  • Summary: After rescuing Myunghon from their trip to Mementos, Myunghon's friends are rallying to support them. Remi has offered a spare bedroom in her apartment. They hae a chat, and soon the conversation strays to matters of the heart, where both have something to share.

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

To say this had been a stressful week would be something of an understatement. The encounter with Ishiba at the station, and then the note Myunghon had left behind at the hospital, not to mention her own injury (though she was less concerned with herself than with Myunghon)... Remi had been exposed to another ugly side of humanity she didn't quite know how to handle, piled on top of her own already-complicated feelings about how she relates to some of her closest friends.

And after the scare in Mementos yesterday... Remi wanted most of all to just show support for Myunghon in whatever way she could. And that had meant inviting her to stay, at least for a night, in a place that she could, hopefully, make Myunghon feel safe and comfortable.

She's dressed as she normally as she opens up the apartment: beret, turtleneck, cardigan, skirt, tights, and boots. A bit impractical and overdressed, given the season, but... she seemed to bear it well enough.

"Here we are, dear," she says as she opens the door. She sounds... well, tired, and maybe a bit flat, emotionally. The apartment itself is nice--as it should be, for Aoba. It's also nicely appointed, though it's probably not too hard to discern that Yua has had a hand in decorating the apartment. The living room is cozy, the kitchen neat and tidy, with three succulent plants in pots in front of a window. And down a hallway are two bedrooms, one of them promised to Myunghon.

One bookshelf in the living room looks like it gets the most use from Remi. It's filled with books, many of them from the Cardboard Dragon, as well as a few assorted CDs, DVDs, and even one odd manga volume that was sent as aprt of some promotional materials to the store. (She'd been curious, and tried reading it, but she didn't quite 'get' it.)

She takes off her boots to leave them by the door. "If you'd like to put your things down, it's the first doorway on the left. And besides that..." She steps further into the apartment. "We can..." She tries to put on a reassuring smile but it's a bit troubled. "... chat, or... listen to music, or... anything you'd like."

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

There was a flurry of activity for the Cardboard Dragon crew -- between securing a place for Myunghon and Shinobu finding a doctor that could treat any wounds they've aggravated from leaving the hospital and flinging themself off the third floor (in dramatic vampire style) and overexerting themself through Mementos... at some point, Myunghon did accept the invitation to stay over at Remi's apartment, which is in the same complex as Miho and Yua's penthouse, which they've definitely stayed at before.

It might have taken some of Miho's servants to help shuttle them there, given their condition. It might also feel a bit awkward, given how directly the NWO team became involved in the approach to dissuade Myunghon from making a mistake they could never take back... albeit couched in the motives that would befit the masked figures that empower the conspiracy.

"Mm--" Myunghon gently braces their hands against the doorframe, still looking unsteady and not entirely lucid. There've been moments where Myunghon just seems to drift, gazing at some point that isn't entirely here, or not paying attention or looking confused when Remi talks to them -- but it's expected, perhaps, with the head injury Ishiba caused them.

Someone else has packed a small bag for them from what they could find -- just a few clothes to change into. Myunghon did seem somewhat possessive of the new coat that they'd mysteriously obtained, though, which still drapes over them. It's an impressive new garment, imperishably black with a hint of scarlet in the inlay, which seems to cling onto their form protectively even without the supernatural in play.

They slip their shoes off and gravitate towards the couch, since it seems like being upright's been too much of an ordeal. "Thank you, Remi." It feels good to be able to say that. Not Ariel. Not Tsurugi. "I know it... has not been an easy series of days."

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

Yes. Getting involved to dissuade Myunghon in Mementos had been... a rather fine line to walk, hadn't it? To talk in code, so as to not tip off their real identities, to present a plausible motivation... and to try and convey their concern, nonetheless.

Remi has done her best to be attentive to those moments Myunghon's attention drifts, to be patient and understanding. IT's a difficult thing, a skillset that is woefully underdeveloped from her years in captivity, but... she is trying.

She offers a hand to help steady Myunghon and guide them to the couch, if wanted. "Of course, Myunghon." It is a relief to say that instead of couching addressing 'Rumormonger' or 'Merry'. "Let me take that from you," she offers to handle the bag. And then... she sits down next to Myunghon. "Yes, it certainly has... Not that I place any of the blame at your feet."

She sighs a little. "I realize this may be..." She shakes her head to herself. "Can I get you something to eat or drink? Or is there anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable?"

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

Myunghon does need a little bit of help, if only because they're at risk of tripping over hazards like coffee tables at present. There's a soft, soft breath, and an exhale as they finally shift their weight off their feet, which already feel like they're incapable of doing much propping up at present. Remi did notice how much their coat compensated, keeping them upright with its ribbons like they're extra appendages long after they should've tipped over.

They offer their fondest smile to Remi, gently handing the bag over. "Sorry. My gratitude." Remi expresses some awkwardness, but Myunghon appears to be comfortable enough -- as comfortable as they can be, in a state like this, at least. Food does remind Myunghon that they haven't confessed to Remi about their issue, though. They wonder if Yua's explained it to her. Yua's a busy person, though, so they can't rely on that.

"Water would be all right for now," Myunghon decides to defer that issue to a few hours later, though they know people will point out that they're injured and need extra nutrients. "No, I..."

Their attention randomly falls on the manga, and they gently hold the book up. "I didn't think you read manga..."

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

Remi is nothing if not observant (to be a great actress is to be a student of the human condition, after all), and she notes how much that coat is doing for Myunghon... and she would not dream of taking it from them. But the will file that tidbit away for later.

Myunghon thanks her for taking the bag, and Remi just smiles. "Cest tout naturel. Think nothing of it, dear." She dips into the guest bedroom to set the bag down, and then comes back.

Water. "Certainly." Has Yua told her? Things have been rather hectic these past few days... but Remi suspects something is up, with how Myunghon reacted to the food at the Benny's.

She comes back moments later with a glass of water and an ice pack. She sets the glass down with a coaster for Myunghon. "Oh, that. It was a... I believe they say, 'tie-in' from that Vampire Bakers expansion. I was curious if the story might engage my interest."

She takes off her cardigan and then sits, rolling up her left sleeve. She's got it wrapped up--though just to keep pressure on it, it doesn't appear to be bandages, and she quickly unwraps it.

There is a brief moment where a large purple-black splotch can be seen on her forearm. But it's quickly covered up with the ice back. Remi lets out an involuntary shiver, but dutifully rewraps it hold it in place.

And then she just lifts it to set it on the back of the couch. She's still shivering intermittently. "Sadly, while it seems inventive and full of more bread-based puns than I thought possible... I fear I could not quite follow the story."

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

At the same time, however, the coat is a small -- but possibly large? -- mystery to Remi. She brought them to the emergency room, because there was no other option. The only coat Myunghon had was their old, burnt one, that was damaged during altercations in Kaneshiro's Palace, they explained to Remi. Myunghon didn't leave the hospital at all until the group heard about the alarming note...

But then it occurs to her that they've been talking about having a new coat tailored by people from the Peacock Silk too. The question is -- how did it get there, when the Peacock Silk is far away in Shimokitazawa? Did someone deliver it there, in the space between they left and Myunghon was convalescing...

And with how odd some of the words Myunghon were saying in Mementos, is there a third hand at play, beyond the NWO?

But that is that -- work. This is now -- recuperation. It's not just Benny's -- Remi's been around them long enough that it always seems arduous for Myunghon to actually eat... anything. Even the Koalas they love so much, they don't actually eat much of -- they just love the tactile feel of the shape and stacking them. It's not there for the glucose.

Recently, Remi's noticed unflavoured pea protein boxes around. Were they trying something new?

They observe for a moment too long as Remi treats her wound would with an ice pack. There's a shiver and a wince. "Was that from..." A pause. "It was woolly, but I did hear... he struck other people too, did he not?" They curl a little further up into that coat of theirs, knees drawing up to their face in that position they often like. It feels a little defeated right now, though, rather than comfortable.

"Ah, hmm.... many manga tie-ins do sometimes assume you are familiar with the original work. Is it like that, perhaps?"

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

Perhaps, now, with Myunghon... well, out of the most grave danger and being looked after... there might be time to spare some a thought for the mystery of the coat. Peacock Sik... that might merit investigation.

Those words, too, she hadn't had time to ponder them before, but...

Myunghon's eating hbits are something Remi needs to bring up with her friend, but... she's not quite sure how, yet.

"Yes," Remi answers simply. There's really no getting around it. "He tried to strike at So-young Park. I prevented it." That is a rather... understaed description of events. "No one else was grievously injured," she follows that with. There was a very near miss with Katsuya but... Remi might save that detail for later.

But her voice does turn softer. "That teenager that was there... Tsubasa-kun, I think you said? Aragaki-san stayed behind to ensure their safety once the Dark Hour passed. As did Officer Suou."

"I do believe you're right. I can sense the threads of a larger narrative, but it is one that I am lacking. That being said... I did still find it interesting, in its own way."

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

'You are the one with true power. Make him realise that.'

It's a very NWO-like way of thinking, is it not?

"My sister..." Myunghon mumbles. Oh yeah, that whole saga about Myunghon finding out they have a sister, all of a sudden!! It's rather alarming, isn't it? And then it turns out they were a Persona-User too -- or rather, had a very alarming trial by fire where they got sucked into Kaneshiro's Palace and awakened to one. Myunghon sounded so flabbergasted when they explained what happened on their side of the trip to Remi, knowing she was in a precarious position. "Thank you. ... no doubt he would detest her too."

"I... heard the gun fire," Myunghon does inevitably bring that up. "But I checked with everyone, and it looks like no one was-- shot." It sounds so much weightier and heavier.

There is a nod, however, as Remi explains Tsubasa and Shinjiro's ordeal. They shiver again, biting their lip. "I could have been more cautious... but... knowing it was all set up..." They tremble at the thought, again. They're lapsing between constantly reminding themself of trauma and trying to pull out of it.

"I was not... certain what kinds of media you enjoyed. I know of course of the French literature you requested from our suppliers, but outside of that... music, or television, or other books..." They manage to offramp off the freshest scare, at least. It's nice to talk about media.

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

It is, at that... Hmm.

There's really no doubting how Ishiba would feel about So-young, n. "Quite. It was... an instinctive action..." To have a sister pop up from nowhere... Remi ws an only child, she doesn't know how to feel about that.

And she'd been awkward about her part of things in Kaneshiro's palace. She hadn't turned up to the Strega fight with the others, and the last time they had talked, had been a bit tight-lipped about how the experience had been for her.

Remi simply nods. "He fired at Officer Suou," Remi explains. "But right as he did so, the Dark Hour struck. Suou-san's Persona protected him."

She shakes her head. "You could not have known, dear... we all did the best we could. And my injury should heal within a few weeks, as long as I care for it, so do not concern yourself with it."

But... media! "Mmm... French literature, of course. I do rather like the other, older literature you stock, as well." She smiles a little. "I am, of course, rather partial to swashbuckling and adventure tales. Cinema and ballet, a little bit of opera... For music I am partial to classical and traditional French and Japanese music, of all kinds..."

She considers for a moment. "I have been... trying to branch out, recently. There are a few romance novels on my shelf, now. I brought that tie-in manga home... and... I asked Shimizu-san to show me how the 'Baestation' in the store works, but... I am afraid I am rather hopeless at it."

But she is eager to discuss lighter topics, for a moment. "What about you, dear? What has had your interest, of late?"

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

Myunghon fully believed they were an only child for twenty-three years as well. It's quite the surprise! And to find out she's an *older* sister too colours it further. What kind of wily things does mom get up to? Were they the one she wanted, or was it So-young?

Remi's explanation shocks Myunghon, though. "S-so a moment later and Suou-san would be..." They look particularly mortified about that. There's shiver and further dread. "I must thank... him later." Why do they look reticient about it? It shouldn't be difficult to thank someone who nearly was shot and did his best to save you, right?

Remi tells them to not worry about the injury, and as hard as it is to focus on many things right now, Myunghon does quietly nod, if only because their stressing would probably add undue stress to Remi in turn. "Oh yes... I remember you mentioning that you enjoyed Alexandre Dumas works, such as the Three Musketeers. And cinema..." They ponder that for a moment. "Do you seek out French cinemas? I think there were some in Tokyo. I am unsure about Sumaru itself, however..."

Shimizu -- ah, Shinobu! -- showed her the Baestation. Myunghon looks equally helpless as they admit: "I also spent some time with Shinobu-ssi on the Baestation. She showed me her favourite game, but I was also hopeless at it. The controllers, also..."

They make a little grabbing gesture, and Remi does notice that their fingers are stiff. They've always been a bit stiff like that. "It hurts to hold in the way you're meant to, for a long time. Laptop surfaces and keyboards are no issue, so I did not notice, but... how interesting."

What has had their interest? Myunghon looks a bit flustered for some reason, as they admit, perhaps because a certain someone was just mentioned: "I was... I was asking some people on advice on how to-- order concert tickets, and how to best prepare for a..." A frown. It's not heavy wood, remember. "Heavy metal concert." Now that sounds incredibly unlike Myunghon, who probably would die if they were locked in a super-loud space with throngs of people. So who likes heavy metal... hmm, Shinobu does wear a lot of band shirts...

But then they look crestfallen. "But... the concert was yesterday. Oh, I ruined it all, did I not...?"

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

"Yes," Remi says a touch softer. "But it was not a moment later. And if you wish to see him, I would be more than happy to accompany you. You needn't do it alone." She's trying to reassure Myunghon.

Remi actually manages a smal, fond smile at that. "Ah, yes, the Three Musketeers were an early favorite of mine... They inspired my love of fencing, and later my love for theater..." There is a glance towards the kitchen where her three potted plants sit. She hasn't told anyone, but she's anemd them Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.

"I have been to a few," Remi says with a nod. "Not as often, recently... but perhaps I shall be able to make time, soon." Or not. There's always something happening, after all.

"Do they? That is rather unfortunate," Remi says of the controllers hurting. "It seemed rather... a lot to manage, to me. It did not feel... entirely clear how what I did affected what was happening on the screen. Then again, I suppose it was my first time, perhaps it gets easier with experience? Or at least, with exposure..." she muses.

Remi raises her eyebrows in surprise. "A heavy metal concert?" She might not understand her friend as well as she'd like, but even she can know that much. And Myunghon said tickets, plural. And she does recall those t-shirts. Which means...

Softly, she says, "Dear, considering the circumstances, I am rather certain your guest will be quite understanding... But I am curious..." She lowers her voice, and leans in. "Who is the lucky person that has captivated your interest?"

She's got a pretty good hunch, but... it's best to confirm, and not make assumptions.

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

"Perhaps... he really has been very... kind to me," Myunghon does softly sigh as they try to work out what it is that rattles them. "A week ago, I was taken into the Konan Police Department again by Ishiba, abusively... Officer Suou was there to prevent him from doing harm, but he still had to act the role of a police officer." A pause. "These are strange thoughts... I will put them aside for now."

Myunghon would find it very endearing if they did know the potted plants had names. "Tall tales of derring-do and high adventure... I think I missed having something like that in childhood," they admit. "But it is not as if I went completely bereft of media I enjoyed."

Does it get easier with experience and exposure? "It must, right? Not unlike... learning to act, or sing, or ride a bicycle. It is a skill one can master. No doubt the excitement is in the continual journey to mastery, honing oneself against others." There's a timid chuckle as they say, "I asked Shinobu-ssi to take me to an arcade once when I was feeling very upset, and we managed to visit during a very busy time. It was quite overwhelming."

But Remi reassures them that they'll be understanding, but... oh dear. Remi's locked on. Something dangerous is in the air. Who is the lucky person?

Remi gets a rare view of how... cute... a bashful Myunghon can be. "Ah-- um..." They clear their throat, cupping their hand to their mouth. "Shimizu-san..." Wait, why'd they suddenly get very formal about it???

But their expression is melancholic, even with that timid smile of theirs, as they reflect. "It is... foolish of me. I do not understand. I thought I had abandoned such impulses. Perhaps I still should. A living corpse such as myself, who has very poor health prospects... that would make no one happy, certainly."

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

Remi bristles at hearing of more of Ishiba's treatment, but she nods. "We can discuss it another time, if you're feeling more up to it."

"They were not the only things I read, to be sure, but..." She sighs a little. "It was a life I yerned for, once upon a time... As I got older, I realized much of my life would be laid out for me." Meaning, going to college and taking up the family business. "But let us not speak of dreary things."

"Honing your skills against others..." Remi muses softly. "You know, it is not rather unlike sport fencing, in that way. There is a certain thrill to testing your skills against another opponent... I do believe I could understand such a motivation."

"You poor dear," Remi says of the arcade visit. "Hopefully you were able to visit at a more suitable time?"

It's a soft smile Remi has as she sees that bashful expression. "I see... she seems like the practical sort. I'm sure she would be happy to attend some other event with you..."

"And yet the impulses seem to persist, do they not? I must admit... understanding something of seeking to leave something behind, only to find I still carry it with me." She doesn't elaborate on that thought just yet, though. A living corpse. Ririka frowns softly. "Myunghon, dear... I daresay... all of us have learned recently that life, in so many ways is unpredictable. And I believe you deserve happiness as much as anyone else."

"And besides, if you give up the game before you even attempt to play... you will surely lose. If you play, you may just win."

She falls silent for a moment, her non-bandaged hand drumming fingertips on the arm of her couch. She looks pensive all of a sudden, like perhaps she suddenly wishes she had a few glasses of wine in her. "... when it comes to matters of the heart," she contin8ues, her voice much more subdued. "There is something I would like to share of myself."

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

Myunghon has a quiet set of nods to that. Best to not evoke his name again. ... didn't Tsumugi say to say his name, without fear? What happened to the confidence of that night? It was all truly like a dream. A midsummer night's dream.

"What little I understood of it from Shinobu-ssi, it was a bit akin to... perhaps something like rock paper scissors, but with different incentives," Myunghon explains. "Let us say you are paid ten thousand yen if you picked rock. But would that not make you very predictable? Would you not pick paper every time, knowing rock is lucrative? But what if you were doubly-clever, knowing paper is the popular counter-pick, and chose scissors? But would that not mean rock is the triply-clever answer instead?"

A pause. "Or... something of the sort. I am not sure I understood the metaphor."

Myunghon shakes their head, stammering, "I have not had the courage to ask again... but we were able to play it at home nonetheless."

Remi carries in her the wisdom that life is unpredictable -- and that they still deserve happiness as much as anyone else. "Mmm....." there is a soft, timid sigh, as she points out that if they give up before they even play -- they'll surely lose. Love, just like fighting games!

"But it worries me so. What if I change everything forever, or make the relationship worse? And I am employer, and that often does add a lot of stress and imbalance..." Oh, they've spent so much time overthinking this, haven't they?

But Remi also has a confession.

"Ah--?" Myunghon tilts their head. "I am listening."

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

If we Shadows have offended...

Remi listens to Myunghon's explanation. "I see... it sounds like there is an element of strategy, at the very least. I suppose there are only so many actions programmed into the game..."

She considers. "Perhaps it is situational which option becomes the most clever?" She doesn't really get it either, though, absent of context.

"Myunghon, mon amie... I should certainly hope something would change. After all, there would be no point to the endeavor if everything stayed the same, yes? These are challenges you can navigate afterwards. You do not yet know if Shimizu-san shares the same interest, oui?"

But Myunghon is listening... and Remi lets out a nother little shiver (she's been shivering throughout.) "One moment, daear." Ice pack goes back in the freezer, she rewraps her arm, and she puts her cardigan back on.

Then she looks to Myunghon. "It has weighed heavily on me as of late that... I do not feel like I know you as well as I should. That... I have held myself apart from the three of you, and that I have not been forthcoming about myself or own struggles. I... I wish to remedy this."

She takes a deep breath then, and releases it slowly. "I have found myself... romantically interested in both men and women."

Myunghon may well remember the stir Remi caused in their senior year, when she pushed for the Drama Club to put on Romeo and Juliet, and then auditioned for the part of Romeo. A 2nd year named Honoka Wasa landed the part of Juliet, and their chemistry on stage was so strong that the rumor mill was busy.

Remi and Honoka flat out denied they were anything other than fellow actors, but... it might not be too hard to draw some inferences from that experience.

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

"I think that is the case. And humans are prone to habits, so even if the game is a certain way, you are reading your opponent's habits too. Not unlike fencing," Myunghon points out... since, at the very least, that part makes a lot of sense to them. In anything competitive, the ruleset defines how your opponent behaves. Law, business, Personae...

    Even love.

But Remi says that surely, these are challenges that can be navigated. ... and also that they don't even know if Shinobu shares that interest. "... it is... true. Should I have started with that? This may very well only extend as far as 'Sorry, but I prefer...'" A pause. Wait. How does that work -- how do they get parsed there? A feeling of dysphoria suddenly washes over them again. Are they just stuck in some sort of neither-gutter to the binary-lovers? Is that how it works??

    Speaking of BI, though!!

"Ah--" Myunghon looks a bit embarrassed as Remi confesses that she doesn't know them as well as she should. That she's held herself apart, from the three of them... and that she hasn't been as forthcoming about her struggles. There's a genteel little nod at this.

And... they're romantically interested in both men and women!

Myunghon pauses for a meteorically long second at this, because they are indeed reflecting back on the past, but then they have a slightly more fond smile as they say, "I-- well, I mean, I do not even know how to define my own interests. But I just confessed my interest in someone no 'normal' person would consider 'ordinary' just now, so I imagine it is no surprise from you to know there is no contempt of any kind from me."

A further hesitation. "... if I were to be honest, Remi? It felt so natural I forgot you had not told me. I mean-- that play!"

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

"Yes, if one is to relate it to fencing, I suppose I could understand it, in those terms. I am not... disinterested in giving it another try, sometime, but..." She sighs. "... so far it does not feel as if I have any eptitude for it."

Maybe she should wait 7 years for someone to release Tempo Cutlasses.

"Don't pretend to know Shimizu-san's mind before you have given her a chance to speak it," cautions Remi. "If she isn't interested, then... she will tell you. But, she agreed to go to the arcade and the concert with you, did she not?"

She can't address any fears of gutters, though. But she is doing her best to be supportive.

She does look relieved, as Myunghon confirms that there is no contempt from them. "Thank you, dear... and of course, we have known Yua-chan and Miho long enough, have we not...? Though... I have not had a chance to tell Yua directly, yet."

There is a faint blush on her cheeks. She looks away a little, embarrassed. "Yes, well..." She sighs, and it's wistful. "She was rather brilliant, wasn't she...? I suppose it was all too easy to infer..."

She's not saying she Honoka were an item, but... she's not not saying it, either.

<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.

"Perhaps we can both learn together. If you feel you have been withdrawing from the three of us, then the only thing we can do is start to engage in more activities together," Myunghon suggests gently.

Remi cautions to not assume too hard, before they even speak to her. It's quite true; they'll work themself up into quite the fluster and then give up again, just as Remi said earlier. "Yes... well, it is as you say. One will always lose the game they do not play."

But Remi's relief means the world to them. "I am certain Yua would be ecstatic." But that means she told Miho, then?

There's a soft little chuckle, and then they wonder, "Could you still get in touch with her again?"

A bit after this, however, their head starts to swim. "... mm. Sorry, Remi, but could you help me to the bed? I feel quite faint all of a sudden. Perhaps I should rest for a moment."

<Pose Tracker> Remi Ryuuja has posed.

Remi smiles warmly, as Myunghon suggests doing more activities together. "I would be delighted, Myunghon."

"Indeed, dear."

It does mean that, but that's a longer conversation perhaps saved for another time. "Of that I have no doubt."

Remi freezes up, and looks stunned. "I... I do not know, it has been so long... surely she is living her own life, now?"

"Yes, of course, dear." Remi stands, offering her good arm and shoulder for support. "Call if you need me, dear. I shall check on you in a bit."

There are still many heavy talks to discuss but for the moment her heart feels less burdened, for what she was able to share with her friend.
