- Summary: Eiji Kamiya's heart was changed by the Phantom Thieves and his human trafficking operations were shut down. However, the corruption runs deep enough that there are always people that will take advantage of the good that others do.
"Our top story tonight, Eiji Kamiya, recent recipient of a calling card from the Phantom Thieves of Hearts has turned himself in, promising a full confession for crimes of sexual assault, rape, murder and running a human trafficking operation out of Iwatodai City."
"Unfortunately for Kamiya-san, it seems as if a plea bargain for his cooperation and full confession will be impossible. Mere hours before his 'Change of Heart' occurred a series of police raids conducted by the Special Investigations Unit and the Sumaru Police Department have shut down the majority of his criminal operations in Iwatodai City and the Konan District of Sumaru City."
"These images were taken of the pair who spear-headed the investigations, media darling and Second Coming of the Detective Prince, Goro Akechi and rising star of the Sumaru City Police Department, Sergeant Katsuya Suou... who managed to become a Detective at such a young age!"
"Not as young as Akechi-kun though, haha!"

Captain Shimazu's eyes were glued to the screen of the TV within his office, with a tense expression. "... This changes nothing. You're simply going to have to redouble your efforts to meet your quotas."
A scar-faced man, wearing a white cheongsam complained casually from his current seat on the couch, "Hou? How is this my job when it's your own subordinate's fault? If you kept your own house in order, wouldn't be in this situation in the first place."
"Because this is what your people were brought in for." Captain Shimazu retorted with a hard edge of authority, "Perhaps you've forgotten who's life is on the line."
Yung Pao looked across the room at him like he'd already figured out five ways to kill him before he ever drew his gun, then smiled, "Of course not. I just think not reasonable to expect me to work harder because your man is disobedient."
Shimazu inhaled, then looked at the screen again, that image of Goro Akechi and Katsuya Suou being caught by the reporters, "Yes, I do agree at least that young Suou is becoming a bit of a problem..."

"I took my orders from... an organization called the New World Order. They're - a group of people who control nearly everything in Japan from behind the scenes." Eiji Kamiya, said, dispirited in tone. "Or at least that's what I was told. I never actually met the people who gave the orders... they always contacted me over the phone."
"Your phone records indicated no unusual activity." Sae Niijima said, impatiently. "Are you /really/ offering your full cooperation?"
"We used- burners. You know, those cheap cell phones that-"
"I know what a burner phone is." Sae interrupted him, tersely, "I just find it hard to believe that a hardened criminal such as yourself actually believes there's an organization that runs this country."
"My father- he knows more, I guess."
"You /GUESS/?" She snapped at him, and the once proud criminal now flinched and shrank before the prosecutor, "Well, he always indicated it was off limits... like you know- he used that old expression about not wanting to know how the sausage gets made..."
"And you expect me to believe he thought his son, engaging in human trafficking- and numerous other crimes would be too /squeamish/ to learn such a truth?"
"I... don't know, he never really explained more than that."
Sae Niijima stood up abruptly, "I don't have time for this nonsense." Taking hold of her briefcase, she looked over to the other figure in the interrogation room, leaning against the wall. Goro Akechi, his arms crossed, each hand sporting a black glove.
"You can take it from here, right?"
Goro Akechi smiled, "I'm honored by your trust." Sae rolled her eyes, "Just get the rest of his statement straight, if he breathes even a word of this in court, the defense might actually make a viable argument for an insanity plea."
As she left the room, closing the door behind her, someone in the room behind a one-way mirror flipped a switch, turning off the cameras and the recording.
Akechi then took several steps, pulling out the chair Sae was sitting in previously, and settling down, elbows on the table, fingers together. As he said, with a sharp edge of menace.
"Now that we're alone... let's have a /conversation/."

"Extradited!? What do you mean he's being EXTRADITED? We're a national jurisdiction here!" Sae all but yelled at the Director, Mouri. As the man calmly replied to her.
"It's an election year, coming up. You know how this works. Evidence has come to light that Eiji Kamiya's operations were far more extensive than we knew, targeting native communities in Hokkaido."
"And so you're giving away our prosecution so some politician in the boonies can get a PR Boost!?"
"Orders from the Commissioner General. Native rights are a hot button issue this year... given our country's checkered past. Don't worry Niijima-san, you'll still be given credit for every conviction of his subordinates - but this has to happen."
Sae looked disgusted, briefly, as Mouri continued, "Perhaps look at this as a positive. Taking a high profile case off your plate will offer you time for a long overdue vacation."
"I'll think about it." She said tersely, before leaving his office. Mouri watched her leave, then sat back in his chair, folding his hands, "This couldn't have gone better for our side... still, another Change of Heart for someone even on the fringes of the organization /is/ concerning."
The man paused for a time, considering how best to handle this, before coming to his own conclusion.
"Perhaps a change of approach towards these so-called Phantom Thieves is in order..."
