as she weathered the negative influences of her father, all of that strain and criticism started to be reflected outwards. Starting to criticize anybody who stood out didn't conform to the norms, this habit grew more and more until the students started whispering a name behind her back; "Demon Queen."

Season 1, Episode 1

In her 2nd year of high school, Kazusa's reign as the Demon Queen has continued unabated. However, over the summer break, something happened.

Rumor has it Kazusa was caught out in cosplay at a local video game convention, and by her father no less. The rumor mill has started circulatihg the news, with some unwilling to believe the serious, no-nonsense Demon Queen could be caught up in something so nerdy, and others glad to see her taken down a peg.

But nobody was prepared for what would come next: When the Fall Semester started, Kazusa came back... a lot nicer, as well as a lot brighter and chipper. One would be hard-pressed to reconcile this new version of her with her previous attitude, and there's a good reason for that.

Any Persona User who notices her can tell that the thing wearing Kazusa's skin is definitely not human. She is, in fact, a Homunculus... but really, isn't this version of her much nicer?

Special Skills

Kazusa is an expert at spending her father's money, or so it seems. She is legitimately a talented member of Shujin's Rhythmic Gymnastics Club.

Approaches:

1. Fashion Talk (Academics): You've gotta stay up with the latest trends, right? Getting caught in last season's fashions is such a loser move.

2. Demon Queen (Charm): Love her or hate her (and plenty of people do the latter), Kazusa's got a commanding presence.

3. Rhythm and Flow (Proficiency): Kazusa has spent a long time doing rhythmic gymnastcis, and she has the grace and agility to go with it.

NPC Relationships

Family

Kazuki Motojima (IV. The Emperor): Kazusa's father and the current CFO of the Motojima Corporation. Very stern, and does not see much value in creative vocations, much less his daughter's desire to pursue them; he would much rather Kazusa pursue Rhythmic Gymnastics. Has been verbally abusive of Kazusa's desires and 'unfeminine' traits, leading to her being taken over by a Homunculus. Openly pleased about the Homunculus version of Kazusa and how she seems to be a lot more compliant to his wishes.

Karin Motojima (V. The Hierophant): Kazusa's mother. She is a quiet, soft-spoken woman, who comports herself in a far more traditional way. Her family owns a small flower shop, where she learned the art of flower arrangement. She also performs traditional tea ceremonies and practices calligraphy. She has aligned herself with Kazuki in encouraging her daughter to seek a more traditional path, even if her approach is gentler on its surface.

Kazuhiro Motojima (XVIII. The Moon): Kazusa's younger brother by about a year. A first-year at Shujin Academy and a member of its basketball team. Quietly looks out for his sister. Kazusa may openly draw the most open ire from their father, but he hasn't escaped unscathed either. He's learned to hide his own interests, putting on an air of 'one of the guys' to escape scrutiny from Kazuki. As children they used to be closer but drifted apart due to the pressure and strain. But Kazuhiro helped Kazusa out while she was a Homunculus, at risk to himself, and now both siblings have pledged to support each other against their parents.

Shigeki Motojima (I. The Magician): Kazusa's paternal grandfather. He was one of the earliest programmers for the Motojima Corporation and helped create some of their earliest arcade cabinets and then console games in the 70's and 80's, going on to become a storied producer behind many of the Motojima Corporation's biggest franchises such as Night Parade. He is a boistrous figure when speaking publicly. Doesn't have a great relationship with his son Kazuki.

Kae Motojima (III. The Empress): Kazusa's paternal grandmother. She started at the Motojima Corporation as a graphic artist/designer, but embraced new mediums as they developed which led to her working on some of the Motojima Corporation's earliest video games. She helped pioneer new techniques in digitial art, and over time worked her way up to being an art director for their interactive entertainment division. She and Shigeki met when working on the earliest video games and quickly became a power couple. She is trying to mend her relationship with Shigeki while also taking a firm stance against his treatment of her grandchildren.

Motojima Corporation: The Motojima Corporation is a family-owned company that has grown rapidly over the past few decades. They are primarily known for producing consumer electronics as well as video game consoles, games, and arcade cabinets, as well as other related technologies. They have many long-running popular franchises, including the fighting game series Night Parade.

Friends

Wakana Oosaka (XVII. The Star): Kazusa's closest friend, and the one most privy to her private ambitions... but also all of her reflected negativity. She is a second year student at Shujin Academy, in the same class as Kazusa, and is also a member of the Rhythmic Gymnastics team. Both of them have been practicing Rhythmic Gymnastics together since elementary school, in fact, and Wakana knows that the version of Kazusa that people know as the Demon Queen isn't the way she's always been. She's offered Kazusa chance after chance, even as their relationship strained... but something shifted when Kazusa's Homunculus threatened her. The genuine Kazusa has now offered the apology she always deserved, but while Wakana has accepted the apology as genuine... she isn't ready to offer trust again so readily. Right now they're on a break, and Kazusa is doing her best to give Wakana the space she needs. (Which is difficult, considering they're in the same class and club together.)
