(|============================= Iwatodai Station =============================|)
-================================================== Iwatodai City/Iwatodai ====-
The intersection of high speed rail along the coast of Tokyo and Tatsumi Port
Island's monorail line from the mainland across the sea to its artificial
island, Iwatodai Station is the cornerstone of daily life to the inhabitants of
this place. Even the most jaded salaryman could get lost in the experience of
looking out upon the glittering sea as they ride across it to their daily life.
A multi-story strip mall across the street from the station offers students such
selections as Wakatsu for sushi high in omega-3s to increase that brain power,
Hagakure Ramen with all the collagen you could desire for skin care, or even
Wilduck's infamous Mystery Burger for those who desire an impromptu test of
courage. Net cafes selling some of the latest releases and hole-in-the-wall
bookstores give people endless options of what to do with their evening.
With this blend of local flavor and modern convenience, Iwatodai Station truly
is the ideal option to stop by whether you're coming or going home.

<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
Ririka's kind of been keeping to herself for a bit, though... she's slowly started being less reclusive. Sadly, having an ordeal where she traipsed all the way to freaking Inaba and then back again, not to mention fighting a horrifying new incarnation of the Joker Killer--a scant 3 days ago--has set her back a bit.
But sh's not moping in her room, at least. She's moping on the roof of the dorm, instead. She's sitting cross-legged on the ground with her back to a planter box, with a clear view of the city, a guitar on her lap, and a sheat of sheet music next to her. And she's dressed in jeans and a flannel shirt for a bit of extra warmth against the chill, but it's otherwise a clear night.
The amount of studious music practice coming from her room seemed to die off for a bit, but she's got some practice underway now, idly strumming and practicing various melody lines, and occasionally notating things on her sheet music.
All in all, though, she's not hard to find.
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
Moriko herself hasn't been moping. She's been channeling that into both a bit of investigative work on the side and mostly just incorporating things into her work. She's a scifi fan with tinges of horror, it probably isn't too surprising and acts a a surprisingly useful outlet.
That does mean her window's open despite the cold air because otherwise the room gets that mix of glue, ink, paint and spray fumes.
The music gets a curious tilt of her head when the songs switch from one to another. Then she pushes her chair out. Finds her winter coat and... takes some time finding her long skirt and stockings. She might be a bit of a homebody at the moment, but not that bad. Climbing to the roof, she glances around for a moment, then stuffs her hands into her pockets and watches Ririka.
At least Ririka knows that Moriko's scowl isn't intentional. Probably.
<Pose Tracker> Koh Katsuhiro has posed.
Despite not having any particular skill at it, Koh does his part to keep the plants watered when it's his turn on the schedule. That's his usual reason for coming out to the roof, and why he's carrying a jug full of water.
He is also not moping, but it does look like he also might not be sleeping. His eyes look noticeably droopy, and he lets out a long yawn to announce is presence.
That other people are out here is something that takes a second to parse, even with the music. After a brief lag he raises a hand to make a motion of greeting toward the two girls on top of the dorm.
"Hey," He greets with a smile. "Kawase-san, Kumamoto-san. What're you working on?" That question is mostly for Ririka, even if it's obvious.
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
Ririka's not playing full songs so much as experimenting. There's lots of starts and stops. She's got her guitar in a non-standard tuning, for those with an ear for music, and a lot of what she's experimenting with seems to be running along a more rough and rugged vibe, with aggressive, driving beats.
There is a bob of her head that might(?) be a reaction to Koh's greeting, though she keeps playing for a few moments longer before trailing to a stop. She hurriedly writes something down, then looks over her shoulder. "Oh, hey, Kumamoto-chan, hey, Katsuhiro-san. How are you guys?"
Her fingers are still tapping out a melody on the body of the guitar, even if she's not playing the instrument itself. She's looked tired for a while now, ever since she fainted, and the first a few days ago isn't helping. "Oh, I'm... working on some stuff for Polychord. Kind of got this whole concept I'm trying to develop. What brings you both up here?"
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
Rolling her shoulders, Moriko raises her hand and turns to give Koh a full blast of her usual fox-faced look. Complete with an almost sinister looking smile. Still wholly unintentional. Oh well! "Yo." She replies, "Carpal tunnel" That answer was for both and was clearly a oke. Probably.
Moriko's ear for music extends as far as what she likes. She might recognize things, but has zero ability to comment on it in a way that would make sense to anyone in the slightest.
"Awake!" She replies to Ririka, "Was doing work on things. All grim and spooky." The word spooky is emphasized with spooky finger waggling.
"What kind of concept?" That's not a bad start at least, "I heard the music and needed a break from the fumes"
<Pose Tracker> Koh Katsuhiro has posed.
Koh considers Moriko's answer, his smile unfaltering. "Is that a bike thing?" He asks, happy to play along.
"I couldn't sleep, and then I remember I was supposed to water the plants." The boy explains as he sets to doing that, filling a little watering can and sprinkling the patches of vegetables pushing up from the soil.
When he's finished he presses the cool can to his forehead, the remaining water sloshing around with the motion.
"Yeah," He adds, echoing Moriko after a second, "What's it about?"
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
"Carpal tunnel? Are... you oaky?" Ririka asks, with a small frown of concern. She looks to Koh next. "Oh, sorry. I... hope my music wasn't keeping you up? I can take it back to my room, I just... wanted some fresh air, you know? It's a nice night out..."
But they're both interested in her concept album and Ririka considers for a moment. "WEllll... it's not finished, but... if you guys promise not to tell anyone, I can talk a little about it."
Now that she's having a proper conversation she gathers up her paper and carefully gets up so she can turn to face them more fully. "So, did either of you play this game called Sanctuary? Came out last year, has this really cool soundtrack?" She does a quick pickup into the guitar part of a song.

"Anyway, the main idea is just like... going out and looking for something. Trying to find your way in a world just... isn't the same way it used to be."
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
Moriko holds her hands up, turning them this way and that. "It's a joke. A joke!" She looks to Ririka, "You've known me long enough." Before crossing her arms with a mock huff. "Really though ,it's why I have a wrist brace if I'm doing all day and nighters."
"No the bike thing's a high side and questionable rehab." There's a bit of a grin. There's a faint grimace and she mutters mostly to herself, "Probably shouldn't joke abotu that."
An eyebrow goes up and she asks, "Do they need watering in the winter?" She doesn't know actually. Maybe her mom had done it back home.
"I keep secrets pretty well." She notes, "Haven't blabbed about anything that isn't supposed to go out."
She's pretty sure at least.
"It was pretty fun." She notes, though doesn't go further than that. "Was a good soundtrack though."
<Pose Tracker> Koh Katsuhiro has posed.
"I don't know, it probably can't hurt them." Koh decides, taking a sidelong glance at the planters before setting the can down. He presses fingers to his temple, taking a breath before slumping against the nearby wall.
"I haven't played that many games," He offers apologetically. "Mostly just stuff at the arcade. I guess I could use the dorm computer, but Arasato-san's always putting in new software in there"
"That sounds cool, though. This is a pretty good place to get material."
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
Ririka blnks a little as Moriko clarifies that it's a joke.. "Oh, okay. Sorry, I've just..." She sighs and shakes her head. "I guess I'm just out of it."
"I mean, if it doesn't rain we still need to water the, right...? They're still alive..."
She watches Koh slump and frowns a little more. "Are you okay, Katsuhiro-san...? We can take this inside, if that's better for you.."
"I don't get to play as many games as I'd like, but... Once I heard the soundtrack I had to get it. I, uh..." Ririka laughs a little, self-effacingly. "... might have more soundtracks than games I've played. I can lend you my copy if you want to listen."
"But thanks, I'm glad you guys like it. I'm still, like...developing it, but... it might be a show or an album that has, like, a story the whole way through. I'm trying to broaden what our band can do."
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
Moriko walks over and winds up and.. only lightly slaps Ririka's back and says, "It's fine. Don't worry about me." She smiles wryly, "I do enough stupid things that it'd wear you out too fast." She glances up at the sky at the mention of rain, "They are, but they're adapted for freezing weather and all that right?" She's pretty sure that's how it works out at least.
With Koh slumping, she turns to face him instead, "Could go kick up a movie and relax or something maybe?" She's not sure what else might help with the whole.. everything? There's a mental shrug.
"I had a lot of fun playing it. We get going in some of the circles I'm in because we're all prone to trying to make things." Notably doujin games that may or may not borrow mechanics.
Resting back on her heels she does add to Koh, "Anything good at the arcade that's new? Haven't been as much as I wanted."
<Pose Tracker> Koh Katsuhiro has posed.
Koh waves a hand apologetically at the other students concern. "It's fine, just, headache. It happens sometimes. It's not that bad." He lets out another yawn, covering his mouth with a palm.
He considers Ririka's explanation and smiles. "It's good to branch out. I mean, what band doesn't change over time? It'd get boring to just do the same stuff."
He ticks off fingers, "Let's seethere's a new drum game. It's like the old one, but I guess new songs. AaandEvening Racing 4. With the car you sit in, not as fun."
He mimes tapping on a drum, laughing briefly. "You know about computers too, Kumamoto-san? Everyone around here seems like they're making something..."
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
Ririka blinks at the slap on the back. "Carpal tunnel's serious, though, I have to e careful with my hands, you know...?"
(One might ask, 'Ririka then why do you go skateboarding?' Sssh, don't worry about it.)
"I don't think all plants go dormant, though... I bet we could ask Yamagishi-san, she'd probably know."
Ririka looks at Koh with concern. "Well... if you're certain..." But then she nods. "Yeah, and... we started with a bunch of covers, and I'm proud of those, but... well, I wanna try new stuff. Push what we can do. Try new genres. And, well... tell stories."
She starts to play, idly, riffing on something with a complicated time signature.
"Oh that drum game has some catchy songs on it. Haven't tried it, though."
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
Moriko nods and rubs her chin, "I might have some stuff for a headache." Though she has to think on it for a moment. Is it in her bike bag or...
"Drums like hers-" She hooks a thumb towards Ririka, "Or Drums like Taiko?" She frowns, "I know I've seen both." Shifting foot to foot. "Speaking of the old school things, you two are invited too. Suzuki wanted to... Suzuki-san." She decides to emphasize rather than confuse matters with the idea she's talking to bikes maybe, "Wanted to get away and asked if we had space in Osaka at the inn and.. honestly it's a fun idea of inviting everyone else." She holds her hands up, "And I thought it would help family out. Which is a lot to say, 'Want to come to a classical style inn in Osaka over the break?"
She had put notices up about this sort of thing.
"It is, but you shouldn't take me seriously when I'm joking about things." Which is probably going to confuse Ririka with how oblivious Moriko can get.
"Covers are fun." She suggests, "Bunch of big bands covered the one.. British metal band?" She frowns. "Guy wears a cavalry hat and sunglasses a lot."
<Pose Tracker> Koh Katsuhiro has posed.
Koh nods. "That makes sense. Experimenting is fun." Koh offers another bright smile of approval for Ririka's efforts.
"Taiko, yeah. With the cute drum guy." He's referring to the mascot drum. "I'd be less good at it if I had to more deal drums." A somber nod.
"Anyway, I appreciate it, but I've got some medicine. But a trip sounds cool, I'd love to. I haven't been to a traditional place in a while." He stretches, then covers his mouth again. "I'm gonna try laying down again. I'll catch you both later." A brief raise of hand is made, and then he's ducking back toward the door.
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
"Hey, I don't play drums-- Well, okay, I play drums on that one song, but that's because it's Hiro-kin's dad's song, so he wanted to play his dad's part."
Ririka starts to say something to Moriko's invitation and then catches herself. "Oh-- Um... maybe? It'd depend on the dates, I was hoping to make some plans, and... I'll at least think about it!"
She sighs. "Yeah, but I didn't realize you were joking. I just said that."
"They are, and and that's how we got started, but I don't want to just do covers."
"But thanks, Katsuhiro-san! I'll let you guys know when we do a show or release an album or something." She nods when Koh takes his leave. "I hope you feel better."
She stoops down to slip her guitar into its case and pick up her papers. To Moriko she says, "I think I've had enough fresh air, so I'm gonna head inside. But text me the details and I'll see if I can make it. Have a good night!"
<Pose Tracker> Moriko Kumamoto has posed.
A hand goes up to Koh as he leaves, then she looks to Ririka, "Not even the Taiko?" She grins, "Even I can play those." She raises her arms like she's getting ready, but doesn't make any noise... like she clearly wants to. It's late after all.
"I can send the info over. I won't lie, kinda thought it might fly as a team exercise. Figure Aomori's mom might vouch for 'team building' and I can do something nice for mom." She snorts. It's a bit of a cheat, but...
"I know I know, but you said it was a serious matter after." She sticks her tongue out after!
Watching her, she tilts her head briefly, half wondering if she scared the other girl off, but offering her a wave, "Hope you get some rest. Should swing by at some point on a break. Maybe we can collaborate on the album idea with some art or something."
<Pose Tracker> Ririka Kawase has posed.
Ririk shrugs. "Video games are where I get to do something other than music for a bit." That doesn't stop her from playing the music-based Master Koto in Night Parade, though. "Still listen to the music."
"I'll see if I can manage it, but I need to fit it around my other plans... send me the dates, though."
Ririka starts heading down the stairs. She's just been up here for a while, and since her flow state is was interrupted, it's a good time to shift gears. "Thanks, Kumaoto-san. And, I'll see. It'll be a bit before we have all the songs ready."
