  • Content warning: Implied abuse. Note that unlike the associated logs, this one is on the whole lighter and more focused on the new robot girl.

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

A message appears on Miho's phone, a few hours after Yua left for that party.

        > Please be home. Something bad happened. The girl didn't do anything. She's like me. She needs help

And then, a few agonising moments later:

        > It's not Kimi-san's fault

And a few moments after that,

        > He tried to stop me

        It's a grim introduction.

But when the door opens, Yua -- sounds much like herself, when she says, "I'm home." Perhaps a little distant, a little tired; but that's not so abnormal, after performing as Kimitake's wife.

Except... there's bruising, beneath her choker, at her arm. Her clothing is dishevelled, as if she grabbed her tastefully festive orange and black dress from the floor instead of their walk-in wardrobe. Her fancy cat ears, a rich woman's concession to a halloween party, are missing. Her makeup is a mess.

        Oh, and Para-Mind's here.

        That's weird, too.

"Yo," he says, and as he steps in -- WITHOUT TAKING HIS SHOES OFF! -- as he hauls some equipment in. "Where I stowin' this shit?"

"Just -- just a moment," Yua smiles, to him, as another girl appears behind him. She's taller than Yua, but still much shorter than Miho, at a whopping 5'4"; her skin is a touch too yellowed to feel right, and her eyes are piercing red, with a strange black band in the middle of that colour. Her hair is green, but much brighter than Miho's -- more a cheerful teal! -- and she looks incredibly pissed off.

But apparently, that's just her normal face. And so is the way that when she grins, it's all teeth. (Don't worry: she has the correct amount of teeth.) "Yo!" She waves, as she ambles in.

She is dressed in not much at all -- is that a leotard? -- and her feet end in claws.

"This is Tyrrha," Yua introduces her, to Miho, resting a hand at her shoulder. "I'm to be her mother from now on. Tykko, this is Miho Ijuuin," she adds, gently, looking to her. "Like I said, she's your other mother...!"

"Whoa," Tyrrha says, as she looks up, and up, and up. "You ain't told me how Mimama that built."

Yua giggles, as if everything is normal, fingers veiling her lips. "Tykko! Don't be rude!"

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho gets the message.

Miho is festively dressed in black and orange with skeleton pin and earrings. And she says to those around her, "Excuse me. I must go."

That's that! Bye bye, office!

...But it's not Kimitake's fault.

Miho is there, waiting for Yua, when she arrives. Her expression is severe; her attention is on the door first. She sees Yua immediately--and frowns sharply, to see the bruising, the dishevelment, the exhaustion.

"Para-Mind," Miho says distantly, instructing, "Shoes."

That's pretty weird, but it's not that important. The equipment...

It can wait a moment. As Yua smiles, but then that girl shows up. That... strange, unusual girl.

"Hello, Tyrrha," Miho says first. Yua is her mother and... Miho is her... other... mother?

"Rely on me," Miho says, because she's going with it apparently, though she gives Yua a look with a raised eyebrow before she looks back to Tyrrha.

"I am an Olympic athlete," Miho explains. "I exercise more than most people. ...Welcome to our home."

She has so many questions. SO many. But the first is, "Yua. ...I will allow Para-Mind to take the equipment to the spare room." They have another, after all. "...Then I believe we should... speak."

"And you as well, Tyrrha-san."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

Yua asked for Miho to be here, and so, here she is. For all the haunted distance in her eye, she is relieved, to see that.

Para-Mind, meanwhile, says "UGHHHHH," and marches back around to the entryway to take his shoes off. It's fine, that's normal, he's like that, he was absolutely a drama tech as a kid. Anyway --

"Ooooh," Tyrrha snaps her fingers, as Miho explains just why she's a giant. "Sweet! Up top!" Except, of course, when Tyrrha high-fives Miho, there's something she's going to notice immediately:

That was not flesh. There was no give; it was too strong.

And look a little more closely at her, and...

        ... is she...

        ... human?

Rather than dwelling on those questions, Yua smiles, to Miho. "I'll get her set up," she assures her, because they do assuredly have many spare rooms; they're in a luxury penthouse, it's a six-bedroom home. Even with Tomoki having commandeered one, and another having been stripped down to make the nursery, there's still more than enough room for someone new.

"She's intense, huh?" Tyrrha can be heard, asking, as they head down the hall.

"Lmao," Para-Mind comments, something deeply expensive slung precariously over his shoulder, behind her.

And there's a few moments of silence, as they're gone.

        Enough silence...

        For Miho...

To realise something else has walked in the door.

"Rah," a mechanical voice says, its little clawed arms wriggling, as one of those technological toys children enjoy looks up at her. Somewhere between a velociraptor, a lion, and an armadillo, it's roughly the size of a large chicken, and for some reason it's moving independently of its remote control joypad.

"Rarrr," it adds, opening its little mouth to reveal dozens of needly teeth, as if smiling.

        Why is it here.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho is here. And she does give the high-five her new daughter has requested.

"...Hm," she reflects on the utter lack of flesh. No, she... is not human. Miho is quite sure of that.

But Yua says she'll get her set up. That's good.

Para-Mind only gets an approving nod when he comes back without shoes.

A few moments of silence happen, and Miho is quiet. She considers.

Then--

...Rah.

Miho peers down at the thing.

"..."

Miho frowns. Then she looks down, tilting her head. "Hm..."

She kneels down, and pats it on the head. "Rar indeed," Miho says. "Rar, indeed..."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

That weird little contraption wags its tail, when Miho kneels down to pat it. "Raa!"

And so, when Yua and Tyrrha leave Para-Mind to his work and return to the loungeroom...

... there it sits, in the limitations of his design, upon Miho's lap.

        "Raaah."

"Oi, Welwetes!" Tyrrha grins, recognising him at once -- for indeed she can tell them that the robot contraption is not an it. "You made it!"

Yua looks at Welwetes... and looks back to Miho... and giggles, again. "I didn't realise that was a cat...?"

"Eh, he's like, one-thirds cat," Tyrrha shrugs, hands folding behind her head. "Close enough."

Yua smiles, and gestures, to the empty lounge; she can intuit the purpose of sitting down, after all. "Let's take a seat," she suggests, and sits beside her, holding her hand, as she returns her attention to Miho.

"Tyrrha was being held at... at the Institute," Yua says, and there's just a little hesitation in her presentation, a wavering to her voice, which suggests the weight of that place. "They said she was to... ah, well, has anyone told you why they placed you with me, dear?" She interrupts herself, to turn her attention back to Tyrrha, with concern.

"Uhhh..." Tyrrha pauses, looking up. "I... dunno? I don't remember a lot... but I knew I had to find you! And the boss said I was lookin' out for ya from now on!"

"Ah..." Yua pauses, her brow creasing. "That is... they... they meant for you to aid me in combat operations, Tykko. Since I'm pregnant, I mustn't get into fights as I used to... I'm sure that's why." She doesn't sound completely sure, but it goes over Tyrrha's head, cheerfully.

"Ohhhh!" She lights up. "Well, why didn't ya say so! That's easy! I'm a bona-fide Series K, version six, mama! I'm packin' twice the punch of the average human, and I have a Persona, to boot! Plus, Welwetes here serves as my weapons array! Y'know, since they couldn't really install one on me..."

Yua watches all this, her expression growing a touch blank, for a moment. When she remembers to put a smile on her face, again, it's uneasy. "Um... so... you really are... a robot?" She asks, plus the question marks around her portrait.

        "Uh-huh," Tyrrha grins, in reply.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho accepts this. She will pet the robot contraption.

Welwetes is his name! "Cat-like," Miho agrees. But she is seated, and Yua begins to explain; well, she sort of explains. It wavers a bit.

"I see. So, the Institute..."

"A weapons array," Miho comments. "Yes, that makes sense."

But Yua seems... blank. And there is the matter of--

Well.

Miho is calm, but has ceased to pet the little mecha friend. She looks between the two of them. "I see. Well, we'll take care of you. ...That is a worthy reason to fight."

She has a feeling there's more to it, but... She'd rather see Tyrrha with them than at the Institute...

"If you are a robot," Miho says, and seems to accept this premise, "Then what are your needs? Do you eat?"

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

Welwetes is the cutest weapons array one ever did see. He's okay with sitting quietly in Miho's lap even after she stops petting him, though. Miho is a true cat whisperer... is that why Yua was sporting the ears?

(Well, she is a neko --)

"I gotta charge up each night," Tyrrha says, "so that's what my dandy man's settin' up back there. If I get hurt, I'm thinkin' auto shop, not hospital... but Para-Mind said he'd come 'round if I got banged up." Which at least means she wouldn't need to go there for repairs. "I can totally eat, though," she adds, flashing her correct number of teeth in a grin. "It'd be weird if I didn't eat. Hey, is it true that up here you can, like, catch animals and eat them instead of just gettin' meat blobs? I really wanna figure out how you get to meat blobs."

Yua's sprite acquires several more question marks and an increasing look of concern. "Er -- that is -- you, you can, but -- but we live in the city, Tykko, um... I-I can show you how to gut and scale a fish?"

"Whaaat? There's only fish in cities?" Tyrrha tilts her head. "C'mon, mama, you can't have looked too hard! I saw a bunch of dogs drivin' in!"

"Oh, no no no!" Yua yelps, waving her hands. "T-those are pets, Tyrrha! We don't hunt and eat pets! That isn't where food comes from at all!"

"What's a pet?" Tyrrha wonders, sounding honestly baffled, as Yua shoots Miho a look of distress.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Charging up... Hm. "I see. Well, if he can repair you when it is needed, then that is fine." But she can eat. That's good to note. It would be weird, wouldn't it? "..."

Yua is concerned, but Tyrrha is undeterred, and Miho actually laughs softly.

"You may only hunt and kill animals in designated areas on the surface; you require a license. This is because we must maintain the populations and ecosystems over which we have charge."

"'Pets' are animals kept for companionship, separate from animals kept for work; you may eat neither."

"However, there are animals bred for food; their meat may be purchased at stores and shops. These are those whose meat you will be eating."

"...It is generally more acceptable to hunt fish, but still does have some regulation."

Ah. So it's going to be like this. Miho can handle that.

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

"Ohhhhh," Tyrrha says, accepting Miho's explanation quite easily. "So... can I have a licence?"

Yua laughs, nervously. "Tykko, you need to be eighteen... I think you're still a little too young."

"Awwww, man," she pouts. "I wanted to see if it was true how they were made in layers. Like, the fur and skin layer, then the meat layer, then the bones layer, then the guts layer... I bet they were all super tasty, too."

"W-well... I'll take you fishing, okay?" Yua says, placing a hand at Tyrrha's shoulder. "We can catch fish! And -- and fillet them! So you can still learn all about it, don't be sad!"

"You mean it?" Tyrrha brightens up, at once. "Great!"

"But you mustn't eat anyone's pets," Yua adds, sternly. "If you're not sure if it's a pet, you have to ask first, okay? We have a pet, he's called Tiger, and I want you to treat him gently! He's very important to us!"

"Whoa," Tyrrha looks impressed. "You guys have a Tiger?"

"N--no, his name is Tiger, um..." Yua's lost again.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"We'll see," Miho says of a license, "In time." She is pretty young for that. ...And maybe it's a bad idea. But maybe not!

"That is true," Miho says. "Most living beings beyond a certain complexity have many layers, though they intertwine in humans and most animals rather than simply operating like... say, an onion's layers."

Onions have layers.

"Yua will be able to show you. It will be educational."

Pause. "They are not all tasty. It varies."

But no eating pets... "His name is Tiger; he is actually a very large domestic cat. Be gentle with him; with your strength, you would be capable of doing harm to him, and that would be unacceptable."

"You should assume in general that living things are delicate and to be handled with care if at all."

She considers. What else...

"But I would be glad to aid in your education otherwise. There are books on the various musculoskeletal systems of animals; would you like to read them?"

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

"Onions have layers?" Tyrrha wonders. "Neat. Can I kill an onion and take that apart?"

"Er --" Yua starts, and pauses. "We usually cook them, first, but... you're welcome to try! W-we can grow some, okay? We have a whole big garden!" She pauses, and adds: "But please don't eat any of the plants in the greenhouse. They might make you sick... I think."

"Sure, sure," Tyrrha nods. "But what's a greenhouse?"

"It's a muggy little house where plants live!" Yua answers, and that time, she doesn't miss a beat.

D... does that mean she just naturally thinks of greenhouses as muggy little houses where plants live, or...

But when Miho explains that Tiger is delicate, Tyrrha snaps her fingers in realisation, looking to Yua. "Ohhh! I get it! That's why you yelped when I held onto your hand!"

"Um... yes," Yua smiles, a touch uneasy. "I'm delicate, too."

"Whoops," Tyrrha grins, and she does, at least, seem entirely good-natured about it. "Sorry 'bout that."

"It's all right," Yua assures her. "What matters is that you loosened up when I told you it was too tight."

"Cool, cool," Tyrrha looks back to Miho. "But hey, what's a book?"

        HOW OLD IS SHE

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

"You may," Miho confirms for Tyrrha. "Most plants out in the city belong to someone else, but as Yua says, we can grow them for you. ...or just have some bought." Have them bought. Because Miho's not going grocery shopping.

"Some of the plants in the greenhouse I keep specifically because of personal interest; they are poisonous to humans and many other animals. Whether or not they are dangerous to you, I would prefer they remain unchewed."

But--Miho lifts an eyebrow. "Yes, Yua is delicate," Miho agrees. "So long as you learned your lesson."

"..." She pauses, looks at Yua, and then looks back at Tyrrha. "I could tell you... but it would be simpler to show you, later. They contain printed forms of knowledge. Those on the shelf across the room; the ones with titles on the side. Those are books."

She can't get up because she has a ~~cat~~ in her lap.

"...What is most important is that both of us protect Yua," she says. "But I can tell you intend to be careful in the future."

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

"Ohhhh," Tyrrha says. "So... if they belong to other people, does that mean I can't kill the plants, either?"

"T-that's right," Yua confirms, still apparently uneasy. "And please don't go killing my plants without permission... I work hard on them!"

"Right, right..." Tyrrha accepts the rules easily enough, at least, even if she apparently wasn't taught any of them.

Or, apparently, what books are, which really raises questions about what's going on in Project Hemitheoi. "Ohhhhh," Tyrrha says, as she looks over to the shelf -- and there's a quiet little whirrrr, as the outer and inner halves of her iris spin independently of each other, as she zoom and enhances right then and there. "'Forging Techniques of Ancient Japan', 'Romantic Painters', 'The Sengoku Period: From the Onin War to the March to Kyoto?', 'A Comprehensive Encyclopedia of European Foils, Fifth Edition'... neat!"

(Yua doesn't have the heart to tell her that they're all incredibly dry reading.)

"She didn't mean to," Yua excuses Tyrrha, instead. "I think... she just wasn't taught about a lot of things."

"It's super the most important," Tyrrha agrees. "To the max! I'm here to keep her safe, y'know? It's weird, but I know for sure that's really important to me! We're connected, yeah! Oh, but I guess that makes sense," she adds, tapping at her lip. "Y'know, she's my mom. Not that I remember how she's my mom... but it's cool! You probably taught me all this stuff already and I just plum forgot!"

Well, that explains the cover story...

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Yua seems uneasy, and that's fair. They've been given a robot daughter. But Miho is... sort of attuned, to the idea of rolling with things that ought to be nonsense. It just is what it is.

She will have... questions, for Yua later, as to how this came about. But not in front of robot daughter.

Zoom. Enhance!

"That's understandable," Miho says. "And perhaps so. We shall remind you, then." But it's weird... Weird, but very important?

Hmm.

"I see. There are many things we can work out later, I think. But for now..."

"Do you have any questions for me?"

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

To be fair, it's not entirely the robot daughter unsettling Yua, though...

Look, Yua's autistic, but even she's taken aback by needing this stuff explicitly explained.

"Thanks!" Tyrrha grins, though, and she's charming enough (even if her face would frighten a small child) that Yua really can't be that concerned.

"We'll protect you from now on," Yua promises. "Even if it's a fight, I won't just abandon you out there... it would be fine if I hid somewhere nearby to help her, wouldn't it?" She asks, looking to Miho.

Meanwhile, Tyrrha's thinking over her questions for Miho. "Hmmm..." Tyrrha taps a finger to her lip, thoughtfully. "Oh, I've got one! If I work out like you, am I gonna become a six foot stunner, too?"

"..." Yua says. Her mouth opens. Her mouth closes. And then she veils her lips, again, to veil her giggling: "Eheheheh..."

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Miho is clearly not a small child, because she is not frightened!

Well, also she's a six foot adult.

"It would be fine if you stayed away from the front lines," Miho agrees. "To give support elsewhere."

But Tyrrha has a think, and...

Miho looks thoughtful. "Usually one cannot add to one's height by working out."

"And in your case, I am unsure whether or not it would give you further bulk."

"However," she says, "The confidence that comes of taking care of one's body will assuredly make you the 'stunner' you wish to be."

What, Yua?? What???

<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.

        Elsewhere, then, is okay.

But as far as that question, Yua's not saying anything!! She's just giggling!!! And even more as Miho quite seriously explains the situation, because Tyrrha, in turn, gravely regards this new information, folding her arms and nodding.

"Right, right... so it's about mental fortitude! Okay, that settles it! I'm stealin' Mimama's routine!" Even the ninety-kilo weightlifting? ... even the ninety-kilo weightlifting. "Okay, what else am I doin'?"

"Getting enough sleep!" Yua suggests, encouragingly. "It's very important for your body! Speaking of that..." She tilts her head, looking to Miho. "Should we go see how Para-Mind is doing? If we leave him unattended too long, he'll steal the nice cutlery again..."

How is he going to manage that when he's on the other side of the house?

        He's really good, that's how.

<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.

Yua is good at giggling! "Excellent," Miho says. "Feel free to take time to build up to it, if you need... or not, if you don't." She really isn't sure. Does Tyrrha come with a manual??? ...Would it be useful if she did? Probably not.

Sleep is important too. "Yes," Miho agrees then, with a sense of foreboding.

"Last time I decided I didn't even want them back..."

She rises, letting Welwetes find his own place.

"Let's go."
