A bright, excitable young woman who's quick to voice her opinions and effusive with her feelings, you'd never guess that Yanagi Nagisa is legally dead. Or maybe you would; after all, anyone who gawks at her walking cane will be told matter-of-fact that she's dying of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, or DMD. As upfront as she is about it, though, she doesn't linger on it, because she's over it. Right now--the only time that matters to her--Yanagi wants to seize what remains of her life and make the most of it with the help of her found family at Peacock Silk... and her totally legal photo ID that definitely proves she's a real living human being. Giselle: A beautiful porcelain doll of a woman with stiff but articulated limbs that end in catheter needles, clad in a tattered dress of ghostly mist and a bride's veil held in place by a bejeweled tiara. Giselle dances in place and sends out tiny, angelic origami spirits made of crumpled animation paper to gather information for her. (Star of the eponymous ballet, weak-hearted Giselle fell in love with a man lying about his identity and danced herself to death when she learned the truth. The Wilis summoned her as a ghost to join their vengeful haunt, but ultimately she forgave her penitent lover.)
