- Summary: After picking up [2026-04-22:_Meeting_a_Muse|burgers for herself and Ririka], (including the extra fries), Ririka makes it to Ichika's dorm. The two sisters talk about the con, various types of manga, sex, relationships, and dating.

The westernmost ward of the city, and also the one furthest inland, Hirasaka is
considered one of the least desirable places to live in Sumaru. This is in part
due to the bad reputation of local Kasugayama High School, nicknamed "Kasu High"
by its students and "Cuss High" by its detractors. A school of overwhelmingly
boys but some errant girls, it's said to be for delinquents, poors, and other
"problem" children. Just down the street is Sumaru Prison, which is not a prison
but an underground club with a live stage, and either way the parents of Sevens
students hate it.
It's not all bad in Hirasaka, though. The shopping is second to none, with a
huge five-story mall called Smile Hirasaka that offers a wide variety of
businesses and conference meeting rooms; just be sure to go on a day when the
stores aren't closed. For those who want a more homey atmosphere for their
purchases, there's Kameya Alley. Plenty of office buildings populate the area,
too.

School's out, work for the school paper is done (that's still a thing! They'll get an issue out soon!), and Ichika is back in her dorm, waiting on her sister who is supposed to come by with food. To hang out!
She's still in uniform, working on some school stuff in theory, but in practice just kind of idly staring into nothing at the moment, thoughtful.
But the door's open, and it's easy for a girl to get into the dorm, especially one who people will recognize.

Ririka isn't in her school uniform, instead dressed in a light jacket, t-shirt, cargo pants, and sneakers. She's got her backpack on, and she's carrying a couple bags of food.
She knows the way by now, and since Ichika isn't waiting for her in the lobby, she heads up to Ichika's dorm, exchanging nods and greetings with anybody she recognizes on the way.
She knows that 'staring into nothing' look. It's a real mood.
She knocks on the door, smiling. "Hey, onee-chan." She holds up the bags. "I got burgers. And extra fries, just like you wanted."

Ichika at least isn't wearing her boots! She's in her room, after all. And when Ririka steps in, Ichika swings her legs off of the bed and hurries over towards the door, smiling. "Hey, Ririka-chan."
Closing the door behind her, Ichika gestures to the desk as a place to put down the bags. "How's it going?"
A beat, "Cool. I'm pretty hungry. So thanks!"
Before talking much, Ichika for one is going to eat.

Ririka will take off her shoes at the appropriate time! She smiles as she sees Ichika rush over, "Hey, sis," and then moves to set the backs down on the desk, unpacking them. "I'm good. And you?"
There's a grin as Ichika says she's hungry. "Saaaame."
She will also eat.

"Less talk, more fries!"
Ichika was very hungry; she doesn't even mention her diet this time. But eventually, after the bags are mostly empty...
"I'm cool," she says belatedly. "Just thinking about some stuff. Mom's pretty far along now..."
That's complicated for a few reasons.
"Oh yeah, and that event was fun. The one with all the nerd stuff? Did you end up grabbing anything?"

Ririka tries to watch what she eats, but she typically doesn't think in terms of dieting. But she won't knock Ichika for being hungry, either.
But Mom... "Yeah..." It's complicted for her, too. For different reasons, but still.
"You mean Akiket? Yeah, it was!" But when asked if she got anything, Ririka nods. "Oh, some CDs, some manga, and, uh..." Ririka's cheeks turn red and she rubs the back of her neck some. "You know, some... other stuff."
"How about you and Sakamoto-san? Find anything interesting?"

Ichika sure does! She fixates on it sometimes.
"Yeah!" Ichika answers of Akiket. "Yeah?" Ichika says, and then grins sideways at Ririka. "Other stuff, huh? That sounds pretty interesting. What's the other stuff?"
But then, "Oh, yeah. Some mecha stuff from the shows he's into, mostly. And I picked up some manga, too."

Ririka can feel her cheeks heating up even more. "I, you know, some... romantic stuff." Ririka isn't a terribly convincing liar sometimes. This is one of those times.
Well, okay, so maybe it's only a half lie, but still.
"So he likes mecha stuff... that's cool. There's some really cool mech designs out there, huh?" She nods. "Nice. Get anything in particular?"

Ichika notices Ririka blushing, and manages not to laugh mostly by force of effort. "How romantic?" she wonders. Then she hmmms, because Ririka asked her a question, and she considers how best to get Ririka to open up some more.
"Mm-hm--the 'super' stuff more than the Titanomachy kinda things that nii-san liked."
"Welll," Ichika says, "I got some really sexy doujins of a series I used to be into. I didn't know they made manga like that, but there's apparently a lot of it. I tried some new stuff, too. And of course, I got some yaoi for Shuyo-kun." Beat, "Little for me, too."
"It's just books. No big deal, right?"

Ririka struggles for a moment to figure out how to answer that in a way that isn't embarrassing. Well, embarrassing to her, personally.
But a different kind of mecha. "Ohh, okay, well... that's still cool."
And then Ririka just kind of stares at Ichika for a moment. "Wait, you got some for yourself, too?"
She's still blushing, but when Ichika call sit just books, Ririka glances away. "I, uh... maaaaybe got some yuri stuff for myself. That are... pretty sexy."
Okay, it did help to hear Ichika mention it first.

Ichika is incorrigible; she doesn't object to a little embarrassment on Ririka's part. It's healthy!
"Yeah," she says of the mecha stuff. "I think I like Nii-san's better," she admits. "But it's fun to see how into it Ryuji-kun gets."
Ririka stares, and Ichika can't help but laugh this time. "Yeah!" she answers, of course she got herself some.
"Good!" she says brightly. "I'm pretty curious about it. But you have to look at a lot of stuff to understand what you really like. And it's fun to look."

Well it's good that you're okay with it, Ichika.
(It probably is healthy though.)
"Yeah... but that's kind of one of the cool things about a con, right? There's a lot of different things for everybody..."
"Huh. Well... I guess a lot of girls are into that kinda thing..." Hitomi wanted some specific BL stuff, too, come to thik. She's not opposed, though she doesn't get the same thing out of it.
She does manage a smile when Ichika calls it good. "Yeah, uh... there's more places that sell this kinda stuff than I thought, too." She's quiet for a long moment. "If you're curious, um..." She looks down at her backpack. "... I might have some of it with me..."

"Hmmm, yeah. I guess that's true." She's not super familiar with that world, still. But it was fun to dip her toes into the pool, as it were. "Mmm-hm. I got some straight stuff too, of course. Since, you know." She's definitely 100% heterosexual. That's true!
She smiles back. "Cool. And sure! I'm interested. I'k kinda curious about girls' stuff, too."
"...So," she says then, "Ryuji-kun's gonna meet our parents soon."

Ririka doesn't know all of it, herself, but she still had some fun going. Some of Polychord's earliest songs were anisong covers, to she's familiar with a little.
Okay mostly the music, but still.
But straight stuff. "That makes sense."
Ririka nods when Ichika says she's interested, and goes digging into the very bottom of her bag to pull out a couple of volumes and offer them to Ichika to look at.
But soon... "Oh, okay. So... he hasn't yet? That's... an important step, huh?"

"Yeah!" Ichika answers. "I figured it'd be nice to try a variety of stuff. And there's a lot of art styles they have, too... I kinda like the big shoujo dramatic ones."
Ichika accepts some of the manga, but doesn't flip through immediately; she'll do that after they talk a little more. She does look at the covers, though. "Pretty," she says.
But...
"Yeah," Ichika says. "If I were... y'know, more normal, it might feel kinda premature--we haven't been together that long. But given everything, I think it's important sooner than later."
"i'm hoping it goes OK. i think they're going to like him, but he's pretty worried about it."

"Yeah, for real. There were a few specific things I was looking for, but... I found a lot more than I was expecting, so... that was kind of nice." And she got to get to know hitomi a little better, too.
Ririka sighs a little. "Yeah... very pretty."
Ririka wants to insist Ichika is normal, but catches herself wondering if it would be like insisting she wasn't Trouble. "Hey, you know..." Ririka doesn't have a good follow-up for that right away. "If it's something you both want to do, then... maybe it's the right time anyway."
"I bet he'll do fine." She considers. "So... does this mean you guys are getting more serious, or... do you just want to keep Mom and Dad in the loop?"

"Nice," Ichika agrees. "Sounds like you have some good friends out there, too. I saw you with them; it was nice."
Very, very pretty. Ichika smiles. But while she doesn't linger on normalcy, she does appreciate Ririka finding a way to make it... more about them, and less about what she isn't. "Hm," she says. "Yeah. It is. And it's not like we're getting married next month or something--it's just... family's improtant to both of us, so..."
Ririka thinks he'll do find, and Ichika smiles. "Well," she says, "We kinda skipped almost straight to 'kinda serious'," she says. "But yeah. And I do want to keep Mom and Dad in the loop. But I could see it, too? Stil being with him in a year, I mean."

"Yeah... they are." She puts her life in their hands, after all, and she takes her duty as a Navigator seriously. And the chat with Hitomi after...
Well, it helps, to know some other people she can talk to about some of what's going on with her.
Ririka is trying! If it helped... she's glad. "Yeah I hope you'd give us a little more warning than a month," Ririka teases playfully. But family... Ririka nods. "That's... really cool, you know?"
But they almost skipped there. "Oh yeah? But you didn't?" No judgement, there. She knows what Ichika gets up to. "In a year, huh... you really like him, then."

Ichika would be glad to know that's a thing. The second part, specifically; she knows Ririka does Persona stuff of some kind.
"Heheh. Yeah, don't worry. I want a nice, long engagement, where I can like, make plans and plot out wedding stuff. Have a party or something. You know."
But, "Thanks." Ichika then laughs. "I mean, I'm sleeping with him," she says. "But we're not talking about getting married or whatever yet. So it's kinda... that level of serious."
"It's complicated because I've got Tsubasa too... And we are talking about the future."
"But Ryuji-kun... I do really like him. I can see it working out."
"...You got your eye on anybody, yet?"

"Okay, good," Ririka says at the idea of a long engagement. "I'll be around to help you plan stuff, too, if you want."
"Oh, I see. That makes sense." Sothat much, but not the other thing. "Ahhh, right... Well, if you two are talking the future, that's cool."
They can all go at their own paces, whatever's right for each person.
"I hope it works out for... all three of you, I guess."
But Ririka sighs and shakes her head. "No... not really. I mean... it's not like I haven't noticed anybody," she admits with a faint blush. "But... looking and asking someone out are... two way different things."
There's one person, but... she's not ready to talk about it yet.

"I wouldn't miss having my sister involved," Ichika says warmly. "You're gonna have to plan a party or two yourself!"
But Ririka gets it. "I worry a little that I pushed him too fast," she admits. "But I tried not to, anyway. He really is a great guy, too. And his mom seems to like me OK."
All three! "Yeah!"
But Ririka... "That's cool," Ichika says. "Take your time; I'm interested, but I just want to see you happy. What I want for you is..."
She looks distant for a moment, and then returns her gaze to Ririka. "I want you to have what I didn't--the chance to figure out what you like, make your own choices. I got to do that... eventually... But not before Eiji pushed me a lot into what he wanted."
"I don't just mean when he hit me--I mean... I want you to have freedom on a smaller level, too."
"If you wait til you're 30, that's fine too. I support you."

Ririka laughs a little. "Then I'll look forward to that." Just, maybe don't ask her to plan the bachelorette party.
"I can't tell you if you did or not, I think that's up to you and him..." But Ririka does note that bit. "So... you've met his mom? Then why would it be too early for him to meet our parents?"
Okay maybe it's different for the guy's parents versus the girl's parents, but... well, that logic isn't going to apply to Ririka in the same way.
But Ichika wants for her... Ririka sits up a little bit more when she notices the direction Ichika's headed. "O-oh, right..." She nods solemnly. "Um... thanks. That means a lot to me to hear, and I'll remember that."
If Ichika looks like she needs a hug Ririka will get up to give her one.
Ririka lets out a long groan. "Uggghhhh... I definitely don't want to wait until I'm 30... If I wanted to do that I wouldn't be buying yuri doujin manga..." She plants her elbow on the desk and then rests her cheek on her hand. "It's just... hard to make the first move, when you don't know if someone is going to going to be receptive... and if I ask the wrong person, and people talk..."
She sighs again, reaching over to pick up a lukewarm fry and dab it in some catchup. "Um... is... that offer you made still good? You know, to set me up with someone?"

Maybe not, no.
"No reason," Ichika laughs. "I'm letting his nerves get to me, I think."
"So if it feels weird that I'm encouraging you to read dirty manga," Ichika says, "That's why. Not talking about that stuff... If I had, maybe I'd have seen Eiji for what he was sooner."
Ichika is fine; she is calm, centered. A hug might be nice later, but she doesn't need it right now.
"Ahahah," Ichika laughs, "OK, cool." Hmm. "Yeah," she says. "I'm lucky; I kind of expect the guy to make a move, usually. But you aren't even sure if she plays for your team, and then you aren't sure which of you should be making moves..."
"Hm?" The offer. "Oh! Yeah. I've looked up some rezubians I know. I think I know one or two who I'd trust to take you out. I don't know them that well though, so the rest'll be up to you."

Ririka laughs a little, too. "Being nervous is one thing, but don't let it get the better of you. I'm sure it'll go great."
"I meaaan..." Ririka drums her fingers on her thigh for a moment. "... Honestly it does help, like, a lot, knowing I can talk about this kind of stuff with you. Like finding girls cute or... sexy." She's still going to blush about that.
But she's silent for a moment. Not talking about it... "... maybe if I'd been able to be more open about where I lean... it would've been less awkward for us to talk relationship stuff."
She can handle that kind of thing a lot better now, now that the truth is out.
Later, then.
"Yeeeep. And the guys did most of the asking when I was still dating in middle school, and..." Another long sgh. "Man, I don't even know how to act on a date with a girl. What to say, what to wear... My last date was forever ago and it was okay but not, like, amazing."
"I mean... not to sound too desperate or anything, but... I'd at least like to give it a shot with someone that, you know, I at least know is on the same team, right?"

"Thanks."
"Good!" Ichika says. "Then totally, tell me all about it. It's healthy, I think."
"Maybe," Ichika says. "But maybe back then I wouldn't have understood as well. I couldn't say. Now, though... Well, now it's fine, right?"
"Besides, girls can be pretty cute--and sexy."
But first... "I think you should just act like yourself," she says. "A girl who's into girls likes girls, right?" It sounds like a tautology, but, "So if you try to act like a guy or something, that's not what she's going to want."
Ichika smiles more gently. "OK," she says. "Then I've got somebody in mind for you. How about... So, she's a little taller than average, but shorter than us--green, short hair. Really dramatic--she likes cards and pool and stuff. She's trying to go more legit, like me, but she is a Kasu High student, so... don't let her take you into too much trouble."
"name of Ikumi Okuyama. She gets ingredients for me sometimes here at the dorm. Second year, like you."

Ririka does smile a little. "Then... let's keep talking about it. And feel free to talk with me about stuff, too. It's... less awkward, now that ou know how I really feel."
"Hmm... maybe back then I didn't understand as well, either, so... who knows. But now it's better, definitely."
"Yeah they can," Ririka agrees.
"Yeah, but like... I'm a girl who leads a band, and who's into skateboarding, those aren't always viewed as... typical. And you know how anxious and nervous I get when things aren't clear, sometimes..." She sighs, then makes a face. "Yeah, deeefinitely not acting like a guy, though. I'm pretty happy being a girl."
She's a little shorter than the two of them. "I mean, who isn't?" But she's paying attention. "Cards and pool... that's kind of cool."
"Going more legit, that's good to hear." She gets that it's not always people's fault for being in the situations they're in, of course, but trying to change your situation is important, she thinks.
"Ikumi Okuyama..." Ririka nods. "Have you... told her anything about me?"

"Cool," Ichika answers.
It's definitely better now--and Ichika laughs a little at the emphasis on Ririka's response. But, "True," she says. "But that just means somebody who's into you doesn't need to be into a 'traditional' kind of girl." Pause. "It's OK--I get the same problem, and that didn't stop me."
"Heheh. She's like," Ichika holds up a hand at 5'3". So not short, but not tall, either.
"A few things," Ichika says, "But not your name, or that you're my sister. Just that you're into music, stuff like that."

"Yeaaah... I guess traditional is one thing I'm not..." Even if that's something she thinks about... rather a lot. How to pursue what interests her without... sticking out too much.
"I mean, you kill it with the Sukeban thing," Ririka agrees. "There's no way I could be my stage self all the time..."
But the height. "Oh, not too much shorter than, tha's cool."
"Yeah? And... how'd she react to what you said about me?" Ririka is... very interested in that answer. Mysteriously.

"I don't think it's all-or-nothing," Ichika says, in a 'if it helps' sort of tone. "You've got sides, that's all. Layers."
The sukeban thing! Ichika laughs a little. "Thanks," she says. "But that's a 'role', too--I gotta play up being tough at school because that's how it works."
Not too much shorter!
"Let's say... she weas interested." Ichika smiles. "I can put you in touch, if you want."
A beat, "But first," she says, and holds up one of the volumes Ririka handed her. "Let's see these!"

"Yeah, I guess that's true..." Ririka sighs a little. "... I think I like looking at it that way a lot better."
"Yeah, I guess that's true... I don't exactly have to worry about turf wars at Gekkoukan, or anything..."
But she was interested! "Yes!" Ririka says at the offer, and then immediately tries to pull it back. "I mean, you know, since she's interested, we could give it a try."
Smooth, Ririka. Maybe Ichika didn't notice that. (This is delusion.)
Ririka blushes. "Uh, yeah, sure. We can, uh... do that. Apparently there's some stores in Tokyo that sell stuff like this, so... it's not just at the con..." She shifts her chair so she can Ichika can look at it together.
She'll blush a lot, but... it'll be an interesting conversation anyway.
