  • Summary: In the wake of Kaneshiro's arrest, comes another high profile arrest that rocks Japan's political sphere...

On the same day of Kaneshiro's dramatic confession, capturing the hearts and minds of the youth of Tokyo, there is news of another, far quieter but nevertheless still high profile arrest.

"He's coming out! Koichi Tawarada!"

The police station in Shinjuku was suddenly swarmed by reporters, and flashing camera lights. As a man in a hoodie, with a ball cap beneath it walked out, his face sporting an unshaven, bedraggled beard, as two cops perp walked him forward to a car.

And a woman on the evening news reports to their viewers what is going on, calmly, but with a rising drama, "Suspected of being involved in three murders, Tawarada is the son of the leader of the conservative Liberal Co-Prosperity party, Kosei Tawarada, who is himself suspected of destroying evidence."

"Get your hands off me. Do you know who I am?" An elder statesman in a suit soon followed behind the younger man, wispy white hair and glasses one familiar to people who actually followed the political news, "I'll have you all /sued/ for this treatment."

And behind him, came Goro Akechi, with a grave expression, as the police perp walked the two forward, one of them came forward to Goro, feeling he'd be more /receptive/ to their questioning.

"Akechi-kun! I heard these arrests came about because of something you said!"

"Merely a coincidence. I got lucky." He told them with a certain air of practiced humility, as he kept walking.

"So what'll happen now?"

"I hear the suspect will plead insanity. I doubt that his father will take the same approach due to his position."

As it zoomed out back to the news, the reporter continued, "Cabinet Minister Masayoshi Shido had this to say on the allegations." The view changes, to one of the balding Cabinet Minister with a goatee, "It surprises me very little that even the head of my own party would be responsible for such crimes. Truly the /rot/ in this administration festers unseen. That is why I will do everything in my power to uncover the corruption, and see those responsible punished. Only then may these wounds begin to heal."

"Whereas foreign minister Tatsuzou Sudou, an ally of Tawarada prepared this statement for the press:" Picking up a paper, she reads from it, "It is disappointing that while our country suffers from it's current migrant crisis that some would decide to play politics to try and stir up greater scandal, which is the last thing this country requires. Naturally my office will cooperate fully with this investigation."

It is a quiet thing for those who care little for politics, compared to the arrest of Junya Kaneshiro... but Goro Akechi's reputation suffers very little repercussions as a result in the public eye, despite the 'Phantom Thieves' hitting such a high profile target.
