  • Summary: Miho and Yua have dinner with Ritsuko, Miho's sister. It turns out that when she likes you, a nationalist can be downright pleasant!

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

Tonight, Yua... invited Ritsuko over for dinner!! (Under consultation with Miho, of course.) She's cooked up some delicious buta no shogayaki tonight, and the ginger pork sizzled on a bright and colourful plate of spring onions, lettuce, tomatos and sliced cucumber. Miho of course got an Olympic-sized serving, as is proper, but there were enough to furnish seconds should anyone like some.

(Yua knows Miho will decline, of course; and she also doesn't tend to partake, because of course she must watch her waistline even when she isn't trying to become pregnant, but it's only polite to have a little extra available when guests are over.)

Now they're gathered in the lounge, with wine for those who drink and pomegranate juice for those who definitely cannot, alongside these lovely little macarons which Yua baked herself all laid out on a plate.

"... but I really wasn't expecting the injections to be so rough," Yua's saying, where she's sitting beside Miho, for solidarity. "Sachie-san says it's because it's going into the muscle... I didn't know there was that much of a difference!" Sachie Chiba, is of course, Yua's on-call nurse, whomst Yua speaks of on a first-name basis because Yua is, well...

You know. Not used to servants.

"It's going to be strange going to a foreign doctor for that, too," Yua sighs, and whether she's forgotten the word for 'progesterone' is an open question, "but of course it can't be helped. They say I'll need it until we can at least confirm the pregnancy... but I should keep taking the estrogen for a few weeks after that."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Ritsuko Ijuuin--her husband took her name, naturally--is a woman of about 29 years, a wife and mother who exemplifies the traditions of the clan, even when certain sisters of hers haven't. She is a fair cook as well, though she mostly manages the house rather than actually doing the cooking, and certainly supervises rather than doing the cleaning. More to the point though:

Miho's the only one drinking wine tonight; Ritsuko is still (although non-exclusively) breastfeeding her youngest, which means no alcohol for her. But the macarons, and perhaps seconds? She can go for both.

She might not go for seconds, but she has the option. It takes a lot of energy!

Miho and Ritsuko have not always gotten along, but since she showed the willingness to commit to a serious relationship, even if with a girl--and since Yua has shown a desire to bear a child for them--she's warmed to Miho. She was already warmed to Yua, because it's hardly Yua's fault that Miho gets away with anything she wants.

...But it's been a lovely evening thus far, all the same; to Miho's surprise, Ritsuko is warm to both of them.

Ritsuko is in a lovely casual dress and eating delicately, though she comes to a pause as Yua speaks up about the injections. "Yes," she says, "That must be so. Of course, your nurse would know."

Ritsuko can forgive the little familiarities.

"I'm sure," Ritsuko answers Yua. "But we're in a modern world; it's only natural that more doctors would choose to come here."

But to need it... She nods. "Yes," she says. "That's wise. Of course, once you're going, your body will know what to do, and produce enough on its own, probably. Even if you're coming to it a little differently, you're doing the most natural thing in the world." She smiles. "You already have a certain glow to you..."

Miho smiles at that. "Doesn't she?" the younger Ijuuin opines. "I won't say too much until we're sure, but if nothing else, you seem happy despite the difficulties."

Ritsuko never needed fertility treatments, for her part--but she knows how it goes, because she's had friends to have. And of course, could afford to get them...

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

Yua is not in her normal Comfy Home Clothes; she's wearing a nice breezy sundress which looks quite casual but which Miho at least would be aware is definitely dressing up in the penthouse.

"I guess so," Yua says, glancing down, and of course it's to pick up another macaron, "though it will still be a little nervewracking in London... I'm not scared I'll be caught somewhere I don't understand, but their healthcare system is so different!"

Yua, of course, is still worrying about her travel insurance not covering her healthcare and racking up insane medical bills in a foreign country. Yua hasn't cognitively absorbed how the Ijuuins can just magically make those bills not ruin their lives.

Nibble, nibble. Yua smiles, when Ritsuko insists her body will know. "I hope so! It was pretty hard for my mom... but Dr. Matsuhashi told me I'm young and fit, and she'll be watching me closely, too."

Yua's cheeks have gotten a bit more colour since her glowiness came into question, though. She smiles, quite pleased. "I'm praying it works the first time," she shares with her future sister-in-law, warmly, "because that will mean he'll have been here for the Olympics, too..."

(Of course she's praying for a boy.)

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

But nerverwracking in London... Ritsuko realizes what she didn't catch; it's not that Yua has a foreigner doctor working under her current, but that she has to see doctors in London! "It is," she says, "But Miho-chan will see you safe. She can make time for that around matches, right?"

Safe from the system, that is. Miho inclines her head. "Of course. I've done research on your behalf," she says to Yua. "It's only fair." After Yua did so much for them...

But, of course. It's fine. It's super fine!

"Ahhh," Ritsuko says, and realizes that could've been insensitive. Accustomed to covering over little gaffes, though, she instead says, "Sometimes the body needs a little help in execution, even when she knows what to do," she offers. "If anything happens, I'm certain you and your doctor can handle it."

Color!!

"That's a lovely thought," Ritsuko says with a smile. "I hope so too."

"Perhaps too young to cheer, but his presence in spirit would encourage me," Miho agrees.

And then Ritsuko--who of course recognizes that 'he'--then sighs. "Ah, you make me want another. I shouldn't until the little one is at least two, though..."

She smiles. "Regardless of my little selfishness there, you'll be making this journey with family. ...Our brother and I have already decided. We think of you as one of us."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Oh! You did? That's a relief!" Yua smiles, pressing a hand to the couch to lift herself up briefly and smooch Miho on the cheek. "Mwah!"

It's the kind of thing she absolutely couldn't have done in public, but maybe it's nice to know that Miho and Yua otherwise tick all the boxes of young fiancees. ... even if Yua is a little more forward than most of their very proper associates might be.

"Mmhm, mmhm!" Yua nods, cheerfully, when Ritsuko allows that sometimes the body needs a little help. "But it's okay! Mimi's gotten everything we need right here, so I won't have to guess what's wrong one little bit!" She pauses, and adds: "Plus, I need to make sure not to worry about what's wrong, either... so I made up a schedule of when to take my blood pressure and stuff, so I won't worry I've missed something!"

        Yua...

Yua, did you write up a pregnancy schedule...

(It has cute little stickers on it!)

"Yeah! And we could tell little Hiroki when he got bigger, too!" Yua bubbles, excitedly, smiling to Miho again, before she remembers to add for Ritsuko's benefit: "... that's what I'd like to call a boy! Since I'll need to be adopted, but my parents have always been very good to me... so it's a different way to pronounce 'Ooshiro!'"

It's fine, it's still a good, proper Japanese name.

Yua's smile grows even brighter, though, as Ritsuko declares her family. "Really?! I'm so happy!" Yua claps her hands together, and they bend to the side with the merry tilt of her head. "Thank you for welcoming me!" Sparkle!!

She at least turns the brightness down a little -- though she's still quite warm -- as she takes Miho's hand. "I've always wanted to stand with Mimi," she says, smiling. "It means a whole lot to me that you'll accept her feelings, and mine, too...! I'll do my best to make you proud, okay?"

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Mwah! Ritsuko smiles. She's a little more forward, yes, but... Yua's like that, and they are in relative private. it's fine.

"Good, good," Ritsuko answers. "That's true. You must watch your stress! But with Miho here to help you, and your own personal nurse, you should have a good time of that, even given your situation."

A schedule is reasonable to have. ...The stickers might be a little too cute though.

"Hiroki!" Ritsuko refelcts, and looks to Miho for confirmation. Because of course they'd both have to be there. "Hmmm. A clever plan. It's still a proper name, but it ties into your own family..." She's thoughtful on it, but not disapproving.

But really. Miho puts a hand on Yua's shoulder. "Thank you, nee-san," Miho says. "I'm glad that you feel that way."

"Of course," she says. "Having my nephew is certainly a good way to join us." Miho squeezes Yua's hand. "I remember," she says. "At first I was dubious, I admit. But seeing your commitment to one another and to becoming a family..."

"I am glad to see it."

Miho nods. "Yes. It is no passing infatuation; I love Yua dearly."

"And it is so lovely that you can be with the one you love," she says. "I love my husband, but we had to consider the business implications of our match, too."

She finds herself... less jealous of that, than she used to be. "But of course, he's given me my wonderful children, now... And I want that same happiness for both of you."

"You went through a donor, yes? So the theoretical father won't be involved, but just Miho herself?"

"That's correct," Miho confirms. "We went through many possibilities... but we wanted the least possible interference, among other things."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Mimi's been super helpful!" Yua agrees, brightly. "She's even taken time off work just to support me many times... I know it must make the time she's in the office more stressful, so I'm grateful."

Because of course Miho has deadlines. And then the work she gets assigned on top of her normal work specifically because she dared to take time off for personal matters.

(It helps that Miho wouldn't live and die for her company, though.)

Yua isn't surprised to see Ritsuko looking to Miho, too, but of course Miho was the first person she came to with her idea. (Well, technically the second, for her idea for a girl's name, but that's because she came up with the idea with Myunghon.)

"Mm," Yua hums, her smile shining again when she feels Miho's hand at her shoulder, leaning into her just a touch. "I want to give Mimi a family. Children she can teach her fantastic skills... and a home that will warmly welcome her when the day is done. And I'm grateful for her guidance, too." That's the kind of thing one might traditionally say to their husband, but, well, Miho's found some way to have her cake and eat it too evidently.

Yua nods along with Miho's explanation of their donor, smiling. "We chose a man from Okinawa," she says, "so that the child will still share our heritage... but he won't have anything to do with our baby. Father -- um, Mimi's father," Yua adds, her cheeks colouring briefly -- "he's still working out the details, since the law doesn't recognise people like us, but... it shouldn't be a case where Mimi's not acknowledged as a parent, either."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"Oh?" Ritsuko asks. "Very serious indeed. I'm not surprised; my sister has always devoted herself to what's important to her." If that sounds a little backhanded it might just be habit, but Ritsuko at least looks and sounds sincere. The smile helps.

Miho would make her company live or die for her, meanwhile.

"Well," Ritsuko says, "I said that when Miho settled down I'd take less issue, and even if you two did it in a way that surprised me, that's still what's happening. ...It's a little strange to think of my sister as the husband," she admits. "...But not bad."

Miho laughs politely. "I appreciate you more, nee-san, for what I see in Yua, too. The hard work you do is even clearer to the eye when I see Yua at her own work."

But... an Okinawan man. Hmmm. "I see. That makes sense." A pause. "...Yes, I'm sure he has an idea as to how to do it. But I think that such an action will itself set precedents--that our family doing such a thing may be something that sets the tone for other families, in the future."

"I would hate to see Miho-chan given no treatment over her own daughter," Ritsuko says. "...She will be both of yours, after all."

Miho says, "I intend to fight as necessary for it... but Father has assured me that he will find a way that all works out."

"That's good," Ritsuko says. "...While personally I see no particular issue with your relationship style, many people would. I'm not sure how ready our country is for such a change in tradition... But seeing you embrace other traditions may go a long way."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"I'm glad Mimi's family is so important to her!" Yua exclaims, sunnily making it so that any questions as to Miho's devotion to her work are dwarfed by her drive to do well by Yua and the child she's hopefully due to nurse. "I'm pretty sensitive after everything that happened, so it's important I'm with someone who can keep me safe..."

And while the details of Yua's disappearance might not have reached Ritsuko's ears, she at least knows that she disappeared into the worst hives of human trafficking for years before Miho helped to rescue her. It must surely be noble, then, to safeguard a woman made delicate by horrors, showcasing both her compassion and her loyalty.

"Mimi isn't a man," Yua is sure to clarify, when she's called her husband, "but if there's a role to play... I decided I would be the one to submit to her, since she's always been protecting me. I can offer her that, when she's always been true to me... and we figured I'm probably more nurturing between us, anyway," she adds, giggling. "I'm the one who had the dream of always making her lunch when she went off on her day!"

She adds, quite gravely: "It's a lot of work, but it's worth it." Yua can spend up to an hour on those bento boxes. They are, of course, all works of art. When they're old enough to go off to school, her children clearly aren't going to get teased for their lunches on her watch!!

Still, precedents... "Maybe if we do it, things will change?" Yua wonders, hopefully.

She shakes her head, though, and insists: "The only way Mimi would get locked out was if we all started lying about where the baby came from, and no way we'd do that! Surrogacy has laws and stuff, she'll definitely be recognised as a mother!" Though one might wonder if Yua will be recognised as much, under those laws...

"We have faith in him," Yua adds, squeezing Miho's hand, when Miho shares that detail about Takashi finding a way through.

She smiles, leaning on Miho a little more. "Well... we figure we'd like a Shinto wedding," she shares, as if a salve against those traditions. "Since it's an important tradition for Mimi... though I'll need something other than sake!" She adds, with a touch of laughter. "I mean, I know it's not how Japan's done things for a while, but... it wasn't always like that, right? I just think... it's a little silly how everyone is so worried about people getting married and having children, but we really want to, and it's really hard."

Yua sighs, and her crestfallen expression speaks to how it's not just silly.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"Of course," Ritsuko says, her expression sympathetic then. "And Miho will keep you safe, I'm sure. You were serious even back in high school... And now, how much more so, with a more mature love?"

Miho is not a man. "True," Ritsuko allows. "...Hmmmm, yes."

Miho laughs softly. "Your lunches are very good," she agrees, but waits for her sister's reaction. And that is...

"It suits you," Ritsuko decides. "Though if you ever change your mind and decide to have a second yourself, perhaps Yua-chan can help you through it."

"She could at that," Miho says, without actually committing to doing so. After all, Ritsuko only nudged gently, and did so without implying Yua's doesn't count.

A lot of work, but... Ritsuko smiles. "That's something I really like about you, Yua-chan. You're committed to doing the right thing for the family you hope for. I'd better make sure not to neglect my own lunches..."

But, maybe?

"Eventually, perhaps," Ritsuko says. "It has to start somewhere. But... I can't say I expect it soon."

But Miho nods. "Right," she says. "I'll be fine."

But so will Yua. And they all have faith in him, as Ritsuko says, "He has always made the right decision for the family. I'm sure he will for you, too."

A Shinto wedding... hmmm...

"That is true," Ritsuko admits. "It was not always that way."

A pause, and gently, "...Personally, I think modern Japan needs a strong new generation in order to keep us on the world stage," she says. "I know many people consider it not their problem... But it's our duty to contribute."

"You're doing well, there, and you should be allowed to."

Miho looks to Ritsuko. "...Thank you, Sister. I appreciate that." She squeezes Yua's hand.

"...And did I mention how delicious this is?" Ritsuko says to Yua. "Ideal for good conversation, too. ...I hope it's one of many such meals to come. Next time, I'll invite you to my home."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Mm!" Yua hums, brightly. "We took a little while, just to make sure... but we're sure!!" It may have largely been space Miho was affording Yua, as is their custom, but Yua made her feelings on the matter very clear.

        (She made a BINDER.)

"Mm-hm," Yua agrees in that same noncommittal fashion, squeezing Miho's hand. "But don't worry, while Mimi's still competing, I'll take care of growing our family!" ... which handily frames any children Miho might have as coming after her fencing career. "Just leave it to me!!"

It's a little boastful, but of course carrying children is work, so why wouldn't Yua boast about taking it on?

Yua's cheeks colour with Ritsuko's praise, though, when she notices her commitment. "Thanks!" She chirps, happily. "When they're young, a good presentation helps them appreciate how it's good for them, right? And it encourages them to eat, too!" Because of course Yua knows a little of how fussy children can be; she saw both Yume and Yuken growing up, after all. But she ought to check her knowledge with the elder mother...!

"Well... it'll be okay!" Yua insists, when Ritsuko isn't quite sure Japan is ready for it.

After all, Takashi's on the case!

She smiles, though, when Ritsuko decides they should be allowed to. "Thanks," she says, again, warmly. "It's important to have children to pass your traditions down to... Grandmother taught me that!" Yua's grandmother gets the formal treatment her parents don't, and it's always been that way. It's fine.

Yua sparkles, again -- how DOES she make her portrait do that -- when Ritsuko compliments her macarons. "Thanks!" She chirps, more chipper still. "I got good at them 'cause Recchi's half-French... believe it or not, if you add a little dollop of cream of tartar, they help the egg whites stay fluffy so they don't collapse! And that trick works wonders with meringue, too!" Oh no. Are these... housewife secrets???

"I'm glad you've had a good time," Yua says, squeezing Miho's hand again. She glances to her fiancee for confirmation, as she asks: "We'd love to come over, right? Besides," she adds, bubbly, "I've got to see your babies again! I promised your eldest I'd teach her some balancing tricks for her dancing, right?" All little girls love dancing, apparently. In this, Yua is unstoppable.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"So I see!" Ritsuko smiles; they're clearly very sure. As for Miho and Yua and children, "Yes. You're working hard," Miho's sister agrees, and Miho nods in approval. "She is."

But Yua is happy. And she of course is checking, and Ritsuko nods at that, smiling. "Yes," she says. "Good food should satisfy all the senses, and that is as true for children as it does for adults."

But it'll be OK. Yua says so, and Ritsuko says, "I trust Father."

Miho answers, "Yes, Yua's Grandmother has taught her a great deal," Miho says. "And I agree. We must be ready to pass on to the next generation..."

Ritsuko answers, "Yes. Our traditions only grow in this way."

Yua sparkles. "Oh, so?" Ritsuko asks. A friend. And hmm. "You're very good..."

But Ritsuko smiles, and Miho, after a moment's thought, says, "Yes. We would. I would enjoy seeing your children again as well."

"You did!" Ritsuko answers brightly. "And my boy's a bit young for dancing, but your presence always seems to delight him."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

Yua smiles, sunnily, basking in Miho and Ritsuko's approval. The latter has wisdom for her, in the realm of bento boxes, and Yua nods with animated affirmation. "Yes!"

Miho gets to enjoy that, too...

"Grandmother leads my side of the family, just as Father does yours," and Yua's brave enough to just call him 'father' this time, look at her go!! "For in the way of our people we look to strong women to lead us... and that might explain something about me and Mimi, too!" See? Miho's not just playing the role of a husband, she's also being placed as a matriarch.

(She's a little nervous talking about her culture to Ritsuko, but... well, she's nice!)

"Mm!" Yua hums, when Ritsuko prompts her. "Friends are great inspirations for learning to cook new things! And it works both ways, too... I've got a friend who's learning to bake who I've given recipes, too!!" That's Myunghon, of course; Yua's told Miho over dinner, already, naturally.

And... Miho is happy to see Ritsuko again, too, which is a relief in Yua's heart, who is trying her very best to rebuild this bridge between them. "Yes!" She agrees, brightly, and to the question of her younger son -- "Little kids love music and moving around, right? It's a great way to learn! Why, I started ballet lessons when I was just a toddler... and my mom tells me it made me much more coordinated when I was running around!"

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho sure does. She enjoys those lunches and dinners and breakfasts...

"I see," Ritsuko says thoughtfully. "How interesting." She seems to roll it over in her mind a bit. Strong women... "I can't say I mind the idea of being listened to more," she admits. "But of course, I'm sure our men do their best already." She can't quite go for it, it would be RUDE, but she's clearly not that opposed to the idea. "Convenient for you that my sister is still a woman, then."

Miho inclines her head. "....The tradition is rich. I respect Yua's Grandmother quite strongly."

"Of course."

But friends!! "oh, so?" Ritsuko asks about the friend. "Hmmm. You really are shaping up into quite the housewife, Yua-chan."

Miho... had to think about it. But it should be nice. She has traditionally run from some of these bonding exercises... but she's going to be a parent, and...

"They do!" Ritsuko agrees. "A bit of rhythm is never amiss in growth. Did you really start so young? How impressive!"

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Kings are still men," Yua assures Ritsuko, because of course the spiritual leaders of Okinawa being women hardly precludes the leaders of mortal life. "So men certainly do their best! But Mimi does, too... and I can really appreciate that."

Yua rubs at Miho's arm, smiling up to her, for a moment, clearly appreciative of her respect.

She also appreciates being recognised for her efforts in housewifery, though. "Eee!" She chirps, with glee, clapping her hands together. "Hear that, Mimi?! I can really do it!!"

One might think that becoming a housewife isn't something that ought to be this exciting, given how it's basically the expectation for women in society, but... well, it's not nearly as expected when she's homemaking for another woman, they've been over that.

It's okay, Miho. Yua will hold your hand in the bonding exercises. Like so:

"Yes!" She smiles, brightly, as Ritsuko queries her long dancing history. "We watched a lot of American cartoons back home as a child, so I got it into my head that I wanted to be a ballerina princess, you see... and after mom had her miscarriage, she realised she'd been putting a lot of pressure on me, so they ended up relenting and finding me a class. They were pretty worried about me dancing in a Western style, but... I learned traditional styles, too!"

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"Hmmm. So roles for both..." This appeals. Of course, she won't supplant her own way of being, but it can let her accept Yua's preferences. Right?

"You can," Miho agrees with Yua, stroking her hand lightly.

Ritsuko appreciates housewifery being given proper respect, anyway; she would say she works hard at it, even if she does more supervising and less of the dirty work aspects herself. ...Still some of them, though. She doesn't get away from it entirely.

Bonding!!

"I see," Ritsuko answers. "Hmmm." A miscarriage; Ritsuko's expression turns briefly sympathetic and deeply so. But then, "I see... Well, it's good that you held onto your traditions as well. Adding new things to our lives is well and good, but we shouldn't forget what we have already had."

Miho takes a sip of her wine, meanwhile, looks between the other women at the table. "Of course, I am already accustomed to mixing our traditions with those of others... for the betterment of our family and nation."

Western fencing is not Japanese, after all.

"Quite," Ritsuko says. "And ballet is lovely."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Mmhm!" Yua nods, cheerfully, when Ritsuko considers the roles of men and women. She's happy enough if she'll accept Yua's feelings on it; she knows that women enamoured of Japan aren't likely to change their minds that much.

Still, she's nice! Yua can still get along with her, she just maybe oughtn't mention certain cultural assumptions which led to all those military bases being built on their land. It's fine, Miho knows how she feels.

Yua could probably stand to learn a little more about supervising herself, at least from the perspective of rich women; she helps Eiko with the housework often, but doesn't really tell her what to do. Why would she?? Eiko's been doing this for years, she knows what she's doing!

Luckily, Miho has her own perspectives on introducing the West to their practice, and Yua looks to her gratefully as she speaks up. "That's right!" She agrees, brightly. "Your swordsmanship is syncretic, too!"

(Of course, Miho is no less a samurai for it.)

"Ballet requires a high level of physical and mental training," Yua says, and is quite pleased to say it. "There are actually a lot of similarities between Mimi and my practices! Though, I don't dance with a professional troupe..." Yua's bright future as a dancer, after all, was cruelly cut short; she will never be the prima ballerina, the way Miho is, to her blade.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Yes, it might be best not to challenge certain cultural assumptions at dinner, just now, with Ritsuko. Maybe later.

Still, Miho smiles back to Yua. "Yes," she says. "The sword is pursued in many ways, by many cultures... but its heart has much in common."

But ballet, Yua explains, and Ritsuko listens. "I would certainly watch if you did," Ritsuko answers Yua. "But perhaps, if your son favors the sword, a future daughter might favor the stage." She smiles.

It's a polite thing to say, but it may or may not be something she strictly believes is likely or good.

"I know that Miho has had a good habit of favoring the arts..."

"That is true," Miho says, "And not only because my Yua is so adept. ...I think it is important, in general, that culture be nurtured."

Miho smiles at Yua. "...Though I need not say that to you, darling."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"The heart of the sword... it's surely inside you," Yua smiles, to Miho, and she is just so lovey-dovey it's ridiculous.

Yua smiles, as well. "That's what I suspect!" She agrees, brightly. "And that's part of why I'm praying for a boy... aside from my naming plans. Boys are more likely to take to swords, you know? Yuken-kun was like that, too..." Because of course her little brother was fascinated by Miho's competitions.

"I wouldn't want to force my children to take to anything," she adds, "but I really want to give Mimi the opportunity to pass her knowledge on...!"

Yua smiles, gazing up to Miho. "That's right! Memimi's a patron!" She bubbles, brightly, and it is of course the highest compliment she can afford her, in this context. And when she adds that she doesn't have to tell her, Yua sparkles, and agrees: "Nope!"

So, she has a while to go before her speech is properly aristocratic...

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

The heart of the sword. Ritsuko looks between them and sighs, laughing softly. "...Yes, your love is true all right."

But suspecting... Hmmm. "Yes," she says, "That's true. Our Miho has always been a little unusual on that front--and has taken to less feminine approaches overall, hm?"

Miho says, "I appreciate femininity... but I appreciate the trappings more from outside. It suits me to go more simply."

But, "Ahhh, yes, the younger brother. Boys do love swords."

But she wouldn't force it. "Hmm." A kind heart... "I'm sure Miho will do well there."

Miho smiles at Yua. She also sparkles a bit, but more subtly.

"Hm hm. ...Say," she says, "Do you have any more? I... am terribly hungry, actually..."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Mimi has her own way to be a woman!" Yua declares, brightly. "And I love the way she's chosen!" Yes... this must truly be true love.

She is of course kind-hearted, a thing Miho has to fight so hard to protect, in their position. "Mimi has so much to teach," Yua agrees, all warm and fuzzy.

Sparkle, sparkle...! Yua catches the sparkly nature of Miho's smile, too, and that makes her all the happier. It's okay to be subtle if you're Miho!!

"Oh, yes!" Yua exclaims, when the macarons are maca-routed. "I'll fetch them for you... and something more to drink, too...!"

Yua perhaps has a thing or two to learn still about having a maid, but her heart's in the right place.

She is a very good host, and she will make sure her family has a good time.
