- Summary: Reiya shows up at the dorm with his suitcase, prepared for a new living arrangement. Yukari is there to make sure he feels appropriately welcome.

It's a nice Thursday in Iwatodai, clearer and less stormy than yesterday was in parts of the metro area. That's convenient, because Reiya Aomori has been pulling a suitcase along the sidewalk for some time now. Reiya, as it happens, is boy of blue, slightly shaggy hair and purple eyes, wearing a Gekkoukan uniform that is very neatly kept. He has a white belt and a violet tie, though, his main concessions to individuality.
He reaches the door, and looks up at the large dormitory before him. "Hmm..."
Then, he picks up his suitcase and goes for the door. He opens it, and steps into the lobby, looking around thoughtfully. It is his first time here.

It has been a nice Thursday!
Which is why Yukari Takeba took her time on the way home from school. Reiya's scarcely through the door, when he might understand that a figure - a passer by...
... is turning to follow him inside. "Oh hey..." She's wearing a Pink Cardigan over the uniform of course, with her bag over her shoulder.
In her hand is an Aohige Pharmacy bag.
Then she sees who it is.
"Oh it's just you. The guy who's been making Archery Club pretty awkward lately..."
There's a notable sigh from Yukari as if to say 'Good grief' before she looks his way, "Did someone ask you to help bring their bags here? Kawase-san maybe?"
She steps up near him, switching hands on the Pharmacy bag as she holds out a hand... presuming his intentions here., "If you want, I can take them the rest of the way up so you can head out."

Reiya of course notices someone stealthily moving past. He instinctively shifts out of the way to allow Yukari along--which is perhaps the first sign that there's something suspicious about him.
What kind of guy actually moves out of the way?
Just him. Reiya is, as it turns out, 'just you'. He frowns stoically.
"...I didn't mean to cause you trouble," he says then. But then--
Someone... ask?
"No," Reiya answers.
Pause. The bag, as it happens, is a violet suitcase, with wheels! And it is definitely, "No, it's mine," he says. "The Chairman told me this is where I'd be moving."
"But it's..." Pause. "Nice of you to offer?"

"Well... it hardly matters, because you kinda did."
Yukari says bluntly. As if she doesn't matter if it offends him. "Sheesh. Showing up here... it's going to be all she wants to talk about if anyone saw you heading this way."
There's a shake of her head, and another exasperated sigh at his comment, before Reiya indicates, "Huh?" She blinks, "No way, you're joining SEES?"
The double take is so fierce that Reiya will see her recoil, her body shifting sideways in profile.
"Oh come on." As she complains in resignation, "Why did it have to be an unreliable guy like you... how am I going to explain us living in the same Dorm?"
Yes, because this is definitely all about her.
"I was only offering because I didn't want you to stroll on up to the girls' floors." She clarifies... which no, definitely not being nice about it.

That's pretty blunt. Reiya can handle blunt under most circumstances, and this one he accepts at first, because he does feel bad about Beniho. But, "There wasn't anyone watching," he says, and he sounds pretty sure of that actually. Still, Yukari is surprised, and then Reiya inclines his head. "Yes. The Chairman explained to me what I should expect."
That recoil, though... that gets on his nerves. And he frowns. "I'm not unreliable," he counters. "If I thought I couldn't do the job I wouldn't have accepted." Pause. "Why does that need explaining?" He seems genuinely unaware.
But she was only offering...
"Oh. I see." She is not being nice about it. "They're on opposite sides, right?"

Yukari of course doesn't think he's some sort of stealthy ninja or something. He's just some quiet normal guy, so she blows past his comment that anyone wasn't watching with a roll of her eyes.
'Yeah right.'
As for the Chairman... "Yeah you say that but I kinda doubt you actually get it."
Why does she think of him as unreliable? It has nothing to do with the mission, really. It's just he absolutely broke Beniho's heart.
"I wasn't talking about 'our mission'." Yukari clarifies as much as she's going to, in this verbal dance. There's another dip of her head and a sigh.
Wondering if he's really so clueless that he might not get it even now.
"Boys to the left. Girls to the right. Don't come up the girl's side."
The right side in fact, clearly states that one.
GUYS FORBIDDEN WITHOUT AN INVITATION
VIOLATORS WILL BE EXECUTED
That sure is a sign.

Yukari doesn't believe him. That's fine. He knows the truth.
He frowns a little more when she says he doesn't get it. "What makes you say that?"
Of course it has nothing to do with the mission. But breaking a girl's heart isn't the same as being unreliable, and Yukari only kind of clarifies. He is still frowning. "Maybe you should," he says of talking about the mission. "It's important."
There is indeed a sign. Girls to the right...
Executed, is it? Now he's a little curious.
"I don't see any reason I'd need to." Go up the girl's side, that is.

Instead of answering, Yukari replies to his question... maddeningly, with a question? "Why are you here?" She asks, "Was it because the Chairman asked you?"
As for Reiya indicating that 'Maybe she should.'
"I don't exactly need you to tell me that." She says back, acerbically, "I know what's important. The problem is... I'm not sure that you do."
Fortunately Reiya says he wouldn't go up there.
"Then there won't be any problems living here." She says there, before she moves like she's going to walk away shortly.

A question? And she doesn't need him to tell her that. Reiya is still frowning. "That's why I know what 'here' is. But I'm here to stop Apathy Syndrome. This organization is the best way I know of to do that, since scientists can't do it themselves."
A pause. Acerbic. What's important, she says again. "I do. ...My dad had Apathy Syndrome. Ten years ago. I see the Lost all over."
"If I can do anything to change that, I will. You'll see."
"...The Chairman just gave me the opportunity. I'll show you I'm resolved."
He doesn't talk about the girls' side any more than that.

She goes a little lax... at that comment, but what he says next?
It causes her to grow more distant, "Ten years ago, huh?"
Abstracted... but suspicious. The media only started reporting those cases a few years back...
... three, four years ago, back when she started investigating the Kirijo Group, or rather - trying to...
... if he lost his father to it ten years ago.
Rather than pushing back... "Fine. Get settled in."
She could give him more shit, but the thing is - she's not going to for that reason. And she's also inclined to say less to him.
Ten years ago.
And he knows that for certain...
"You'll have plenty of opportunities soon enough I guess."
But if he had secrets from Beniho before recently, then - what does that say about him, in this light? She's... definitely not going to be forthright about anything else, under these circumstances.
"But don't come crying to me if it turns out to be different than you'd thought it'd be."

Distant. This, he notices; something about 'Ten years ago' is important to her. ...He hasn't made the connection of her name, yet. Maybe he will.
She relents at that, and Reiya nods. "I will," he says. He does know it for certain; he let it slip that he does, when that itself is a secret... but he was angry, and his guard is down, because this is an organization that knows these things.
"Good. ...The Chairman said I'd get the necessary equipment tonight."
Different to how she thought it'd be...
"...I'll keep that in mind."
He's not going to stop her going. But if she doesn't go first, he will--to the boys' side.

Yukari rather than walking in the direction she chose, turns around towards the door.
"Actually I think I forgot something... you go ahead."
She's definitely lying in one sense.
She didn't forget anything.
She's paying Naganaki Shrine a visit early this week.
Despite the belligerent nature of their meeting...
... it did bring what's truly important to her into clarity again.
