- Summary: Hana and Producer Matsumoto have one last chat.
The man at the table smiles when Hana approaches. It is not a warm expression. His pressed suit is black, his tie green, but unlike the Producer of Hana's Kingdom, he is an ordinary color for a human. His face is the same, though--that same self-assured calm, the calm that she once thought was the sign of a confident man.
Hana takes a seat. She's in pink, unapologetically wearing a nice dress appropriate to the restaurant they're in; he looks her over and rolls his eyes.
"So you insist on this... play," Daiki Matsumoto says. "Very well. I guess that means, since you're meeting me, that you've decided to give in. It's for the best; there's no way you can have much career like /that/, anyway. In fact, I might be able to arrange something else..."
Hana--shorter than Daiki, especailly now that they're seated--smiles. "That won't be necessary." A beat, as she waits for that to sink in.
"...Very well. So long as you go away." He frowns, but he stays composed.
"You misunderstand," Hana tells him pleasantly. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm not accepting your terms, and I'm not walking away from my career. I'll continue in television, and as 'Hana', and you're not going to do anything about it."
"What?" Daiki scowls. "I don't know what you're thinking, but with what I have--"
"You have nothing," Hana says, leaning forward slightly and narrowing her eyes. "You have some dirt that you already made irrelevant, by spreading rumors about me to the press. My audience knows full well what I am, and what my history is like. Thanks to you. You, on the other hand... I wonder how many labor laws you violated when you fired me? While I was in the hospital?"
"Huh?" Daiki blinks. "W-well--I mean, i had the right to decide who was on staff--"
"Did you, though? Didn't I have rights? ...Rights that I didn't bother to enforce, because I was so overwhelmed? ...Face it, Matsumoto-san. You have nothing. And if you don't want /me/ to raise a stink about it, you'll leave me be."
"You can't--" Daiki Matsumuto reddens with anger--impotent anger. "I'll ruin you! I'll--"
People turn to start looking at him--but Hana just smiles. It is not a warm expression. "No, you won't," she says. "...Goodbye, Matsumoto-san." Hana pauses. "...I don't think I'll have to think about you at all, after this."
Rising from her seat, Hana pushes the chair back in--and moves to walk away.
The scene that Matsumoto almost causes is no longer her problem.
