(|=============================== Aoba - Main ================================|)
-=================================================== Sumaru City/Aoba Ward ====-
To Sumaru's east is Aoba Ward, where fashion and commerce abound. The city's
fire department headquarters is based here too. Ample shopping can be found at
the stores that dot Aoba Way. Past it, Aoba Park is a popular place to walk
around and relax, especially since there's an outdoor concert hall located
deeper within where one might catch a live concert.
Various programs are filmed at Sumaru TV, where famous stars like veteran
actress Junko Kurosu, talk show host Hidehiko "Brown" Uesugi, and popular model
Eriko "Elly" Kirishima might be spotted. Along the way, one will pass Kismet
Publishing, where popular publications like hot teen magazine Coolest are made.

Yua has been... relatively stable, for the half a week it's been since her last crash. The doctors liken it to stoppering holes on a leaky liferaft; they never know when or where the next leak will spring, so they just have to hope what they're doing is helping to fix the boat. Provisionally, they're calling it a 'systematic endocrine disorder with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome'; what they can tell is that her endocrine system is wildly deregulated, and in the wake of her serious condition, it's impacted several of her internal organs.
Indeed, they say, that damage would have been occurring regardless of whether she'd had her brush with death... but losing so much blood truly underlined her vulnerability.
... unfortunately, it's not safe for Miho to tell them what they're missing, and that means the nurses of the ward simply have the idea that Yua is an intravenous drug user with enough wealth to make the manager give her a pass. Why else would she have her own medication which they're not allowed to ask about...?
Yua's been sending Miho updates on her welfare, too, but since they mostly consist of 'Yua ok!!!! <3' there's not terribly much can be gleaned from them.
Yua is okay, though, when Miho comes in to see her after work... though she's having a lot of pain, so Hiroki goes straight to Miho, this time. (And Miho surely knows, already, that this means no perfume.) He's been fed, so all the associations are in place; at thirty weeks old as of today, he's still a month out from his feeding coordination being good enough to feed independently, but he's working on it.
And Yua... is at least sitting up in bed. (She was in her chair earlier. The nurse even said so!) They bring in pain medication -- the kind where they have stricter rules for bringing it to her -- and that at least seems to help, as she sighs and sinks down into her pillows when they leave.
"It's okay, chimbin," she assures Hiroki, gently, in Okinawan, "chimu wasa wasa? Anmaa urihya! Mama and mother are right here with you!" She's slipping between Okinawan and Japanese quite often, when she speaks to him -- and deliberately.
(Miho can probably tell that she's using quite simple language to ask if he's feeling uneasy and to assure him his mothers are keeping an eye on things.)
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
Miho appreciates that relative stability, considering that she was here for the crash in question. She does not tolerate gossip on what could be bothering Yua, though--
There was already one nurse who made the mistake of commenting in front of Miho who was dismissed from her care. ...if she's lucky, she still has a job at all. Yua OK though...
Yua OK. Indeed.
But now, Miho is holding Hiroki with consistent pressure, as she has been taught. She cannot help but be cheered by him; even as tiny and fragile as he is, he is theirs, and he is alive.
Miho attempts to give Yua a smile, and succeeds after a moment. "You're doing well, Yua," she says. "I'm sure he'll come to be comfortable with both languages, as he grows."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
The manager, as it happens, plays shogi with Juuzou in their meet every first Sunday of the month... so mysteriously, that nurse will soon stop showing up to work at all.
(She should really be working on getting a husband at her age, anyway.)
Yua, as it happens, doesn't really understand anything about old money prid-pro-quo; she doesn't know how Miho handles that woman, only that she does, and so she was sunnily grateful that the awful woman wasn't staring at her through the window any more.
And now --
"Mm, mm," Yua hums, and she doesn't have to try to smile, because Yua's problem is more with not expressing emotions. (Poor Hiroki has gotten quite sensitive to her moods, especially after Kimitake visits... though he's much more settled against Miho.) "Hiro-tan won't forget to be teegee!" 'Easygoing', roughly; it's often used to describe the character of Okinawan people.
"Hey, hey... Mimi, how was work?" Yua asks, then, as she reaches a hand out from the side of her bed to her shoulder. "I wish I could give you some yummy dinner... but, but I can still ask about that!"
That is, after all, the kind of thing Yua asks after Miho gets home from a long day at work...
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
How mysterious. Miho hasn't given it much more thought. She doesn't have to.
But Yua expresses her emotions freely, and Miho is glad to see these emotions. "Yes," she says, though--it's true that Yua's emotions may influence Hiroki in ways that aren't easygoing... But it can't be helped. Miho will just do what she can to assist both of them.
"It..." She considers, tilting her head slightly; her hands aren't really free, so she doesn't do much with them other than lift an index finger, as she decides not to say 'it was fine'.
"I appreciate the thought; your yummy thoughts will sustain me." She smiles, and it is easier this time.
"Today, I inspected the facilities of a small courier business. I was able to point out the vulnerabilities in their pipeline, and remove potential places they could have been surveilled to the detriment of their customers' privacy. It was a simple job, but this one was worth doing, and pleasant."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
It's really amazing how much you don't have to think about when you have money...!
Miho, of course, has a sacred charge -- holding Hiroki with all her might -- which means it's Yua's charge to smooth a hand over her shoulder, as Miho thinks through her words.
She is rewarded with a giggle, as Miho cites her yummy thoughts. "I sure have a lot of those!!" She chirps, brightly. "Don't worry, Mimi! Even now, I'm plotting and scheming all the yummy things I'll make...! But first, it's gotta be sham and eggs in the morning, and taco rice bento for lunch," that's a particularly Okinawan dish which Tyrrha is quite partial to, "and veal cordon bleu for dinner...!"
Of course she'd jump straight to everyone's favourites...
"Uwaaah," she gasps, impressed, when she hears Miho's adventures with the couriers. "Just like Mimi got rid of that weird bug today? You're so good at this, Mimi!!" Yua sparkles, psychically emitting at least five hearts and three notes in the span of five seconds. "Wow, I wonder if Nobumizu has a bug problem, too..."
Not all couriers have the same problems, Yua!!!
"Hey, hey, did I tell you she came to visit?" Yua asks, smiling. "Her and her sister! Nobumizu was so nice!"
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
Miho accepts Yua's hand on her shoulder, leaning her head slightly towards it. Touch or not, it gets the idea across that she is acknowledging it.
And... a giggle! "You do." She pauses. Scheming and plotting... Miho smiles, inclining her head. "Yes," she says. "That is an excellent day planned."
But--Couriers! "That's right," Miho says. "Who knows who planted the ones on the couriers?" she says. "I was not paid to investigate that far. But they know now where to look, so they should be able to avoid being subverted."
But Shinobu...
"I see. I doubt that she does; her routine is too variable. But it is good that she came to visit. Her sister... That's the vice principal's wife, isn't she?" she recalls. Of Sevens. "I'm glad they had time to come and see you."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
Yua might struggle with meaning, sometimes, but the meaning of Miho leaning into her touch isn't going to go over her head any time soon; they're bonded, and bonding, and welcomed together.
"And soon, Hiro-tan will have a favourite food, too! Though I bet I know what his first favourite will be!!" Yua chirps. "Mouuu, I just hope my boobies decide to work by then... oh, but I did get more out today! I'll keep working hard so I'm ready to feed him when he's gotten stronger...!"
(She's being a bit elevated about it, but the concern that maybe she can't breastfeed properly is more than a joke... though Dr. Matsuhashi assures them that it's actually extremely common as a worry amongst mothers, and the situation isn't as dire as it may seem.)
"I wonder if it was one of ours?" Yua muses, tilting her head, as she reaches up to tuck a strand of Miho's hair behind her ear. (She can do that, now it's a bit longer. It's fun!!) "Well... if it was, he should have done it better!"
Shinobu, of course, is not one of theirs. "She's very chaotic," Yua sighs, "but then, I guess she's still single... she won't need to settle down and be a little more sensible until she finds a nice woman. Mm, and yes, from Seven's! Her other sister is in the police force, too, but Kimi-san hasn't mentioned her recently... though, she is in central Tokyo, you know?"
Yua smiles, gesturing to all the flowers and cards and gifts in the room. "Lots and lots of people have come to visit, Mimi! Mother even came by again yesterday... she brought me some get-well soup! Mm, mm, she said it was traditional medicine...! Eating it, I felt better!!" Which would have mean Natsumi sought it from a specialist, rather than cooking it herself, but Yua is a little unique in how much she enjoys cooking all her meals personally...
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
"Indeed," Miho says. She feels conflicted about the fact that she can't help on that front; on the one hand, it's another change to her body that she doesn't have to deal with. On the other, it leaves it to Yua, who is having difficulty, and that's been very hard on Yua with all of these matters so far...
"I'm sure they will," Miho settles on saying. "And if massage will help, I'll be happy to assist," she says, with what from anyone else would be a wink but from her is entirely deadpan.
It should be fine.
"I also wonder that," Miho says. "But indeed. It does not bother me to thwart an incompetent conspirator."
Miho smiles back at Yua at the matter of her hair, sighing once. She keeps her hands on Hiroki, but rights her head to listen and talk. ...Her foot flexes idly, her ankle rolling a little thoughtfully.
Chaotic. "She is. But it works for her. I respect it." a pause. "Ahhh, yes. Good. Well, I wish both of them well. ...And is that so? Hmm. I suppose it's outside his territory..."
Many visits. Miho smiles. "I'm glad," she says. "You have many others who love you as well. ...That is well."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
Also, owie. Owie is also a factor in that complicated calculation. Sometimes, the only thing that helps such a grievous ow is --
Miho says what Yua is thinking, and when she hears Miho saying it, why, that's when she blushes about the thought. "W--when we get home, Mimi can help a lot...!"
(Stupid hospital and their stupid decorum and stupid nurses who don't get it.)
"If you think about it," Yua says, "we're just making him stronger! So thwarting him is totally okay!" Now, should Yua bring this justification to their boss? ... it might actually fly, if she's bold enough, but that's another reason why Miho deals with the brass by and large.
Hearing Miho sigh is enough motivation for Yua to keep playing with her hair, smoothing her fingers in through the short locks, even before she sees the way her ankle rolls. There's tensions Yua would like to help massage out of Miho, too... but for now, maybe combing her with her fingers will do.
"I guess so," Yua says, because it's nicer than saying that Kimitake probably has very rude thoughts to think about a female police officer. "But Nobumizu is so cool... I'm really surprised she hasn't swept anyone off her feet yet! Maybe her closet is super super deep..."
(Yua don't know 'bout Shadow Fukami. She has no clue that Shinobu only recently came out.)
Yua giggles, though, as she twirls a bit of Miho's hair about her dark finger. "But don't worry! The only one sweeping Yua-mama is Mimi! Ahhh, I need to get better so I can up again!!" Get picked up, she means. "Hee hee," Yua giggles, her smile warm, as she looks down to the nuzzled-in Hiroki and back up to Miho. "But you're right... everyone's come! The whole family! Even Aunt Ito called!" Ito Ijuuin, Miho's fellow schizophrenic, who generally prefers to keep her own company and not to go out. "She said she'd paint Hiro-tan's picture when he can come out of the hospital...!"
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
"Good," Miho answers. She will help a lot! ...Maybe some find it strange, when their wives breastfeed, and get turned off about the whole thing. Miho appears not to have that problem. It's not only because she's not a man... but it helps.
She probably wouldn't be that comfortable being watched by nurses herself, anyway.
"Heh. They might believe that," Miho reflects, tilting her head a little towards Yua's hands again. Her green hair is indeed long enough to play with now, though only a little; it's still around her ears that most of it rests.
"But I don't care either way. "
"Hmm. She is reluctant to be tied down, I think. That may be why."
The giggle makes Miho smile. "Good," she says. "I'll look forward to that. I'll keep up my lifting, too." She has no reason not to, after all. But there is Hiroki...
"Even Aunt Ito?" Miho reflects. "I'm happy to hear that."
"...with all these people supporting us--you--I'm sure we will come through well."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
Miho's firm answer just makes Yua flush a little brighter; she's grateful, really, because the question of what purpose her breasts serve now is by no means a settled one in her mind. But, you know, Miho can like two genders, Yua can have two cultures, one thing can be two separate things at the same time.
... and when it comes down to it, Yua definitely wouldn't be comfortable. She's just feeling awfully put out, after ten days under that kind of watch...
(They said she needed to be put out for six weeks, actually, but they said it as if she was with her husband, and Yua hasn't managed to check with Dr. Matsuhashi about there's a magical lesbian exception to her recovery from surgery. Six weeks... what if it's the recovery that kills her?!)
Yua thinks Miho's hair is an excellent length, as it happens, because she can fiddle with it. Not that poofing the shorter hair wasn't very fun, too... Yua's, of course, is still in her braid; it's Miho who helps her brush it all every day, because the nurses say they don't have time.
(To be fair, it's a very awful lot of hair. She needs to be careful it doesn't fall down onto the awful hospital floor when the bed is low!)
"Mmm," she hums, fondly, when Miho dismisses the Order, and one may get the impression that she is not thinking all too much about the consequences at all, because she's too busy watching those strands of hair fall down like a fluttering green curtain.
At least talking about Shinobu gets more of her attention. "Mm, mm, like a 'free spirit'... hee hee, that makes me wonder how many women she's had to turn down!"
Her hand drops down, to Miho's shoulder, to smooth over the defined muscles of her upper arm as far as she can reach them. "Mimi's so strong," she says, with a touch of a sigh, "I bet you'll be able to pick up me and Hiro-tan at the same time...!"
(Not, one notes, Yua and Tyrrha. Even Miho's vast strength might struggle to treat a robot girl to a casual up. ... on the other hand, Tyrrha's probably the only one in the family who could give Miho an up...)
"Mm, mm," Yua smiles. "She didn't want to get more bad attention on me by coming herself... but we can go to her house! With all her painting stuff! Oh, just once you've made sure all the bugs on me and stuff are gone." She pauses, and frowns, slightly. "It's kinda weird how many they put in here... I never saw how big a problem it was before." Not that she didn't trust Miho when Miho was mistrustful of malicious actors, but...
You know, sometimes Yua has to say she doesn't see what Miho sees?
"Mimi too! Mimi too!!" Yua insists, hearing Miho clarify her. "Tomo-kun's helping, right? Did you get to talk about your feelings and stuff? Is he making sure you really go to bed instead of sitting on the deck with that really hot intense expression as you stare out into the night?" YUA IS THAT REALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL -- nope, she's keeping going, just as concerned and insistent as she's been. "Is he helping you remember Mimi health?" Because of course it's flatly improper to refer to Miho needing pills in an unsecure location. "Is he giving you lots of hugs and reassurance and nice tone words? Mimi too!"
(Needs help too, one presumes.)
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
For Miho, a thing can be many things. ...And while she'd bend to Yua's comfort in the end, she does prefer to keep up that aspect of their relationship without limiting themselves too much. ...Well, other than the potential six week prohibition. Does that apply to everything, or just to...? Well, they'll find out together.
Miho is happy to braid Yua's hair. It's meditative besides.
"Probably many," Miho reflects. Shinobu is very attractive, after all. And dashing.
Miho's muscles are easy to define and smooth just now, considering their bare state, her skin still soft despite the hard muscle beneath. And her strength? "I will," Miho says. "And I will." Both be strong enough and do it.
...Miho is not accustomed to being lifted by robot daughters. Even Tomoki doesn't pick her up much.
"Yes," Miho confirms. "That makes sense for her. And indeed, I'll ensure that we're clean of such things."
"It's fine. Most people don't think of it so much."
Miho being hot at 2 am aside...
"Heh. I still think you are the one who needs the most support... But I am receiving support as well. Not only from him--but from many others."
Pause. "...Though him in particular, too, yes. I have gotten to discuss my feelings with him, some, and more soon. ...He's been very good to me. And soon I'll be able to bend my attention more to upcoming events..." Like getting married officially.
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
They are, after all, moving forward together, in hardships and in hearth. (It's hard to say 'sickness and health' when Yua's always that first one...) In that same manner of togetherness, perhaps Miho braiding Yua's hair is just as meditative as Yua making a mess of Miho's...?
Dashing women--!! There is one, of course, who is dashing above all in Yua's mind, and all the moreso for her economy of words. So strong... Yua lets out a breath, as her fingers trail the edge of her upper arm. "We'll be really happy...! Kids love up most of all, Mimi, you'll see. You'll be so good at 'higher, higher'!! No one's as high as Mimi!"
Beat.
"Oh, wait... Tomo-kun's more high than Mimi..."
Oh, no, Yua's devotion to her favourite topic was interrupted by her autistic dedication to literal facts.
But Miho reassures her about those awful little bugs, and Yua hums, her hand lifting to Miho's hair again. "I never had to think about it, 'cause you were protecting me... I'm really lucky!"
(How can she say they're delusions when it clearly is happening???)
"Mouuuuu... you're right," Yua admits, of her needing it most. "Yua-chan is having a very bad day, except it's been ten bad days, and they said I'm not going home tomorrow, either... nn, but it's not so bad right now! Right now is nice! Hiro-tan is so happy when he's with you, Mimi, and Yua-mama is too!"
Yua is speaking for him, but it's not a bad guess; he's quite settled, against Miho, feeling calmed by her slow and steady heartbeat and still pressure.
"But I was worried about Mimi," Yua insists. "So if he's helping... I'm happy!" Worry creeps into her voice again, though, as she pouts. "Mooouuu... you don't think I'll still be in hospital when you have your party, right? They wouldn't make me miss it, right? Mimi's gonna wear Mother's kimono! It's really important...!!"
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
They are! And maybe Miho will have time to catch a cold one of these days--though as it happens, she almost never does. ...But the two treatments of their hair are similar.
Miho is very dashing. Can she air-dash? Maybe.
She laughs, though. "He will be happy, I think. I can definitely accomplilsh high placement for him." A beat, "That is true too," she admits. "But it is different when it is one of his mothers, I think."
"I'll always protect you," Miho assures Yua. And indeed, in the past, there was more room to dismiss her paranoia... until they did join the secret conspiracy to control the country and perhaps the world. Now, well. Is it?
"He does seem happy, doesn't it?" she asks. Miho looks down, tilting her head so that she can see Hiroki better against her chest. Her feet have come to rest again by now. "...Yes," she says. "I think he is."
Yua was worried... "Thank you," she says. "But he does. If I were at this alone when I wasn't with you... it would be that much more difficult." Perhaps shec ould lean on her sister, instead. Perhaps not.
But--
"...I wanted to talk about that," she says. "I was considering doing a civil ceremony with just us anda couple of witnesses, to start--so that we could start the adoption proceedings quickly--and then, once you've recovered, arrange a proper ceremony and reception with everyone."
"What do you think of that? We could satisfy the law first, and satisfy our families and the gods when we can all go."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
Miho is strong where Yua is weak, when it comes to physical health... though perhaps the same can't be said for what's in their heads.
What's on their heads is infinitely fascinating to both of them, though, it seems. Yua has taken to slipping the back of her hand against Miho's head so that she can curl her fingers in a fanning pattern and tumble her hair over them. She will find infinite variations on things to do with her hair. She's talented.
"Higher, higher! Highest! Mimi highest!" Yua chirps, cheerfully. "Mm, mm! Mimi's the highest mama! Mimi's always high! Higher time is Mimi time!!" No, she doesn't hear what that sounds like. She's talking about the literal state of being higher than other people. Miho is six feet tall, you see. Does being high all the time mean something else...?
(No one tell them.)
"Oh, Mimi..." Yua sighs, when Miho promises to protect her once again. Yua certainly believes in Miho's capacity to air-dash... and it's hard not to believe in some of the other things she says, too. "Mimi's keeping me safe... I'm really happy!"
And so, as it happens, is Hiroki. "Mm, mm," Yua hums encouragement, when Miho takes a stab at reading his emotions, too. "I think you're right! Mama knows, right? Listen, listen --"
Hiroki, the microphone pointed at him, can be heard to mumble "oo," in all his infinite wisdom.
"Yua-chan would worry if you did it alone," Yua insists, again. "It's scary for Mimi too!"
But, then... the ceremony.
"Mmn..." Yua hums, sceptically, when Miho suggests going twice. "... you're right... it'll be hard to adopt Hiroki if we don't. It takes a long time... mm..." It takes her a moment, but, at length, she rubs a piece of that hair between thumb and fingertip as she asks, "... and you're sure mother's kimono is for the big party? I don't want to miss it!"
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
No, it can't. ...Yua has her traumas, but Miho has her own difficulties. Difficulties that are hard to discuss.
But indeed, Miho does not know other definitions of 'high' in the moment. It's fine. Don't worry about it. "Yes," Miho agrees. "indeed."
"When you are happy, I am happiest." She pauses then, looks down to Hiroki. Listen, listen...
Miho smiles. "Yes, Hiroki. Indeed."
But Yua would worry...
"i've looked into the legalities some--eventually, we'll have to care for him in our home," and of course Yua is part of this 'we', "but..."
Pause. "Yes," she says. "For a legal procedure I'll probably just wear a suit."
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
That's why Yua needs to work hard to talk about them... but not out here.
"Mm, mm! And when Mimi's happy, Yua-chan gets happier, too...!" In this, as many things, they are a feedback loop.
And Hiroki nuzzles Miho's breast, and issues no complaints for the moment, the way he often does when Yua gets upset while holding him.
"But that's good," Yua says, a touch of anxiety entering her voice. "It means I can stay, too! Right? It's the law and stuff! No one can get mad if it's the law and stuff!"
(Why would she be so worried about being able to stay with Miho, when that was never even in question....?)
Yua calms down, at least, thinking of that. "Hee hee... Yua-chan likes seeing Mimi in suits, too," she says, looking over to the carefully-folded shirt and jacket on one of the visitor's chairs. (For 'kangaroo care', Hiroki needs to be against her bare skin... it's still quite modest, because there's a wrap around her securing him to her chest, and she has a hospital-clean blanket to drape over her shoulders.) "Mimi's so strong in a suit... I have a lot of secret feelings!" She pauses, and adds: "But I get to see Mimi in a suit a lot, so I guess not seeing it once is okay."
<Pose Tracker> Miho Ijuuin has posed.
Yes. Not out here.
"Indeed," Miho agrees, her few words holding a lot of meaning even though there are not always very many of them. And Hiroki is here, and Miho does not mind a little immodesty around Yua, so the blanket is currently only on one shoulder--so that Yua can touch her other shoulder.
"Yes," Miho says, though she looks curiously at Yua at her anxiety. "It did not occur to me that you would do otherwise," she says simply.
Strange.
Still, "I recall that," Miho says of the suits. She smiles, then. "Not secret to me," she says. "I know those feelings well..."
"We'll take pictures," she assures Yua.
<Pose Tracker> Yua Ijuuin has posed.
Yua's quite happy, getting to see Miho's lovely, chiseled arm like that... even before one gets to how happy she is seeing Hiroki in Miho's arms. She worked so hard to get him there... and she did it!
He just needs a little more... her body can hold out just a little more. Just six months, right? Six months and six months... so a year? Maybe a year and a half...? Can't she do that much, Gretchen? Isn't it okay? Six months and six months and maybe another six months, and Hiroki will be safe--!!
(Anyway, won't they have reached the True World by then...?)
With all those worries, on top of her worries about the man she can't tell her wife about, Yua can only say: "I was worried... if they expected something else." 'They', who? Their family? The world?
Whoever it is, it's not Miho, who Yua knows would never cast her out.
And Miho, too, knows much of Yua. She flushes, again, as Miho assures her. "Not a secret to Mimi," she agrees, rubbing her fingers at her shoulder. "Even though it's hard right now... soon we can share those feelings, too!"
She is reassured, in turn, by Miho's promise. "Lots and lots of pictures," she agrees. "And make sure Tykko gets a super-cute dress...!"
('Make sure she doesn't ruin it climbing a tree' is implied.)
