- Summary: In the aftermath of Eiji Kamiya's arrest, a few things can change for Ichika. Her parents decide to disucss some.
"ichika-chan," Mrs. Kawase says, "You have a letter."
"...A letter that wants both of you to talk to me?" Ichika asks, looking over both her mother and father's serious expressions.
"Yes," Dr. Kawase answers. "...It's from Seven Sisters High. Here." The very-tall man passes the letter across the table to Ichika, where she opens it up and reads it with a steadily increasing frown.
"Daddy..." Ichika scowls when she reaches the end. "Hmph. So they want to reinstate me at their school. With a nice apology."
"Yes," Dr. Kawase says. "They do. We think you should consider it."
"Really?" Ichika asks. "After the way they treated me? After the way that Hannya--"
"Principal Hanya is dead," Mrs. Kawase says, gently, stumbling only a little over it. "...I know you'd be reluctant, but for your future..."
"Because Kasu High is such a bad school," Ichika says, and there's a little bite to it, but only a little.
"Frankly yes," Dr. Kawase says. "You've mentioned your hope to become a reporter; you'd have an easier time getting into university from Sevens."
"...But I'd be abandoning my friends," Ichika answers. "It'd be like... pretending none of it ever happened."
"So you're sure?" Mrs. Kawase says. "I'd like you to take some time to think about it..."
"It's not necessary," Ichika says. "I'm not going. I know my stuff at Kasu worries you guys, but... I'd rather make the best of it than sweep it all under the rug. And I can't abandon my crew."
"You're sure, then," Dr. Kawase answers. "..." He sighs. "I thought you'd say as much."
"We appreciate your integrity," Mrs. Kawase adds, "But... It will make things harder. And we do worry about you activities at Kasugayama..."
"...If it helps," Ichika says, "We're... trying to be more legit. Um, I mean, to... make less trouble."
"Yes," Mrs. Kawase says, "Tsubasa-kun talked about that too. They want to become a detective!"
"It does help," Dr. Kawase says. "I would appreciate you cleaning up your act. Especially since that boy is no longer a problem. ...So if you can promise me you'll do that, then I won't object to your staying at Kasugayama."
"Thanks, Daddy," Ichika says, "Mom. ...It's... it's important to me. Thanks for understanding. And, I promise."
"...Besides," Dr. Kawase says, "We knew you wouldn't be likely to leave Tsubasa-kun. We just needed you to at least /think/ about it. But it's your future. So do your best." He pauses. "And get your things. We're going out."
"Huh?" Ichika asks. "For what?"
"You're living away from us again, and I'd prefer you be better able to come back regularly--with your friends even. So let's look at cars, since you have your license now."
Mrs. Kawase smiles. "...Call it a celebration. Of that horrible boy being out of your life foever. And we'll hold you to it, too, that you come back regularly!"
