<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.
Myunghon went to Tatsumi Port Island very early on this morning, but they were receptive to the idea of meeting So-young and Mio in Shibuya. It's a Sunday, it's probably best to spend time and do things other than... work... and overwork... and overexert oneself going from one city to another in the name of investigation.
> My plans were cancelled. I saw a movie today...
> I was challenged to not cry. But I did
> The dog really was that adorable.
(Jack Frost Do-ho-ho... crying LINE sticker)
Shibuya is admittedly extremely busy as expected on a Sunday and one of the better places to meet up might just be at the station. Myunghon's Shinkansen arrives just on time coming from Iwatodai, and a filter of passengers flows on through, and on one of them is...
...
...
There's a white-haired person in bandages, but they're wearing a pale sweaterdress and a nice ruffled blouse and ribbon tie to go with their black leggings, and white Mary Janes. They have a fashionable white leather messenger bag that, despite the wear, still looks immaculate, with pale gold studding and buckles, and a long white coat is draped over their shoulders, once more not new but still pristine and fastidiously kept.
They do have a sling on their arm.
This is... Myunghon? Maybe??? Or someone that looks like them??
<Pose Tracker> So-young Park has posed.
It's So-young in casual mode! She's still impossible to miss in the crowd, largely thanks to the vivid mass of white hair with black accents, but also the sunglasses perched rakishly in her hair and the sheer aura of self-confidence she surrounds herself with. Since she's not intending to lounge gracefully in a fancy cafe, she's wearing a pair of white capris and a rare splash of colour from the sleeveless dark blue vest. With a couple of bangles on her arms and her bag under one elbow, it's still very chic.
She looks completely unruffled by the crowd, even taking one tourist couple's amazement in stride as she offers them a amused wink in return, and then turns to raise her eyebrows at the vision headed her way. "... look at you!" she grins brightly at the sight of Myunghon, immediately examining her from fifty different angles with absolutely no animation frames in-between.
"The sling ties it together more than you'd think, honestly," she decides without explanation.
<Pose Tracker> Mio Kazama has posed.
It isn't 'just' a trip to Shibuya, jeez, it's an event. Accordingly, events demand preparation and a certain mindset. Especially when you're going to be strolling around one of Tokyo's premiere fashion hubs, where having a sly photo of your fit snapped on the street could be the edge needed to thread the needle between becoming an indie darling, or staying an unheard-of has-been.
Now consider Mio's age and temperament. The daughter of a late idol, still longing somewhat for that so-fake world where smiles are constructed, airbrushed, and sold as promises to millions of desperate fans. Neon-lit and flimsy as it may have been, it's her childhood, the allure is real. Even if she were 'just' heading to Shibuya for a burger, that demands time in front of the mirror.
That is, basically, how Mio came to be waiting on a train platform with a boba tea in one hand dressed up more than usual. She has come along today wearing a loose outer layer of a fluttery, cream-coloured top with pink and white floral print over a black summer dress with spaghetti-straps and a cute little black bowler hat with a narrow brim, and pink lace-ups. She also has a really wide pair of glasses, entirely for fashion. Megane was *in* in 2012, believe it or not.
She's walking around So-Young while they're waiting for the train, peeking at the (slightly) older woman's taste for fashion. The yen signs are ticking up in her eyes, and she resigns herself to having to compete on Cute. "Haa~a... that's such a nice fit. Where did you get the bangles?" she points at the bag, lower lip stuck out for effect. "I thought about that bag too, but you don't wanna know what I'd have to do to afford one..."
Wooosh, nevermind, train's here! Mio's eyebrows soar as Myunghon finally comes to join them! It was not the entrance she expected. "W--woaaah, cute!" she's starting to stand up on her tip-toes, eyes full of flowers and stars. "No--cool! You look so cool!" it's all she can do to not pick up the coat and try to sneak a look at the underside.
Mio rushes past So-Young and mimes holding a notepad and pen. "Yeo-san, I'm from KazamaPro! We'd like to sign you as our new Cool centre!"
<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.
Myunghon appears to take it all in stride as So-young extroverts all over them, and then compliments them on the sling of all things with a faint, gentle chuckle. "Do you think so? I'm glad you both like it. The capris are nice," They're not NEW clothes by any means, which means they originate somewhere in Myunghon's past, and they don't look like they just stole someone's clothes that don't fit them... the fit is extremely tailored, in fact.
FIVE MINUTES AGO
Myunghon Yeo hyperventilates on the train as it pulls up to Shibuya Station (please don't pay attention to how the Shinkansen doesn't stop at Shibuya, this author forgot). Okay, So-young and Mio are going to just explode all over and probably have extreme reactions and you're going to reinforce your mask for one incredibly hard hit and tank through it and go. Today's a perfect day, you've made Shinjiro sad enough.
NOW
"Hmmm..." They motion a fingergun and a wink, before doing a little twirl. "Dokkan~ Straight to your shrivelled heart, it's No More Human."
... the messaging could use work, perhaps.
"I hope you both were not waiting too long. We should head to street level. So-young, would you mind taking the lead? This is your city, after all." Myunghon wisely doesn't reveal that they're intimately familiar with Shibuya themself, but a lot's happened in five years. "Your glasses fit your hair very well," they compliment Mio.
You Maskin': PERFECT
<Pose Tracker> So-young Park has posed.
So-young will absolutely not stand for Mio being upset with herself, having already gushed over the nun's new look. She does not discriminate, and is perfectly happy to be the Cool one - or the Passion one, once she sees how Myunghon is dressed. "Oh, the handbag will definitely never, ever leave me," she promises. "I'm probably overstuffing it, but I love this thing like you wouldn't believe. I'm probably going to stretch out the strap at some point," she admits with a snigger, before rattling her wrist. "Oh, these aren't as upmarket as you'd think, actually! I'll show you the place as we go."
"Oh, you'd be amazed at what can pass for fashion now," So-young snorts good-naturedly. "I think we'd have to get some floral accents for it if we wanted to fit the rest of your outfit though."
She immediately plays along with Mio, bringing both hands up to her face to make two Ls to form a frame as she mimics the kacha-kacha-kacha of a camera. "Yeo-san, this way please!" she chimes, before breaking into a stunned laugh at the way that Myunghon fingerguns them. Despite her mirth, the messaging is the first hint that maybe she should be a little bit careful, her eyebrows going up in surprise.
"Well, we'll probably be alright. The real station might be more confusing than the Mementos one, but we'll get there somehow. Generally so long as you pick a direction and walk resolutely towards it and refuse to take no for an answer, you'll be alright," she jokes as she starts to easily lead them through the crowds. "... fair warning, though, it's ridiculously busy out there. That's okay, right?" she raises her eyebrows as she pauses for a moment to double check.
<Pose Tracker> Mio Kazama has posed.
Mio clasps both hands over her heart and sways back as if shot, eyes closed. "Ah..." she faux-swoons. "It's too late for me... I've already fallen for their song..." and then she lands back on her feet, linking both hands behind her back and bobbing to and fro in front of Myunghon. "We didn't wait too long, don't worry! But I'm not kidding when I said you look super cool... oh, I hope that's okay? If that's the look you were going for?"
The hatted idol superfan keeps a half-step behind Myunghon and So-young, as if to make sure nobody tries anything on them. "It's not so bad." is her appraisal of the business level here in Shibuya. "We've got time before rush-hour, and even then, it's not so bad as long as we're off the main street!" she pokes her own cheek briefly, looking around as they zip through the crowds. "We could always cut through the lobby in a place or two to sneak past the crowds, too..."
<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.
Myunghon catches the eyebrows. They're just being smart about their favourite book as usual, but that was a gap that let something loose. They don't dwell on it, though, as they look towards So-young and says, "Straps are, fortunately, fairly easy to replace. This one has had several accidents in five years..." A pause, as they glance towards Mio immediately as they ask about what they're aiming for with the look. "I know a few leatherworkers that can match the colour."
"Hmmm. I suppose it would ruin the mystique if I admitted I wanted to be lower profile than my usual black coat...?" they chuckle all too easily. It's not untrue -- they do prefer to be less seen if they're going to be leaving Sumaru for a variety of reasons, but there's also longing and nostalgia... "So I will accept 'super cool', thank you, Kazama-kun. You're also looking very cute."
"Ah, are you quite familiar with Shibuya, Kazama-kun? Of course, I expect nuna to be too, but..." Myunghon pauses. "Where should we begin? Are you two hungry? I'll treat you two to something if that's the case. if not, which places do you like best, So-young?"
Walking through the station is filling them with a slight sense of unease, but not from the crowds -- as much as they dislike crowds, they've had to have a finely tuned sense of how to filter them out. No, it's like they can still see the ghosts...
<Pose Tracker> So-young Park has posed.
So-young is very good at making use of her height - she's intimidating and confident enough to be able to cut through the crowd with some degree of ease. She's not about to try to go against the endless current of people, but she can certainly navigate through it without needing to stop or collide with anyone. "Once we get out of the station we can just duck to one side, yes. It'll be easy enough that way," she agrees with Mio.
"Ah, so that does mean I'm Passion?" Of course So-young can breezily make that reference in character with how much she watches some of the local idols and occasionally does stints composing for them. She grins easily today, it seems, rather determined to brighten the area around her. "Hmm, maybe I should have made up a big heart on one cheek or something. --oh, I do have my last handbag lying around, but I'm not sure how cool hand-me-downs are. Not enough sibling experience growing up," she teases.
She's doing her best to keep things light. There are a mountain of questions in her mind, but thankfully So-young is pretty good at setting things aside at least for a day or two, especially when the opportunity for fun has presented itself. The musician does seem to be assuming that Myunghon's uncertainty is thanks to the situation with their mother rather than anything else that might be plaguing them.
"It's a little sad to admit, but I usually tend to go for cheap and cheerful late night places a lot of the time, especially when we're stuck in the throes of practice," So-young sniggers as they emerge into the square. "And I rather doubt you want to be going to a gyoza stand. On a day like this, though, it's fun to wander down a side street or lounge photogenically in the window of a very fancy cafe."
She is carefully not mentioning Maidreamin. Some things you do not admit to your new sibling. "There's a lovely rooftop cafe on the terrace of that building if you want to peer down at the ants below. But I'm happy to just walk for a while first," is her olive branch towards Myunghon, who she's yet to see have anything they like.
<Pose Tracker> Mio Kazama has posed.
As one of the foremost wearers of one's heart on their sleeve, Mio is obviously very pleased at being called cute, and having her glasses complemented! She has a big grin tugging at the edges of her face, and has since linked both hands behind her back again while walking. "Hehe, yeah, I'm a little familiar with it. I like to sneak out here when I have a day off and check out what's hot... when I was a little kid, I'd rip up magazines reading 'em over and over, swearing I was gonna be cool like the Shibuya scene--you know, all ... authentic! Not just copying what others do." she glances around them as they go. "Mom always thought it was kinda tryhard here, but I dunno..."
She's pausing to peer at So-Young again, as if she could get tall enough to get a better angle on this. "Aaah, hmm... I dunno, maybe you're both a Cool contender? Passion is usually brighter... I could see it working! We'll get Ryo-san to scout you for a festival or an advertisement or something..." Mio is, despite being well-meaning, abysmal at reading people and oblivious to Myunghon's discomfort in the area.
"Ooh, ooh, rooftop! Rooftop!" her vote is obvious. Mio walks ahead of the other two, pacing backwards. "But I was hoping Myunghon would show us something cool, like where to get a coat like that, or a secret hangout they used to have..."
<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.
To be quite honest, outside of cottoning on that it's an idol thing, Myunghon has absolutely no idea what the two are on about regarding Cute, Cool and Passion... well, it's easy enough to understand that they're personality types, but if there's something truly going on underneath the 765, it's completely lost on them. "Are you into any idols recently, then, Kazama-kun?"
There is an appeal in watching So-young in her element -- Myunghon definitely doesn't move as deftly, still injured as they are, though they don't appear to have much trouble either, keeping an eye on Mio, though it's not particularly difficult to with her splash of colours. "Hmm. A hand-me-down? I suppose I am not too proud for a pre-loved wonder. But I thought siblings are more supposed to jab and argue with each other."
They emerge to the square proper, and Myunghon has to take it in with a squint for a moment. They've been here more recently, of course -- on the mission for Kaneshiro, ontop of other visits, but they haven't really taken the time to just take it in again on a day off. They've stopped to look at a pair of street sceners in bondage and leather gear with a bright visual kei style, watching them carry their boba tea and talking while on their phones at the same time.
"The rooftop cafe... that opened last year?" Myunghon ventures a guess. "The Hikarie building was still under construction for quite a while, but I believe it opened in April... yes, I'd be happy to go there."
But Mio's counting on them to show something cool -- like where to get a coat like that? "This one? This one is..." A pause. "I'm afraid the tailor isn't with us any longer. Apathy Syndrome. But you know my other, new coat, that one is from Peacock Silk. I dare say you might find yourself a match in personality there, nuna."
A secret hangout, though...
"My friend does have a small cafe up in Udagawa-cho. If it's at this time on Sunday, they might be there. But the views won't match the rooftop cafe, of course."
<Pose Tracker> So-young Park has posed.
"I do like to think I'm Cool myself, _and_ I can play my own instruments. Very economical idol," So-young makes a show of posing as she hums happily; an effortless bob of her head knocks her sunglasses onto her face as if she didn't spend hours upon hours in front of the mirror perfecting the trick, and her hand goes under her chin as she delivers an actress' megawatt smile. "Hmm, does that mean you're the person who'd know what Shibuya was like a few years ago? I am always curious about how much an area like this has changed with the times. But from the ground looking up, you know? Not the other way around."
"I think I've done enough jabbing and arguing to last a lifetime, and that's just with people I have to work with. I'm not the sort who will stubbornly stick to my guns when I'm wrong," she-- well, she lies through her teeth, but is it a lie when you're just not self-aware enough in the moment? "And I would like to think I'm trying at least a little. I mean, I even apologised for stealing a cracker when we first met. I'm still not entirely sure what was going through my mind," she frowns as she folds her arms.
"--ooh, daring. See what I mean?" So-young breaks away from that thought to snicker as they watch the visual keis depart. "One of the things I like is that anything goes around here, it seems. And injured chic _is_ still chic. Would you believe I've seen one of those eyepatch bandages but with frills?"
She blinks at the name Myunghon supplies, frowning as her eyebrows go up. It's clearly not familiar to her, but that's probably not unexpected given the nature of the brand. "Peacock Silk," she repeats, consigning it to memory. "In Sumaru? I shall have to go say hello, and evaluate if they truly are a match. Though, are you sure? Then you'll have to deal with two of us."
<Pose Tracker> Mio Kazama has posed.
It's probably for the best that Myunghon hasn't mentioned out loud out that she doesn't know what So-Young and Mio are prattling on about, because Mio would gleefully explain all of this in the painful detail of one who is versed in things both from the super-duper fan-side, but also from the inside-baseball angle as well. Instead, the clever proprietor of the Cardboard Dragon parries her with a question: is she into any groups or idols at the moment?
"Oh! Yeah!!" Mio jumps up and down with a clicker-clack of shoe heels on pavement, eyes blazing with the passion of one who is READY to explain their SUBCULTURE to someone. She then pauses to consider, animating back at a normal pace as she processes her thoughts. "Well. My number one is always my mom's group, 3SHINE! I'll always have her music with me, and I know it's prolly cringe heisei EDM slop to people now, but I still like it!" she puffs up proudly at that, flashing a victorious V with her fingers.
"But recently--recently, hmm... there's this really cute rookie who just showed up the rankings named Risette! I saw her on TV, she's got a single you can get for like... I dunno, under 1000 yen... it's pretty good! I don't hear many people talking about her, but," Mio pumps her fists closer to her chest in a very M*ya F*y gesture. "I'm rooting for her!"
Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce... it's like all the energy of a cringe middle-schooler who's had too much sugar finally being let out of school. It comes to a stop when Myunghon mentions the tailor is no longer with them, "Oh... I'm sorry. That sucks." she feels a little silly, now.
To So-Young, she squints and puts her thinking cap on. By which I mean, tugs on the brim of her actual hat. "Hmm, for me... you know, it used t'be a lot more Street" how do you pronounce the capital letter on that, Mio, "but it's kinda faded in and out... I guess it kinda changes with the season, too, or who gets really famous and makes a scene."
Also: at the mention of the Peacock Silk, Mio snaps her fingers. "Oh, oh, oh. Whatcha think, So-Young-san? Should we go shopping together at this cool place? I heard the name--uh--somewhere--but forgot until now... ah, man! There's too much I wanna do..."
<Pose Tracker> Myunghon Yeo has posed.
"You... can be the Cool one." Myunghon pauses, as if this were a real thing that they're still debating over. "No, I suppose siblings would be arguing, 'no, I'm the Cool one!' before their mother would lecture them, but... we do not exactly exist under ordinary circumstances. But So-young's cottoned on from how loose they're being. Do they know how Shibuya was a few years ago, then?
They're still not breaking stride as they explain, their eye catching some of the stores and noticing differences here and there, "If you want to be truly keyed into the scene, you generally find out what places've become gentrified and mainstream, and where people move to instead."
A pause, as they wait for the crossing. "For instance, my friends used to dream of making it big at LaForet, Harajuku, but we were priced out and went to Daikanyama instead... and, speaking of, Peacock Silk is in Shimokitazawa, another one of the areas that bubbled up as Shibuya became too expensive."
There's something of a wide smirk for a moment as So-young becomes contrite enough to mention she apologised for a cracker. "I thought it was a show of dominance." The visual keis leave, and then So-young asks if they've seen eyepatch bandages with frills. "Angura, yes," they answer too easy, before pausing. Oh, that's an opening right there.
But Mio's here to talk their ear off about IDOLS! Of course, number one is mom's group, 3SHINE. ... which is a damper knowing what they know now. "Hmm... no, I'll have to find the albums. The Heisei era isn't anywhere close to being over, I imagine." That's probably not the point that's actually relevant, but it's 2012 and Reiwa ain't coming for another 7 years, shit's wild!
Also please, it's Mayoi Ayasato here! Who's this Maya Fey you talk of? Sounds fake.
"If you do go to the Peacock Silk, mention my name and it should go a fair ways." A pause. "Also, bring that junk I told you to hold onto from when we visited the Palace."
<Pose Tracker> So-young Park has posed.
"Oh!" blurts So-young, because she hadn't realized Mio's lineage - and immediately something flashes across her eyes when the idea of denigrating any music whatsoever is mentioned. "Do not even begin to give them any thought. If they don't like what you like, clearly they have no taste," she declares with a sweep of one hand, brooking absolutely no disagreement. "Risette is certainly quite the phenomenon, though. I wonder if I'd get the chance to work with her at some point?"
"I know it's me saying this, and I am the last person to guard against rushing around, but we do have all the time in the world. If we don't reach something this trip, then there's always the next," she adds simply with an expansive, world-encompassing shrug of her shoulders that absolutely does not match her image and has probably been done for the theatrics of it - but it's still a very fair point.
She freezes as Myunghon supplies the name as if it were second nature, and her eyes narrow into a line. "It _was_ intended to be a show of dominance, because it's not like I knew what I was getting into at the time. And I knew it - you _have_ considered it," she accuses as if this were the most sneaky thing in the world.
"What, those gaudy casino chips and the pachinko balls? Really?" So-young looks skeptical at the idea of bringing them along as a trophy for anyone, but then she doesn't know about the Peacock Silk. Shiny bright things are probably going to be even better received than silky smooth things, given the person looking for them.
