"Can you apply the penal code to demons?"

A young detective in the Konan PD, Sergeant Katsuya Suou was on the "Old Maid" case until he had a supernatural run-in with the Joker Killer himself and made the mistake of reporting it honestly to his superiors. Now, after being told to take a vacation and get some rest, Katsuya is pursuing the case on his own with Joker target Maya Amano, aiming to bring this monstrous serial killer to justice. Katsuya is so stern, serious, and by-the-book that he seems like he'd never overlook any crime, no matter how minor, but his compassion and sense of fairness do prompt him to look the other way sometimes.

Overview: Helios is the Greek personification of the sun and drives the chariot that bears the sun across the sky. He features in the Odyssey when Odysseus's men happen upon Helios's sacred cattle which they kill and eat despite Odysseus's warnings. Furious over this transgression, Helios asks Zeus to punish the men and only Odysseus is left alive.

Description: Helios looks like an anthropomorphic black cat with metal cone-like ears; he's the size of a human adult and is dressed in a very fancy if old-fashioned suit.

Special Skills

1. You're Under Arrest! (Guts): Exactly what it sounds like. Katsuya applies the force of the law to the situation (or threatens arrest, as needed) (...can you arrest a demon, well, dammit, he'll try anyway).

2. What is Justice? (Understanding):  Katsuya mulls over the meaning and application of justice, bringing his empathy to the fore in dealing with the situation.

3. Advise (Charm): Katsuya listens in and gives his suggestions for how to tackle the problem/situation.

Myunghon Yeo Yeo-san The Devil ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ A shopkeep and shady person. Possibly a criminal. The Harry to Katsuya's Kim (whatever that means...).
Yukari Takeba Takeba-san The Lovers ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ A student and member of SEES. Has a good head on her shoulders, but something about her also makes Katsuya a little nervous, like she could cut him with her words alone.

  • Katsuzou Suou: His and Tatsuya's father (not named in canon). Once upon a time, he was a police detective, until he was accused of taking bribes and went to prison for it. These days, he works as a security guard for hire.
  • Maiya Suou: His and Tatsuya's mother (not named in canon). Works part-time as a grocery clerk to help make ends meet at home.
  • Chief Togashi: Technically an FC; no canon first name given. The chief of the Konan Police Department, and Katsuya's mentor. Once upon a time, he was Katsuya's father's partner as an officer.
  • Captain Shimazu: Technically an FC; no canon first name given. An elite homicide investigator. Currently in charge of the Joker Killer investigation. Appears to take a delight in jerking Katsuya's chain, as it were.
  • Detective Tani: Technically an FC but only appears in one scene (no canon given name, obviously). A homicide detective at Konan.
