  • Summary: Yua plays in a pool hunt Miho's set up for her, but when she's done with her game, her adult problems haven't gone away. The two of them talk about it... but Yua isn't able to verbalise just why she's so intent on exclusivity. She lets her physical intimacy speak for her, instead, as Miho does her best to support her.

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

Earlier tonight, Myunghon was visiting. Now, the stars glitter in the sky...

Miho's penthouse occupies the very topmost floor of her father's apartment block. It comes with an extremely generous deck -- including a rooftop pool, situated between the many flowers and plants Yua's grown out here. This late at night, it's a little cool...

... but still only a little. They're in the height of Summer, and all that heat the city stored up is radiating back upwards, now.

        And -- splash!!

        Yua has two different swimsuits.

Well, that's not quite true; Yua is Miho's partner. Yua probably has, like, TEN different swimsuits. But Yua has two different characteristics of swimsuits: the kind of swimsuit she would wear when other people are observing her, and the kind of swimsuit she's happy to wear when Miho's the only other one in the pool.

Which is to say: this bikini is positively racy. It's aqua blue with spackles of gold and green, with thin straps which are tied up in lovely little bows.

(And what about her eyepatch? Don't worry about that. It's waterproof.)

        Splash!!!

Each of these splashes coincides with Yua surfacing on the pool and producing one of several pool toys made to look like shells and sea-creatures, each weighted and buoyed differently to hang at different depths. Yua used to do quite a lot of diving back home, but she rarely gets the chance to, these days; so of course, Miho brought her some things to play with while she was too occupied to go to the beach.

There are even some things in here which have shielded motors to let them wriggle around and swim in the water! Like the 'eel' Yua snags, when next she dives down. (She isn't wearing goggles, and she doesn't have a snorkel. Those are mainlander things.) The pool has some plastic 'rocks' set up on the bottom to make things feel a little more like a coral reef and a little less like a pool; it is of course all devastatingly fabricated, but it's convincing enough to play with.

... because, of course, Yua never got the memo that adults were supposed to stop playing. Yua still gets so much joy out of it!

        Splash!!!!!

This time, she found a squishy fake sea urchin...

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

The stars are beautiful. And it is a little cool... But indeed, only a little.

Miho prefers one-piece swimsuits, herself. One might expect that she would instead wear shorts and a swim shirt, but this is not so; she's wearing a conservative green one-piece that resembles little more than an athlete's; it is designed to reduce drag, to be reasonably comfortable, and to cover what needs covering.

Nevertheless, her body looks great in it, down to her exposed, muscular arms.

She appreciates Yua's bikini, though.

Yua goes down and up, down and up, and Miho is enjoying watching Yua's enrichment. The eel!

...it is play, and Miho, where she sits on a lounge chair waiting for Yua to come up.

"Ahhh," she says. "Delightful. You're making very good time..."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

Miho has built a very enriching space for Yua, here. And she's clearly enjoying it!!

"Heehee!" Yua giggles, the water sparkling around her as she clasps her hands to her mouth. "That's right! I'm the fastest! Next up is the octopus!!"

        Splash!!!

She arcs back into the water more like a dolphin than an athlete, feet clasped together as she descends down. In the water, everything is wavy -- including her hair, viewed from above, presently unbound and swimming around her even as she swims about the pool. Nostrils pinched shut, and lips pressed together, Yua fans her arms around herself to push the water past her and swim along the bottom.

        She's looking for... for...

... for the sneakiest toy of the lot!!

The octopus is made of clear soft plastic, with details painted on to make it not entirely transluscent; even so, in the refraction of the water, it's almost invisible. She places a hand at one of the curved 'rocks', as she scrutinises the bottom of the pool, and if Miho didn't know Yua as well as she did she might start to become concerned at how long she's been down there.

        Buuut... there!!

Yua snags the octopus in one swift motion, and kicks off of the decorations at the bottom, surfacing in another SPLASH!!

"I got him!" She says, brightly.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

And Yua having a good time means Miho is having a good time. "You are!" Miho agrees. She might've assumed goggles and snorkel... If she didn't know Yua so well by now. Well, maybe not snorkel. It doesn't help when you go down far enough.

But Yua goes back into the water. Miho admires Yua's hair, wavy and unbound. She watches Yua's technique; she's learned some from it, actually. But now...

Ah--there it is. Miho knows precisely where it is, because she made it her business to set this up and know. But now, so does--

"Congratulations!" Miho claps. "I thought I'd put that one somewhere difficult to see..."

As it happens, Miho's hair is wet, too. For this reason.

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Heehee... you were pretty sneaky! But you can't fool me, Mimi!!" Yua declares, fierce in her joy. "Last up... is the conch!!"

There's a real conch shell by the door to the deck, as it happens, a beautiful specimen of a Chiragra spider conch. That one isn't a toy, though -- it's a good luck charm, and so it has an honoured display hanging from the wall beside the entryway.

The conch shell Yua is searching for is made of plastic. And it's been cleverly tucked away between two of the 'rocks', as if the snail were pretending to be a rock itself. At first glance, Yua swims right over it! But when she kicks off the side of the pool and does another loop around...

She does not say, 'aha!', because she's underwater. But she does visibly pull up and then dive down, snagging the snail from its hidey-hole and surfacing in a magnificent SPLASH.

"Got it! Got it!" She crows, holding it up as she bobs in the water. "I got them all, Mimi!!"

Yua puts the shell off to the side of the pool as she tugs herself up onto the edge, taking a moment to wring out her hair (she has SO MUCH HAIR) before she hops up and bounces over to where Miho's lounging. "Were you impressed?" She asks, as she plonks herself right down in Miho's lap, leaning over to plant her hands at either side of the chair and tilt her head with a wide grin.

Of course, she's a damp cat.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"Right!"

Miho actually smiles. Not that that's too surprising, being with Yua, but she is still not the most demonstrative woman. This, though... This is 'fun'.

"Go for it."

Miho waits, looking down into the water--until Yua comes back up.

"Amazing," she replies, and then inclines her head when Yua comes over. She laughs, when Yua just goes for her lap.

"I'm very impressed," she says. "You not only got them all, but you did so so quickly..."

"It's nice, to see you in the water."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Yay!" Yua, who is almost twenty-three of God's own years old, still says 'yay' unironically. And she's ADORABLE. "Mm-hmm, that's me! I was swimming as soon as I was walking, you know!!"

Mantled over Miho like this, Yua naturally leans down to kiss her; it's only once she has that she lets herself drop down to flop against Miho's chest, her arms arching up to rest loosely behind her head instead.

Luckily, Miho's outdoor furniture is sturdy enough to support two people... though it helps that Yua really isn't all that heavy.

"It's a lot of fun," Yua smiles, looking up instead of down now. "I miss being in the water all the time... Ebisu Beach is nice, but it isn't really the same."

Yua used to go out there a lot, too, but... ever since they assaulted Katsuya on the beach, it's been harder for her to visit without feeling guilty.

Call it one of the Order's many crimes.

"This place really is like our own little castle," she sighs, bending an elbow so that she can bring one of her outstretched hands down enough to play through Miho's damp hair. "I really hope we don't have to leave..."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Yay, she says. Miho smiles. "And you are quite skilled..."

Miho is heavy enough! All that muscle weighs something. But she leans up, for once, into Yua, instead of down the other way, and wraps arms about her to hold her securely in place on the lounge.

"It isn't the same," Miho agrees. "But this is good. I've enjoyed the chance to be in the water again, myself..."

Another crime. One of many.

"Mm," Miho says. "That... I do not know yet."

"But while I enjoy this place, and my things, what matters most is you."

"...I would have it all rebuilt completely differently if necessary--if it meant another place with you."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"You look great in the water, too," Yua smiles, dreamily, as she fiddles with the hair atop Miho's head. "The water makes you shine even more... wow, you're perfect..."

Miho might be solid as a brick, but Yua happens to think that brick houses are stunning.

She's a little more troubled, though, as she thinks of the future. A light frown creases her soft features, her fingers stilling at Miho's crown. "Mm... but what about our plants?" Yua might be cultivating them, but clearly Miho still has a share in her greenery. "Where would they go...? And Tiger, too..."

Yua bites at her lip, glancing aside to Miho's strong arms. She's glad that she's holding her here; and not just because she's just gotten out of the pool, so it's not impossible she might slip out of a precarious perch. "I'm just scared we'll have to go live somewhere else... I like it here. We have a room for the baby, and everything!" One being repurposed, to be fair, but there's more than enough space. "But now I have to care about appearances... mouuuu."

She shakes that sad pout off of her face, though, to smile to Miho again. "But... it was interesting to go on television!" She insists. "There's rather a lot of makeup involved in going on there... between that and the dress, I felt like a totally different person." Yua has a Uniform, after all. It's Important to her.

... and she wasn't wearing it, yesterday.

"Did I look good?" She asks, tilting her head with another of those smiles.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho closes her eyes for a moment and sighs. It's good, having Yua here.

"Thank you," she murmurs, and opens her eyes again to think of the future.

"I'll be sure they're taken care of," Miho says, "If it comes to that. And Tiger, of course."

She is scared... Miho can see that. "I also like it here," she says. "There's a reason I secured it. And stayed here. ...But it was never so good as it was until you came."

Appearances. "Yes, I understand..."

But, interesting? "Hmmm, yes. It is like that. And on television we often are different people. It's part of playing to an audience. ...And sometimes, what the audience needs is different from what you'd usually imagine..."

A smile back. "You did. It was..."

She considers. "It was strange, watching you with him. But you acquitted yourself wonderfully."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"And Tiger will take care of you?" Yua presses, and her pressure speaks to her fear so clearly.

(It's also true, though, that while Yua was gone, Tiger was here, sitting on Miho with his magnificent weight...)

"You made sure I'd have a safe place to be... maybe I like it so much because as far as I know, you were always here?" Yua guesses, her head tilting the other way.

The penthouse was never empty... from Yua's perspective.

She wags a foot into the air as she listens to Miho's wisdom about television, her expression growing thoughtful. Maybe that's why it had to be that way...

        But -- strange.

Yua pulls a hand down, to cup Miho's cheek, concern creasing her brow. "Were you jealous...?" She wonders, gently. "It's okay, Mimi... he got the thing you wanted. I'd be jealous, too. It's weird for me, too, acting like I'm close to him... but if I pretend he's you, it's easier for me to lean into him out there." She sighs, a deep huff that raises her chest against Miho's before thonking back down. "I wish it were you..."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"...Yes," Miho relents after a moment. "Tiger long has."

"That could be," Miho answers Yua's supposition. "But it may just be a very nice apartment." She smiles.

Strange is the word she used. Miho accepts Yua's concern, and inclines her head very slightly. "Yes," she says. "He did. ...And does."

"I don't resent him for it, as such... But I do have some envy."

A pause. "Is that so?" she wonders. "Easier, then..."

"...I wish that, too. But do as you must. It is important... for our child."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"He's such a good boy," Yua smiles.

Miho suggests that it's just a very nice apartment, though, and that has Yua giggling, despite the heaviness of the future. "Mimiii!" She whines, with cheerful reproach. How can she say it's just a nice apartment!! ... even if she's right. "Aww, it is really nice..."

Yua is jealous, certainly -- jealous of all those couples who can promise themselves to each other without this kind of dance, who don't need to hide away like they're doing something bad. No wonder, then, she'd worry about Miho's jealousy.

"It's not his fault," Yua sighs, "but it's not fair... for any of us."

She smooths her thumb across Miho's cheek, gazing up to her. "We have to be strong for Hiroki," she agrees, shifting with her awareness of her stomach pressed to Miho. "At least... there's things he'll never have, since it wouldn't be proper to do them in front of company. You know..."

Yua's other arm pulls down to grasp at Miho's shoulder, steadying herself in her arms as she tilts her body, one leg coming up to support her going sideways so she isn't all pressed up and hidden against Miho's swimsuit.

"I dressed up just for you," Yua advances, a touch tentative. "An outfit like this... it's just for you, Mimi..."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho laughs faintly. "It is," she agrees. "It is."

But it isn't his fault, they are sure of that much. ...Well, except insofar as he volunteered. Miho hasn't forgotten that. But he volunteered to help, she reminds herself... "Not to him either," she supposes. "He has to put on this show, just to advance in his career. A career meant to advance society..."

But they have to be strong. "Mm...?"

Miho looks down between them, and then slowly up past Yua's neck, chin, and eye again.

"This is true," Miho answers. "...It wouldn't be proper at all."

"So this is all mine..."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"Society doesn't realise he can care about it without having a family," Yua frowns. "He cares about traditions and stuff, even without wanting a wife... but people don't trust him to do that." She sympathises with him, clearly.

Still -- as much as Yua might feel for Kimitake, the woman she wants to feel, evidently, is right here. Yua shivers under Miho's gaze, a blush prettying her cheeks; she rubs her hand along the defined and well-disciplined muscles of Miho's paler arm. "All yours," Yua promises. "I'm yours, Mimi... even if I have to lie, the lie's just for other people."

... in the end, feeling another man's arm around her just makes her all the more desperate for Miho's embrace. There's something a touch delicate to her, even more than the background notes of breakability she's always dancing to. It needs to be Miho.

"I was really happy when you set everything up for me to go scavenging tonight," Yua says, smiling to the woman she wished to be her wife. "You're always so thoughtful, Mimi... you really helped me relax. And you look so beautiful..."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"One must perform 'expectation'," Miho says. "To have necessary trappings, look..."

But Miho dose not linger overmuch on Kimitake for now, not with Yua right here. Instead, she smiles. "You are," she says. "And I know. ...We all belong to many people, in the end. I am also my father's daughter, my brother's sister..."

"But no matter what I am to anyone else, no matter what you are to anyone else... we are each other's."

Miho keeps hold of Yua, though her grip is slacker, to allow her to move.

"I'm glad. It was meant to make you happy."

A smile back. "Thank you."

"...It is because I love you."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"That's... 'belonging', right?" Yua ventures, uncertain. "I just... want to belong with you most of all. I feel his hands on me, I steady myself against him, and I..." Yua looks down, lashes veiling her one visible eye.

She feels bought and paraded, her worth quantifiable, as if she can profess intimacy and affection in exchange for the boon of a powerful man; and certainly, there is a word for that, a word she thinks in her mind.

A word quite familiar to her -- as a thing the mainland so often burdened Okinawa with, demanding that support for America's military bases.

She cannot bring herself to say it, though for a moment she looks ashen, like she might be ill again tonight.

"I'm okay," she assures Miho, a breath later, but her voice is quiet.

"Seeing you looking so stunning here... it does make me so happy," Yua sighs, rubbing Miho's arm a little more. "I love you too, Mimi... Memimi! I love you so much... so, SO much."

But her smile's still so easily shattered.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"Yes," Miho says. "The interdependency of family, of society... What I'm saying is..."

"Even if you become 'his wife', that is not more important than being 'the one I love'. There are bonds society will assume are most sacred... but ours is, too. Ours is destiny and choice both. It is destiny that we would meet; it is choice, that we would love."

"So remember that."

She's okay, and Miho is not so sure.

She smiles. "Yua," she says softly. "...I love you. I said it before, but I will say it again."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"I'm your wife," Yua insists, a touch sullenly. "I don't care what the ceremony says. I'm not... a wife for show... I wanted to promise you." She takes a breath, though, and nods, swallowing audibly. "But... but it is both those things, and... and... since I'm in your family, we're still closer, right? Since it's all connected, and stuff..."

That is, Yua supposes, Takashi's logic; and certainly, she can't say her new Father is wrong.

She nods, again. She'll try to remember it. It's just...

It's hard, but it's a little easier, hearing her name in such loving yobisute. Yua's smile grows a little easier, her hand slipping up to knead at Miho's shoulder.

"Thank you," she says, and her voice is gentled. "I really needed to hear that... from the woman I love. After such an eventful weekend... I guess I'm still a little overwhelmed..."

She steadies herself at Miho's shoulder, as her face tilts to nose in against her neck. "Would you... touch me?" She beseeches her, softly, her breath at her ear. "Playing in the pool... it didn't entirely wash off the feeling of pretending too much... I need you now more than ever, Mimi."

And in multiple senses of the word. Miho is her rock; she may share all her joy and sensuality with her, but it is Miho she'll rely on, when she looks down and the vertigo hits.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"I know," Miho says. "And I'm glad for that. ...But we are closer. We'll share a name."

Still...

She needed to hear it. Miho is glad she was able to give that; and she is not surprised that she's overwhelmed.

"I will," Miho answers. "Indeed... I thought you might not ask soon enough," she says, her voice going quiet, but not entirely gentle.

"We'll have time where neither of us has to pretend anything."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ooshiro has posed.

"I'll be Yua Ijuuin, finally... I always wanted that." But Yua's voice grows tight, for a moment, because of course she wanted to be Mrs. Miho Ijuuin.

Back when she was in high school, she used to fill her notebooks with writings all about it... she was so sure it would be possible any day, now.

A blush spreads over Yua's cheeks, always a touch surprised but ever appreciative of the power in Miho's voice; she nuzzles her face in against Miho's neck, and she can, at least, feel her smiling.

"Take me back, Mimi," she murmurs, against her. "All this, it's always been for you... I chose you..."

Their bond is not only a matter of destiny; it's more personal than that.

... as always, they end up spending a lot of time together.
