<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
When Yukari finds Lisa, she's down away from the beach, on a bench where the city turns back into city off the sand again. If Yukari hears a sniffle, no she didn't. It's fine.
But it's dark and cold out here, and Lisa's light jacket is not going to do the trick on its own. She hasn't gotten out her phone to call someone yet...
But she can see the beach down the way, and doesn't really want to look to it.
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
Yukari knows girl code.
She didn't hear a sniffle, especially given how angry she was before.
Even though she also did.
"Hey." She says, once she's close enough. "Figured you know - it's better you not be all by yourself in this part of town, right?"
There, you see.
Not even calling attention to what happened yet. Just, practical reasons.
"No reason we can't just hang out here for a bit. ... Though, you sure you're not cold? ... My shoulders definitely are."
There, the floor is now hers, her way of extending an invitation without going 'yeah I'm here because of the other thing that just happened.'
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"...Hey, Yukari-chan."
Better for her not to be by herslef in this part of town... "That's probably true," Lisa allows, straightening her shoulders slightly. Practical concerns. "Mm, I'm a little cold, yeah. I should've gone for leggings, but I thought my legs looked great in this dress..."
And instead, they are COLD.
"Unless you've got a warmer place in mind, you can sit down if you want. I don't mind hanging out for a few."
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
"Honestly? They kinda do."
Hard to take advantage of looking good if you're cold though, but while she is cold, she's at least warm most everywhere.
She's used to the sacrifice of wearing mini-skirts in the winter, by wearing other warm clothing.
"Not really?"
A beat.
"I'd suggest the museum as it's close... except, you know."
It's kinda a big old pile of rubble and ashes, and not even warm ones.
She has a seat, beside her, sitting at least close enough that if Lisa needs to, she's got a shoulder to cry on or at least a warm sleeve to warm up against.
"... Sorry, I shouldn't have dragged you along to approach that jerk." As she tests the waters some, without demanding she speak on it.
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Heh. Thanks," Lisa says, and glances down. "I'm a little tall, so they're a good feature."
Of all Lisa's problems, lack of body confidence isn't one. ...Mostly, anyway; she is aware of certain... differences, between herself and her classmates.
But, "Yeah, maybe not." The museum. Lisa doesn't immediately lean on Yukari, but she scoots a little closer despite herself anyway. The warmth of the other girl is better than the chill of the night air.
"It's OK," Lisa says. "I went along with it. ...I haven't met him many times, but he just... makes me so mad. I don't know why it's getting to me so much."
"It's just... My heart hurts. It's like I'm forgetting something really important. And I have no idea why I'd feel that way."
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
"Totally. Definite asset both on stage and off the stage."
The same goes for Yukari. She's confident about herself looking good. After all, if she didn't, why would so many boys ask her out? Obviously she has good looks going for her.
She nods along with her saying she makes him so mad, not saying anything quite yet... but the feeling she describes...?
She looks surprised momentarily, then...
"Would it be weird if I said sometimes I feel the same way? Just, in general lately... I don't know why."
She's surprised LISA feels it, not being a Persona User, she assumed it was some supernatural nonsense thing...
"And well, it's okay if you're upset. That guy definitely provoked you with some weird nickname you didn't like... in public. I hope it doesn't catch on with anyone else."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Yeah!"
Lisa has that even more than she used to--but more and more of them are just interested because she's an idol, now. That's not what Lisa wants.
But Yukari's surprise tracks; her understanding surprises Lisa in turn, and Lisa blinks over at Yukari. "Is that...?"
"Huh. Yeah, a little weird," she admits. "But... nice. It's nice not to be the only one."
"Ugh, yes. He was at my school before, picking up his girlfriend. I don't know what she sees in him. I mean, he puts on a pretty good show, but he's so arrogant, and he gives out these weird nicknames!"
"Me, either."
She sighs.
"I was trying to be nice, though. Getting snippy with a musician, even one like that, isn't exactly good for our image..."
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
"... Yeah. It really is. I haven't... talked about it with anyone else." She looks away for a moment, "Maybe I'm afraid of what they'd say, you know?"
She looks back though as she talks about Eikichi, "Ugh. Well maybe just likes the flashy type? Who can say. He's definitely not my type."
There's a shake of his head. "Yeah, I'm not sure where he even thought that one up? Is it some stupid pun on your name? Geez..."
There's a weak sort of laughter as she says it's not good for her image, "Kinda makes me glad I'm not an idol. I could never hold back for the sake of my image..."
...
...
...
"...honestly the fact that you couldn't either makes me like you more. If you had to put on some fakey good girl act all the time - I'm not sure I could stand it..."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"I am, too," Lisa admits. Afraid of what they might say. "But it's been a thing, lately..."
"I guess," the flashy type. "Mine either, for sure. No guy who wears that much makeup is gonna be for me."
A stupid pun on her name. "Yeah. He was trying to find something to call me other than 'white girl'." Lisa rolls her eyes. "...I used to catch a lot for that. But people got better about it..."
Mostly thanks to her best friends smoothing it over, a fact of which Lisa is aware.
But holding back for image?
"...Heh. I appreciate that. I just feel like I'm too loud. ...They say I'm allowed to get away with a little more because I'm 'wilder' but I think that's just because they think of me as a foreigner, too."
"...I'm really worried that I'll lose my temper and ruin it all for Sheba and Mee-ho..."
"Thanks, though. We've got more performance stuff coming up soon... Hopefully this doesn't get in the way."
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
She nods to the idea it's been a thing. It's been a thing for both of them. Good to know, but, why?
"Well maybe at least you have someone to talk to about it now... and I can do the same. Sometimes it's like - I feel like my reflection isn't my own, even, when it's at its worst..."
Before she winces, "Yeah same? Like I appreciate that he puts some work into his appearance just- it all seems to be an ego thing for him."
She's not a huge fan of makeup on guys, not a hard pass, but - with that much? It is for her at least.
"Ouch." Is her remark to an alternate for white girl. "I guess I don't get why? Some white girl from overseas could never speak Japanese as well as you do. You're just like any other girl here..."
Except for her complexion. She's not naive, she gets that in Japan that means some people will always say not Japanese.
It's just... she knows better now, at least in that respect.
"Eh... maybe that's how people see it? But I think they'd always try to find an excuse for a girl who's not acting like they think they should. For me they say I wasn't raised right..."
Because her Dad was just a bad person in their eyes, who got so many people killed. And her Mother as a result is a bad person for marrying the wrong guy.
Shitty parents create shitty kids. That's what everyone thinks.
"Hmm. Well... I get that. But you gotta be you too, right? They gotta understand that."
She looks away, back towards the beach and- "Eh, I can't see it coming up even. The MUSES are all anyone is talking about right now? And sure I liked the show, but they're only about one step up from someone pulling out a recorder as back up..."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Mm. Yeah, that's good," Lisa agrees. But her reflection... "I... know what you mean<" she says.
"Right? It's all ego! His dye soaked through his skull and made him stupid!"
But 'ouch'. "See, that's what I say, but... Some people still act like that. It's not my fault my parents are from overseas; I've been here since before I was born." That is, her mother was a citizen already when she had her.
But how people see it... Hmm. "What? Rude." To say Yukari wasn't raised right. "You're super cool."
But Lisa doesn't know that story, and may or may not soon. "My parents tried to raise me 'traditional', but they don't understand modern Japanese girls at all."
She has to be her...
"That's a nice thing to say. But I don't know. They seem really happy..."
But Yukari mentions them, and Lisa snorts a laugh. "Ahahah. A recorder! Right?"
"OK, I guess that's true. ...Thanks."
"I do feel a little better."
<Pose Tracker> Yukari Takeba has posed.
"For real. Who would ever think that that kind of dye job was a good idea in the first place even before it soaked in?"
There, she can at least bandwagon with her on this, for a mutual target. Girl solidarity against guys is always an easy place to hit.
"You think? Well- I'm glad you see it that way. A lot of people think I have a bad attitude."
She shrugs her exposed shoulders, like 'what can you do?'
"Oh yuck. Really? That's the worst. I had family that tried to do the same for me- like you know, my Aunt and Grandma in Kyoto. I could never do a single thing right in their eyes. They kept acting like they were doing me some favor."
Perhaps that's the shared place, being a modern girl in Japan, united against stupid traditions. She'd ordinarily hesitate against someone from overseas, but Lisa isn't from overseas even! She was born here!
"Well... just something to keep in mind right? I'm not saying you have to buck everything. Just, you don't have to be some perfect good girl either just to keep them happy..."
At least she gets a laugh, "Yeah exactly!" Thankfully, it hits home, and she smiles, "Good. Well rather than go somewhere warm, wanna get something warm? I think I saw a stand selling roasted chestnuts on my way here..."
<Pose Tracker> Lisa Silverman has posed.
"Haime! Seriously!"
She smiles back. "I do. I mean, people say a bad attitude, but I see a girl who doesn't let herself get walked on."
What can you do?
"Ohhh, yeah. Like, you know, I actually know how to do tea ceremony? But it's sooooo boring." And Lisa is from here! She was born here and everything!
"Mm... OK. I'll try to think about it, then. I don't think I could manage a perfect good girl anyway. There's already a lot of stuff I'm having to hide..."
She smiles back. "Cool. Yeah, let's do that. Roasted anything sounds great right now. Brr!"
