"Get out of my way or I'll cut you down."

Remi is the daughter of a French businesswoman and a Japanese corporate lawyer, and it was always assumed that she would step into the family business,Délices Montagnards, one day. But shortly after starting college she vanished from public life. Now, three and a half years later, she has suddenly reappeared, but she seems to be keeping herself distant from her family, and evasive about what she has been up to all this time. Her parents are keeping quiet as well, but the arrival of a new son has some wondering if Remi might have been disowned, a perception not helped by Remi taking an 'ordinary' job at the Cardboard Dragon. Remi used to be known as both a talented actress and a superbly talented fencer, but also used to enjoy a life of status and privilege she is seemingly now going without. The truth of her situation, however, is far darker than it appears: The New World Order kidnapped her and turned her into an Artificial Persona User, making her a weapon for their purposes. Now assigned to her high school friend Miho as an asset, Remi is searching for a way to reclaim agency in her life and escape the NWO's clutches.

Background

Remi was born to a life of luxury, the daughter of a wealthy French CEO and a respected Japanese corporate lawyer. She grew up with the expectation that she would one day take over the family's business, but until that fateful day arrived, she would be free to live her life as she chose, as long as she kept up the proper decorum, of course.

She grew up used to a life of refinement and culture. Japanes culture, certainly, but also French. While she was born and raised in Japan, she adored her (very frequent) trips to France, and one of her earliest loves was French literature. (She has read The Three Musketeers in the original French, thank you). From there she picked up a love of adventurous swashbuckling tales, and branched into fencing and Drama Club to satisfy the urge to act out those stories, and would even find HEMA workshops to engage in on her frequent trips to France.

When she started attending Seven Sisters High School, she would meet several students who would go on to become her closest friends. Myunghon Yeo she bonded with over a shared love of literature. Miho she would cross sabers with in Fencing Club. And Yua she would meet in second year, when Remi's Drama partnered with Yua's Dance club to put on A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Notably, Yua would play Titania to Remi's Oberon. Remi often sought out the male roles, those that she found interesting or those that would give her a chance to do some memorable stage combat. And for her last year, she wanted a chance to perform a classic role: Romeo, in Romeo and Juliet. She won the role, and caused a stir when she and Honoka Wasa, playing Juliet, had such good stage chemistry it caused some speculation and rumor. However, both of them flatly dnied there was anything more than that.

Remi graduated high school and moved on to college, as expected, putting her love of drama and fencing mostly behind. She took a trip to visit Miho at the 2008 Olympics... but then promptly vanished from the public eye.

She had been investigating the disappearance of Yua and attracted the wrong kind of attention, being kidnapped and taken to the same blacksite lab her friend was at. There she was forced to Awaken to an artificial Persona, and forced to undergo brutal experiments and conditioning to make her into an NWO asset.

Eventually, three and a half years later, she was discharged into Miho's custody, to serve the NWO alongside Yua as the black-suited fencer 'Tsurugi.' She is also reconnecting with Myunghon, working for them at the Cardboard Dragon, though of course, this carries its own dangers and complications...

Persona

Remi's Persona is La Maupin.

Description: La Maupin is a shadowy, androgynous figure in a crimson red leather straightjacket with gold studs; the sleeves are unbound, and though the sleeve they clutch a chipped rapier, letting the excess length swing free. They also wear an ornate but tattered red hat and a flaking gold masquerade mask.

Special Skills

Remi is pretty handy with a sword, experienced in both sport fencing with a saber, but using a rapier and main gauche in HEMA style fighting. She is also a talented actress, capable of adapting herself to various kinds of roles.

Approaches:

1. Flattery (Charm): Why bully someone into giving you what you want, when you can make them think it was their idea to begin with? A gentle compliment can go a long way.

2. Unflinching Stare (Guts): Remi's experiences in the lab have hardened her. She has been forced to fight countess Shadows, and can stare one down without flinching... whether she likes it or not.

3. Dramatis Persona (Proficiency): Remi always sought to combine her love for stagecraft and combat, with the culmination of both represented in this approach.
